When Chris opened his eyes again, it was to find Sky shaking him gently. The bedside lamp was on, giving him a good view of Sky’s face, which was etched with concern. Sky sat on the bed with his legs on the floor. Chris knew, however, that it was still the middle of the night. And it seed like his fever was returning because he felt hot and his head ached.
"Your temperature has spiked again. You need to take another dose of dicine." Sky whispered.
Chris groggily nodded, his head heavy with fever. He struggled to sit up, and Sky helped him, supporting him up before he reached for the bottle of water and dicine that had been conveniently placed beside them.
Chris took the necessary dication. Once the dicine was administered, Chris sighed and fell back onto the bed. He couldn’t continue like this. He would have to see a doctor.
With a tender smile, Sky settled back on the bed, drawing Chris close into an embrace. Chris nestled into Sky’s warmth, feeling the comforting beat of his heart. Their bodies pressed together, and the room seed to grow warr with the intimacy they shared.
Sky reached to turn off the bedside lamp, causing the moonlight to filter through the curtains.
Chris tried and failed to fall back to sleep. The fever still coursed through his body, making it hard for him to rest. The fact that Sky’s breathing wasn’t exactly stable told him that Sky was also awake. Chris shifted slightly and turned to Sky, who was wide awake beside him, the contours of his face illuminated by the gentle moonlight. Had he even slept at all?
"Is sothing wrong?" Sky asked in concern.
Chris, his voice raspy and laden with fatigue, asked, "Why are you still awake? I don’t believe my fever woke you up."
Sky, his eyes reflecting the faint worry he felt, hesitated before he replied, "I had to make sure you were okay."
Chris felt a warm flutter in his chest at Sky’s concern, but there was sothing unspoken, a tension that seed to linger beneath the surface. "Sky," Chris said gently, "are you uncomfortable sharing the bed with ?"
Sky’s response was swift—almost too swift. "No."
Chris, ever perceptive, sensed there was more to it. He furrowed his brow, studying Sky’s expression closely. "Then what is it? Why are you awake?"
Sky let out a sigh, his fingers idly tracing intricate patterns on the bedsheet over Chris’s waist. "I haven’t adjusted to sleeping with soone else in the sa bed. I guess it’s just new to . I also... find it difficult to sleep most tis."
Chris was about to apologize for causing Sky discomfort when a vivid mory resurfaced, causing him to pause. The first ti they had seen a movie together and he had drifted off to sleep on Sky’s bed, he woke up in the middle of the night to find them cuddling. Had Sky been aware of that? How long ago did this back and forth between them begin?
"Do not overthink anything. If I were uncomfortable, I wouldn’t be here. I just had to make sure you were okay, so I couldn’t fall asleep. I told you already; no one can take care of you better than I."
Sky’s heart fluttered. Damn.
That was the sexiest thing anyone had ever told him.
He had never realized how much he wanted to be cared for by others until he t Sky.
He t Sky’s gaze, both their faces only a few inches apart. Surprisingly, he had no sexual thoughts in his head, despite Sky’s tempting lips calling him in. He just wanted to look at this wonderful specin that drove him crazy, both literally and taphorically.
"Are you trying to seduce all along?" Chris asked him quietly.
Sky chuckled, the sound a gentle lody in the hushed room. "Is it working?"
Chris’s voice dropped to a conspiratorial whisper, their faces inching closer. "It’s working."
Sky theatrically gasped, placing a hand over his heart. "Oh no, what have I done?"
Chris laughed softly, the sound a soothing rhythm in the tranquil night. "But Sky dear, be careful. If you manage to fully seduce , you won’t get away from ."
Sky tried to maintain an air of innocence, but his eyes betrayed his amusent. "Possessive much?"
Chris scoffed. "I doubt I am anywhere as possessive as you."
Sky raised an eyebrow, clearly taken aback by Chris’s assertion. "What makes you say that?" He didn’t wait for Chris’s answer before he said, "Is it because of what my friends said during the pointing ga? Do not believe them."
"You think I had to learn that from your friends?" Chris asked him, chuckling. "Sky, I don’t know how you get along with your other friends, but I’ve seen how you react when I’m affectionate with others. You get pretty... intense."
The topic seed to have caught Sky off guard, leaving him at a loss for words. Chris didn’t want to make him uncomfortable, so he decided to change it to their usual playful tone. "Are you sure you are not taking your ’sugar daddy’ job too seriously?"
Sky laughed; it sounded genuine and infectious. It filled the room with a warm current that enveloped them both. "I was even about to cut you off."
"What? Why?" Chris asked at once, a little too seriously. Although Chris had initiated their banter in jest, he took Sky’s words seriously.
"Rember what I told you? I cannot be that to you when you are flirting with people."
"I told you I do not—"
"Yeah, you did. You told you do not, and I was just being judgey about you hugging Wilson and Rain almost kissing you. And then the next day you’re kissing Ash, sharing monts with Gary, having a girl in this room look after you, and feeding a boy sausage in public."
Chris didn’t know why he found it amusing, but he did and laughed lightly before he reached out to Sky with a hand, his fingers lightly grazing Sky’s cheek. Their eyes locked, and a quiet mont passed between them.
"You cannot be my sugar baby. For my ntal health. So you will stick to being my little bro." Sky spoke quietly.
"I’ll stay away from everyone else if that’s what you want," Chris whispered. "Tell if you want to cut off everyone else. I will do it for you."
He stared at Chris, and it looked like he was searching for the aning behind his words in those eyes. It seed he found sincerity in them, and it took him aback.
Sky looked away, averting his gaze, but Chris’s hand moved from grazing his cheek to holding firmly onto his jaw to turn his face to him so he would look at him.
Sky looked back at him. Finally, he asked softly, "Why... would you say that, Chris?"
Chris hesitated for a mont, then replied, "I’m just saying. Loosen up." He smiled at him, hoping it would relieve Sky of the tension. However, beneath those words he had told Sky lay a depth of emotion, a silent promise of his commitnt to the unique connection they shared.
The room seed to hold its breath as their eyes remained locked, their unspoken feelings weaving a delicate tapestry in the moonlit night.
"Do you know how beautiful you look right now?" Chris asked, returning to caress his cheeks.
Was that a colour he saw forming on Sky’s cheeks? Well, that was new.
"You should look at yourself," Sky spoke quietly, returning the complint. It made Chris grin.
"You should sleep. Let’s go to the hospital tomorrow." Sky said before covering them with the blanket properly.
"I think you need it more. And about the hospital... aren’t you worried about people seeing the two of us together?"
"I worry about you more," Sky spoke softly.
"Ah! You are making my heart flutter." Chris said, placing a hand on his chest and giggling.
The strange act made Sky look at him like he had lost it and laughed. "Don’t be weird and go to sleep."
"Yes, baby," Chris said as he tried to swallow a yawn.
"Baby?" Sky asked incredulously.
"Would you like to call you Daddy instead?" Chris wiggled his brow in amusent.
"Do you know what daddies do?" Sky asked, smirking.
"Do? To babies?"
Sky’s eyes widened. "Jeez! You didn’t... You didn’t have to say that. Oh my God! That is so weird." He covered his face with his hands.
Chris burst into laughter, and Sky quickly used a hand to cover his mouth to muffle the noise he was intending to create in the peaceful night.
"I didn’t... I didn’t an it that way either. You made it weird." Chris said this in between his laughter after Sky released his mouth.
He found Sky staring at him with an amused look in his eyes before he asked, "I guess you’re better, right?" He placed the back of his hand on Chris’s forehead to feel his temperature.
Chris nodded. "Thank you."
Sky also nodded. "Yeah. Good night."
"Night," Chris said quietly.
