Bai Li sat quietly on the sofa, looking at the school notice regarding the punishnt regulations for Anji and Du Huan.
He looked up, "What?"
Ji Mu suddenly leaned in, speaking mysteriously, "Are you or are you not..."
A silver light flashed at Bai Li’s fingertips.
Ji Mu lowered his voice, his words full of breathiness, "Commander Xi Le’s secret child!?"
Bai Li: "..."
The silver light at his fingertips slowly faded out, his expression still calm, "You’re thinking too much."
Ji Mu leaned in closer, sitting beside Bai Li, counting off on his fingers, "Look, you weren’t originally in the exchange student quota, you were added later. Plus, you actually dare to order around, doing this and that; if you were Commander Xi Le’s son, that would make sense, I wouldn’t disobey your orders. And the most important point..."
Ji Mu looked around, as if worried about being overheard, his two large butterfly wings fluttering nervously.
He said, "You actually dare to pursue Gu Yan! If you are Commander Xi Le’s son, then it all makes sense, does Lord Insect God intend for us to form an alliance through marriage with the people from Landis Star?"
Bai Li: "..."
He slowly raised his eyes, "An alliance through marriage?"
Ji Mu, sitting next to him, nodded, "Yes, an alliance through marriage. Actually, we’ve all understood that the Insectoids want to be on good terms with the people of Landis Star. Over these past ten years, we have engaged in various mutually beneficial activities, and now we even exchange students for learning, but, these relationships are not as reliable as a high-status family alliance through marriage, right?"
The butterfly just wouldn’t stop chattering away.
Bai Li didn’t say a word.
His ’listening’ behavior seed to encourage Ji Mu, who went on non-stop, "Actually, when we first saw Gu Yan, we were quite attracted too, but didn’t dare to make a move – after all, the difference in status is too great. Of course, if Gu Yan fell in love with at first sight, then I’d be willing to be a bit braver, but unfortunately, she doesn’t seem to see anything special in ."
Bai Li: "..."
Ji Mu turned to look at him, "If you are Commander Xi Le’s son, then your status is a bit higher than ours, well, actually you still wouldn’t be worthy of Gu Yan – everyone knows her family has formidable power, but, as a fellow Insectoid, I support you! Go for it, charge!"
Bai Li listened to Ji Mu’s words, his face expressionless, but many thoughts flashed through his mind.
He suddenly stood up and walked toward his room; Ji Mu was startled, "Hey Bai Li, where are you going?"
"To call Gu Yan."
The door to the single-person bedroom closed directly in front of Ji Mu with no courtesy, leaving him stunned for a few seconds before he touched his nose and said, "So confident, huh. Still claims he isn’t Commander Xi Le’s secret child!"
Once Bai Li entered the room and closed the door, he finally shut out the noisy Ji Mu.
Actually, he had ways to shut Ji Mu up.
But, strangely, he wanted to hear what he had to say about that marriage alliance.
Bai Li picked up his light brain, pondered for a bit, and first sent a ssage to Gu Yan.
Bai Li: Xiaoyan, what are you doing?
In the Gu Commander’s mansion, in Gu Yan’s bedroom.
Su Wan was telling her daughter that she would make a specialized high-level artificial intelligence for her; when ready, it would be akin to a direct upgrade of the brain, "Just like my Vermilion Bird."
"Wow! Really?"
Gu Yan was quite excited because this ant she would have an additional companion; she had always envied her mother having Vermilion Bird and Gu Ruanruan having Death God.
Su Wan: "Yes, but since you’re not part of the military, there might be so differences in the functionalities of the high-level brain when it cos ti."
"Of course, if you let know military secrets, that would be a burden and also unsafe for . Mom, can I na her?"
"Of course you can," she replied.
Gu Yan excitedly took out her light brain device. She had previously saved a lot of her favorite things in a folder, which might contain suitable nas for an advanced artificial intelligence.
And it was right then that Bai Li’s ssage ca through.
Because Gu Yan had no defenses against her mother, Su Wan clearly saw the ssage.
What are you doing, Xiaoyan?
Su Wan, who had been through it all, used to send such ssages when she missed Gu Jue, as their relationship had started with marriage before love, and Gu Jue had always been busy.
So... was there sothing going on with her daughter?
However, Su Wan was a detail-oriented person, and her gaze fell on the na of the sender.
Bai Li.
Was it that Insectoid kid?
Su Wan instantly rembered that they had previously suspected the Insect God was among the group of exchange students, and although they were unsure who it was... wasn’t Bai Li showing up a bit too often?
If Bai Li was the Insect God?
Then why would he want to get close to Xiaoyan!
Struggling to contain her speculations, Su Wan looked up at her daughter, "Xiaoyan, is this Bai Li the Insectoid exchange student?"
"Ah, yes," she said.
"Are you two very familiar?"
Gu Yan, seeing the doubt in her mother’s eyes, started to feel conflicted again!
Wuwuwu, she had always least wanted to deceive her mother, but she had also promised Brother Little Mushroom to keep his secret.
Gu Yan was still young, especially in front of her most beloved mother.
The young girl’s expression was one of extre conflict.
Softening her voice, Su Wan said, "Xiaoyan, it’s okay. If he’s a good kid, mom won’t oppose you being friends with good kids."
Gu Yan nodded, then whispered, "During the military training assessnt, Vivian and I found a drivable car outside the abandoned city. Then Anji and his friends wanted to steal our car, but Bai Li helped by beating up Anji."
"And then, Anji held a grudge against you?"
These were the facts, and Gu Yan nodded vigorously, "Yes, that’s right."
Su Wan actually wanted to continue asking, but seeing her daughter’s nervousness, her heart softened, and she gently said, "If he could step in to help, he must not be bad. When you have ti, you could invite him over to our house. Oh, and Vivian too, whom you’re close with. I’ll cook sothing delicious to treat them."
Gu Yan actually did want Brother Little Mushroom and Vivian to taste the delicious food her mother made by hand. She thought it over and said, "I don’t know if they have the ti. I’ll ask them later."
"Okay."
Su Wan didn’t continue on the subject but chatted for a while longer about the advanced artificial intelligence. Only then did she leave her daughter’s room.
Gu Yan heaved a sigh of relief.
It was then that she finally replied to Bai Li’s ssage.
Gu Yan: I was just talking to my mom. Oh, by the way, my mom said she wants to invite you over to our house and cook sothing delicious for you. Will you co?
