At the sa ti, Ouyang Qing was also under enormous pressure.

Ouyang Qing was a senior military doctor and also served as the director of the dical center. She was facing two individuals at the mont.

One of them was nad Yabo, the dean of the Empire dical Center, and the woman beside him was Lin Yue, the dean who concurrently oversaw the Beastman Research Center and the Beastman Nurturing Base.

Both held positions sowhat higher than Ouyang Qing, but she remained calm and collected.

Yabo sighed and said, "You don’t need to be so tense. Would we ever harm the child of Commander Gu? The main issue is the Insectoid matter, it truly boggles the mind, and it might represent a critical direction for evolution!"

"If we could advance the research in this area, perhaps we could obtain extrely valuable research outcos! Xiaoqing, you are a doctor I hold in high regard, and as a healer, surely you understand how important this matter is?"

Ouyang Qing said calmly, "Those two children, one is a rmaid Beastman and the other is a pure human. I’ve said this many tis already. If you don’t believe , there’s nothing I can do."

Lin Yue said, "Ouyang Qing, I understand that Commander Gu is your direct supervisor, and Su Wan is your relative, and your relationships with both are very close, but you are a doctor first and foremost. Moreover, we would never harm such young children. We’re truly only looking to conduct dical research without compromising their safety."

"Don’t you know? When Commander Gu was young, he also spent many years at the Beastman Nurturing Base and made trendous contributions to Beastman research. If he hadn’t disappeared, he would have agreed with our decision upon his return."

Ouyang Qing bit the corner of her mouth, still firmly stating, "I’ll say it again, the children have been checked; one is a rmaid Beastman, and the other is a pure human."

The conversation was a complete failure.

Yabo frowned in the end and said, "In that case, seeing as how unstable you’ve been lately, you are not needed at the dical Center for the ti being."

Ouyang Qing’s eyes dropped, "Fine."

This was, in fact, a suspension.

The two left Ouyang Qing’s ho with dismal expressions. Ouyang Qing rose silently and headed to the kitchen. After a mont’s thought, she had the brain-computer play a cooking live stream that Su Wan had recorded back when she was the Food God.

The fair hands that normally wielded a scalpel were now earnestly holding a kitchen knife, trying to learn how to make the simplest dishes.

An hour later, Gu Qingyu returned ho from work and upon entering, he imdiately slled the burnt aroma. He quickly strode towards the dining room and kitchen, only to find a table set with various dishes, each one looking rather bizarre.

The usually calm and composed senior female military doctor, always dressed in a white coat, was now wearing an apron and seed a bit flustered. She said with chagrin, "Sorry Qingyu, I wanted to cook a couple of dishes for you myself, but it turns out, I really don’t have a talent for cooking."

Gu Qingyu had already walked over and was examining his wife’s fingers for any injuries. He said, "You could just let the household robot do the cooking. Your hands are ant for surgery, what if you hurt them?"

"I won’t be using them for a while."

"What?"

Ouyang Qing said with an even tone, "I’ve been suspended."

Gu Qingyu paused for a few seconds, then smiled and said, "What’s the big deal? It’s a good opportunity to rest. You’ve worked too hard these past years."

As he spoke, he gently untied his wife’s apron.

Ouyang Qing turned around and embraced Gu Qingyu with her arms.

"Qingyu, let’s have a child."

Ouyang Qing had never liked children, and Gu Qingyu had only ever loved his wife, Ouyang Qing. Neither of them was actually incapable of having children, and compared to Cecilia and Su Ni, their chances of wanting to have a child were even higher.

"It all cos down to whether you’re willing or not."

Suddenly, Ouyang Qing ntioned she wanted to have a child. Gu Qingyu quickly asked, "Xiaoqing, what’s wrong? Did soone bully you at the dical center today?"

"No, I’ve just been working too long and I’m a bit tired, so I want to stay at ho and spend so quality ti with you."

Gu Qingyu hesitated for a mont before he softly said, "Xiaoqing, actually, there’s sothing I need to tell you."

"Your lab was also suspended?"

Gu Qingyu nodded.

Ouyang Qing’s tone lightened as she said, "It’s okay, this gives us both a chance to research having a child. Oh, co and eat quickly, or the dishes will go cold. They might not look that great, but they should taste pretty good."

"Hmm."

Gu Qingyu loved Ouyang Qing so much that he ate up all the dishes. However, before going to bed that night, he drank no less than three large glasses of water...

Lin Ranyue’s mood hadn’t been great these past few days; she was too worried about her daughter, sending a ssage to her daughter’s optical brain every day.

And, without exception, every ssage was like a stone sinking into the ocean, eliciting no response.

Gu Lei couldn’t stand it any longer and said, "Ranyue, don’t do this. If Xiaowan knew, she would be sad."

Lin Ranyue looked up, her face void of tears, and said, "Xiaolei, you don’t understand. When Xiaowan had her accident and fell into a coma, lying in the healing pod, I would talk to her every day. The doctors told that she could hear my voice and that she would try hard to wake up."

"Now, I send her ssages every day, too. She might receive so of them and will try hard to co back."

"My Xiaowan is a very brave and strong girl. She said she would co back, so she definitely will!"

Seeing her speak this way, Gu Lei sighed and pulled his wife into an embrace.

Su Ni and Su Yun ca to visit Lin Ranyue at the sa ti; they had both heard about their sister Su Wan’s situation and were most concerned about how their mother, Lin Ranyue, would cope.

When Gu Lei saw them arrive, he asked them to keep Lin Ranyue company as he took a call and went to his study.

Lin Ranyue looked at her two sons, "What would you like to drink?"

"Anything’s fine," Su Ni said with a hint of worry, "Mom, is what they’re saying about Xiaowan true?"

Lin Ranyue asked the household robot to pour three glasses of orange juice. She said, "Yes, Xiaowan went to look for Commander Gu. She also said she would definitely co back. Here, try this orange juice. Xiaowan always drinks this when she cos over."

Su Yun and Su Ni exchanged a worried look.

Lin Ranyue sighed, "I know you’re worried about , and yes, I am very sad, but rest assured. When Xiaowan was in a coma, I firmly believed she would wake up, and this ti, I believe she will return safely with Commander Gu. Enough about , how about you? Oh right, eldest son, is Lan Rui about to give birth?"

Su Yun nodded, "Yes, any day now. But she just found out about Xiaowan’s situation and got a bit upset, so the doctors have admitted her to the hospital for observation."

Lin Ranyue said, "Then don’t stay here, hurry to the dical center and be with her. She must be very nervous and scared about having her first child."
