A few minutes later, Su Wan brought Bai Li to Gu Jue’s private resting room at Empire University without even offering Bai Li a glass of water.

"To be honest, Lord Insect God, I don’t understand what you ant by your words earlier."

Su Wan sat up straight, her chin lifted slightly.

In fact, she was a person of a very gentle disposition, and most of the ti, she wasn’t particular about formalities.

In her past encounters involving official matters, Su Wan had always been this way.

But at the mont, it wasn’t about official business.

It was a personal matter.

Moreover, it was the very serious matter of an old insect trying to whisk away their precious daughter, Xiaoyan!

What was most critical was that the current situation was unclear regarding the feelings between the two... and considering Xiaoyan could very possibly be deceived by the old insect, it was strange for Su Wan to show a pleasant face to Bai Li!

Of course, not having kicked out this old insect already showed Su Wan’s greatest restraint.

Bai Li said quietly, "What I said just now is exactly what I ant, I am to marry Xiaoyan."

Su Wan: "Have you two been in a relationship?"

Bai Li: "...No."

Su Wan: "Lord Insect God, forgive my bluntness, but do you understand emotions, do you know how a husband and wife should interact with each other?"

Bai Li’s eyes slightly narrowed, "...I don’t know."

Su Wan smiled faintly, "Then do you still rember what I said initially, that we have only one precious daughter and when she marries, she will certainly be looking for a man who will join our family, soone who will beco a ’live-in’ son-in-law. If I recall correctly, you, Lord Insect God, command a great number of the Insect Clan and are about to rge with another Insect Clan. Plus, I’ve heard you’ve had dealings with Star Thief Lucifer. With your situation, you really aren’t suited nor likely to be our ’live-in’ son-in-law!"

Bai Li: "..."

He already knew beforehand that Su Wan was the most difficult person in the Gu Family to deal with. Unlike the other three father and son pairs, they would likely resort to physical confrontation with him directly.

But what Su Wan used was the soft approach.

Leaving Bai Li at a loss on how to respond.

What he didn’t realize was that from the mont he started caring about Gu Yan, in front of the Gu Family mbers, especially in front of Su Wan, he was destined to be at a disadvantage.

Because he cared for Gu Yan, he would also care about the family mbers Gu Yan cared about.

Bai Li pursed his lips, "Commander Su, as I ntioned before, you don’t need to use formal language with when we are not speaking."

Curious by this remark, she asked, "Lord Insect God, just how old are you, exactly?"

The average lifespan of people from Landis Star was two hundred years, and with the advancent of technology, even so of the purebreds could live to around one hundred and fifty years now.

Thus it wasn’t uncommon to see couples with age differences of twenty or thirty years, or even over fifty years.

They could also maintain their appearance in adulthood for a long ti without aging easily.

This too was a result of technological advance.

However, Su Wan had never known the age of this Insect God; she was certain he was not as young as he was when he first erged from the Insect Nest, at least she firmly believed that.

Bai Li: "..."

Facing this question, he rarely beca silent.

The pitiful Lord Insect God probably lived for so many years, yet this might be the first ti he faced a mother-in-law’s scrutiny.

Such a feeling was really too foreign to him.

Even if he felt a bit uncomfortable and sowhat annoyed, when he thought about Gu Yan, he still couldn’t afford to lose his temper.

Actually, Su Wan was also probing; she wanted to see to what extent this Insect God would go for Xiaoyan, to what extent he would suppress his temper.

Su Wan: "This question, asking your age, is it that difficult to answer?"

"Hmm," said Bai Li calmly, "because I do not rember how old I am myself. If it is only this lifeti, then I am as old as Xiaoyan. But if we include my past reincarnations... the ages added together, I can’t rember exactly how many years they are."

Su Wan was stunned, "Multiple reincarnations? You’re different from other mbers of the Insect Clan?"

"I am different from other mbers of the Insect Clan. I am... immortal. After each life ends, I am reborn as a new existence."

"For instance, in one life, I also beca a Beastman, but I was different from the ordinary Beastn. Although I had a human form, my instincts were essentially those of a beast. In that life, I was a Silver Poisonous Snake, and fortunately, the companions I t back then were very kind to , especially the Commander of that ti. He taught many things. Unfortunately, later on he died..."

Listening to Bai Li’s words, Su Wan suddenly felt as if this scene was strangely familiar.

Suddenly, she rembered her experience during her assessnt to beco a Probationary Commander and subconsciously blurted out, "Goat Beastman, Du Chen, Commander Du."

Bai Li’s eyes sharply narrowed, and his aura changed instantly. At the sa ti, Su Wan’s intelligent system Vermilion Bird went on alert.

"How do you know?!"

Su Wan looked at Bai Li as he stood up abruptly, she said calmly, "When I was taking the test for Probationary Commander, I entered a virtual battlefield to conduct a virtual command test."

"The squad leaders on the Starship were synthetically created based on so materials left behind by seniors."

"The blonde team leader Charles, always loud and boisterous; the black-haired team leader Li Li, with his own strong opinions and ideas; the big-bearded Rick with a fiery temper, fond of drinking, but straightforward; team leader An... usually liked to cross-dress, was very scheming yet a reliable companion."

Su Wan lifted her head and looked at Bai Li, whose expression gradually grew solemn, as if he were lost in thought, and she said, "Finally, the silver-haired team leader Xiaoyin, who usually seed disillusioned with the world, uninterested in everything. However, later he died in a black hole while avenging Du Chen; many said he was dead."

"Hmm, Commander Du... made realize the importance of companions for the first ti," Bai Li said, after which the break room fell silent once again.

Su Wan was also slightly shocked, but at the sa ti, she thought if Bai Li truly was such an immortal being, would it be really appropriate for him to be with Xiaoyan?

Su Wan said in a soft voice, "Bai Li, although you have lived for a very long ti, you lack a genuine understanding of human emotions, I hope that until you figure out exactly what your feelings for Xiaoyan are, do not rashly talk to her about marriage. You can’t be responsible, you shouldn’t let Xiaoyan fall too deeply. I might be selfish in saying so, but as a mother, even if I am understanding, I still have to consider my daughter first. Do you understand?"

Bai Li lowered his eyes and nodded, "I understand, but... would you let Xiaoyan marry soone in the short term?"

Su Wan shook her head, "Of course not, she’s not yet twenty years old, no matter what, it has to wait until after she graduates."

The two seed to have reached so sort of subtle agreent since, in their hearts, Xiaoyan was important to both.

The previously tense atmosphere finally eased sowhat.

But just at that mont, the door to the private resting room was suddenly thrust open.

A man with an expression of cold indifference, Gu Jue, stepped inside.
