Chapter 179: Chapter 179 I’m Getting Married
Mu Lei’s grandfather fell silent.
His hand, gripping the cane, trembled slightly.
After a long while, which seemed almost a century.
The old man looked up, his voice cold, "You can change your surname, but, you must leave a portion of your genes in the family!"
With a click,
Mu Lei cut off the communication.
That stubborn old man couldn’t be reasoned with.
So there was no point in trying.
After all, to him, Mu Lei was nothing more than a set of excellent, walking genes.
Mu Lei felt he had done all he could for the Mu Family.
From now on, he just wanted to spend the rest of his life with the person he loved.
Mu Lei promptly blocked the contact methods of Mu Butler and others temporarily.
Having finished work, he took a flyer straight to the Second Star District, the Lin Family’s home.
Night had fallen, and the Lin Family was gathered together making dumplings.
It all started when Lin Ranyue saw a photo of dumplings sent by her daughter.
Feeling hungry after the sight, she decided to make the dough and wrap some herself.
But hogging food was forbidden in the Lin Family!
So, the discovered Lin Ranyue reluctantly had to make more dough, to at least make enough dumplings for over twenty people!
It was a huge task!
With many men in the house, and hardly anyone who could cook, in the end, it was Lin Ranyue and the domestic robots who did the work.
A crowd surrounded and watched for a long time, until Lin Ranyue couldn’t stand it anymore and shooed everyone out.
Not helping, just spectating, and even criticizing that this dumpling wasn’t pretty enough, that one wasn’t round enough.
It was simply too much!
Just then, Lin Huitang, Lin Ranyue’s eldest male cousin, came back in.
"Ranyue, there’s a man outside looking for you," he said.
Lin Ranyue, her hands full of flour, looked surprised, "A man looking for me this late?"
"Yes."
"Is he handsome?"
"...Quite handsome, but he looks fierce, quite cold."
Lin Ranyue immediately knew who it was!
Clutching the unfinished dumpling, she rushed outside.
Then she saw Mu Lei, surrounded by her grandfather, her parents, and uncles and cousins.
No wonder he was the esteemed Director of the Mu.
Even facing so many pairs of pressing eyes, he remained calm and in control.
However, the moment he saw Lin Ranyue, a touch of tenderness softened Mu Lei’s otherwise cool gaze.
"Ranyue."
"You, how come you’re here!" Lin Ranyue had told her parents about her relationship with Director Mu.
But now there were too many family members present, the entire family!
The others still didn’t know.
Mu Lei stood up, walked over to her, and took her hand, "Ranyue, I’ve come to ask for your hand."
Lin Ranyue: "..."
Other Lin Family members: "..."
With things having reached this point, Lin Ranyue steeled her heart and began to introduce him to her family, "His name is Mu Lei, he is from Empire University..."
"No, I will take the surname Gu in the future."
Lin Ranyue looked at him in surprise!
Ten minutes later, Lin Ranyue returned to the kitchen to continue wrapping dumplings.
One more portion to make.
But her mind was elsewhere.
She turned her head to look at Mu Lei in the living room, being interrogated by her grandfather, her father and uncles, her male cousins.
Suddenly, her emotions were complex.
She felt moved.
After all, this man had gone to such lengths for her.
But she also felt in a daze.
Don’t be fooled by Lin Ranyue’s cheerful demeanor every day, but deep down, she was hurt by that bastard Su Zhen, leaving a scar on her heart.
She had loved someone so earnestly and so diligently.
In return, she received wounds all over her body.
At this moment, Lin Ranyue’s emotions were too complex, and she desperately wanted to share them with someone.
So, she dialed her daughter Xiaowan’s number.
She dialed for a long time without an answer, just when Lin Ranyue was about to give up, the call was finally picked up on the other end.
At this moment in the bedroom, Su Wan pulled the big tail aside.
She said, "Mom, it’s so late, what’s up?"
Lin Ranyue: "It’s not late, it’s only seven o’clock."
Su Wan made up an excuse without missing a beat: "Oh, I was in the rematch today, and I was so tired that I slept for a really long time. My sense of time is a bit confused."
The big tail prodded over to her, wrapping around her calf.
Su Wan quickly gave it a glare!
The handsome brow of the person next to her furrowed slightly, but instead of retreating, he advanced further and even reached out to pinch her ankle.
Su Wan: "..."
Fortunately, Lin Ranyue didn’t notice anything was amiss on the other end.
Most importantly, she was feeling particularly excited at this moment.
Lin Ranyue: "Xiaowan, tomorrow I’m going to register to marry Mu Lei!"
Su Wan: "Wow! That’s great! Mom, congratulations!"
Lin Ranyue: "I’m also surprised, I didn’t expect him to actually be willing to give up his surname to marry me."
Lin Ranyue: "But I think, maybe the surname he had before was too much pressure for him."
Su Wan: "The surname Gu might have meant more responsibilities for him."
Lin Ranyue: "It’s okay to have big responsibilities, a man should be able to bear them. Ah, it feels like I’m dreaming."
Su Wan, listening to her mother’s happy voice, had a gentle smile on her lips.
She said, "Mom, start your new life and forget everything in the past."
Su Wan understood better than anyone how seriously and deeply Mrs. Lin had once loved Su Zhen.
She had children for him.
She gradually gave up her circle of friends for him.
Although she acted impulsively when they divorced,
How deeply must one be hurt to leave someone they loved so deeply that nonchalantly?
Lin Ranyue also knew that her daughter understood her.
Her voice trembled slightly, "I can’t forget the past completely, after all, you were born to me in the past. By the way, has my precious grandson been giving you any trouble lately?"
"Not at all, and today, he even gave Su Yun a good shock!"
Su Wan vividly recounted the events of today’s rematch, and of course, received a lot of praise from her mother.
It wasn’t until there was a call from the other side saying the pot was boiling that Lin Ranyue reluctantly hung up the call.
Su Wan put down the light-computer, turned around, and saw Commander Ajue, who was sitting on the bedhead earnestly looking at documents, yet his tail was still wrapped around her calf.
Su Wan leaned in, wrapped her arms around his neck, and gave him a kiss.
"Ajue, thank you!"
"You’re thanking me again?"
"I kissed you before saying it."
Su Wan settled comfortably in his embrace and then reached out to stroke the soft big tail.
Stroke by stroke.
The eyes of Commander Ajue grew deeper.
Su Wan said, "When I first woke up, aside from the household robots and medical staff, the only one by my side was my mother."
"She alone firmly believed that I would wake up."
"After she divorced, I’ve always been worried about her."
"But now, with Director Mu accompanying her from now on, I can finally be at ease."
Su Wan knew that her mother was in fact a quite delicate little woman.
She had been the beloved princess of the Lin Family since she was young.
But after marrying Su Zhen, the princess gradually forgot she was a princess.
She became an accommodating wife; she became a tender and strong mother.
Slowly, she lost the spoiled little girl she once was.
But now, it was all good.
Someone finally remembered that she needed to be cherished like a little girl, and would be there to take good care of her and protect her.
