After two weeks of being hospitalized and enduring the growing boredom that gnawed at her sanity, Kyra finally received good news from her attending doctor.
As usual, every morning, a nurse would perform routine health checks on Kyra and record them to monitor her progress. Initially, Kyra had grown weary of this repetitive activity, especially after two weeks of waiting without hearing any good news. All she ever got was more dication or changes to her prescriptions.
But today was different. After completing the usual check-up, the nurse returned with the doctor, bearing the news Kyra had been longing for!
"Miss Kyra, your health has shown remarkable improvent based on today’s results. Therefore, I believe you can be discharged and continue your recovery at ho," the doctor explained while flipping through Kyra’s dical records to ensure nothing had been overlooked.
Kyra’s sullen face imdiately lit up with joy. She had to muster all her self-control not to scream at the top of her lungs. How could she not be ecstatic?
Spending even one week in the sa room with the sa view, doing nothing but sleeping due to the effects of dication, was enough to drive her crazy. Fortunately, Jane had saved her from the misery of hospital food. While it looked fine at first, Kyra knew it would quickly beco unbearable.
She had coincidentally talked with other patients the other day and talks about food ca up naturally. Having enough of the hospital als, the way they described it was enough to make her cringe.
On the other hand, every ti Kyra tried to write, a nurse would inevitably interrupt, either to give her dication or remind her to rest. What frustrated her even more was that she couldn’t protest since these constant reminders were at her grandparents’ behest. The elderly couple had grown extra vigilant after Kyra asked for her laptop out of boredom.
But now, she was about to be freed from this confinent!
With a restrained smile, Kyra asked, "Really? So, I can go ho now?"
The doctor chuckled but refrained from comnting, as this was a scene he frequently encountered. Hospitals were hardly enjoyable places. Even for him, it was just a workplace, and being busy was far better than lying in bed for days. So, he sympathized with his patients. Truthfully, Kyra’s reaction was one of the calst he had seen.
Little did he know, Kyra was holding back her imnse joy. Finally, the doctor shook his head with a slight smile and said, "More precisely, tomorrow. Hang in there for today and continue to rest fully. For now, we will contact your family to inform them, so they can co and handle your discharge procedures."
Kyra finally couldn’t hold back her wide grin. She eagerly replied, "No need, Doc! Let be the one to call them."
The doctor chuckled again. He was genuinely happy that his patient was recovering. "Alright then. Good afternoon, Miss Kyra. If you have any further questions, don’t hesitate to press the call button."
Kyra responded with a nod, already busy with her phone. She quickly unlocked the screen and scrolled through her contact list. The first person she wanted to inform, of course, was her boyfriend. She couldn’t wait to go on a proper date with Jas—sothing more than just lying around in her room or taking strolls in the hospital garden.
Without further delay, she pressed the call button.
anwhile, Jas, who was in the middle of reprimanding the marketing division manager during the weekly eting, furrowed his brows as he felt his phone vibrating.
However, the other employees, unaware that it was their boss’s phone, imdiately bowed their heads and muttered curses under their breaths.
’Who’s the idiot who didn’t turn off their phone before the eting?’ one of them thought bitterly.
’Fuck! Now we’re all going to pay the price. The boss has already been fuming all morning because of the marketing division’s mistake.’
"We’re dood!" one manager whispered to the colleague next to them.
Jas had a strict rule during etings and working hours: no phones unless it was work-related. Thus, the sound of the vibrating phone felt like an impending disaster.
It wasn’t the first ti this had happened, and the last person who faced Jas’s wrath had their annual bonus cut—a devastating consequence, considering that the annual bonus was often larger than their monthly salary.
The tension in the eting room imdiately rose, and the air felt frozen. Since morning, Jas had been in a foul mood due to accumulated exhaustion and stress. Every day, he worked overti to ensure everything was in order so he could visit his girlfriend, Kyra, without worry.
On top of that, he had to monitor his grandfather closely, ensuring he remained unaware of Jas’s occasional late-night visits to Kyra. He was also concerned about Lila’s lack of movent, which he needed to discuss with Kyra, but he kept delaying it to prioritize her recovery.
And now, amidst all this, the marketing division had made an amateur mistake that should never have happened. Their error led to client complaints. Although Jas managed to comfort the client with compensation, which kept the business relationship intact, he still saw it as a business loss.
Thus, the sound of the vibrating phone, coupled with Jas’s furrowed brow, felt like the final straw for everyone in the room.
But in the next mont, they were stunned to hear their boss’s gentle voice, completely devoid of any anger.
"Hello?" Jas answered with a smile as he saw Kyra’s na on his phone screen.
Everyone in the room imdiately looked up and stared at Jas with eyes as wide as koi fish. Their jaws dropped, forming an "O" shape with their mouths. Never had they heard their CEO speak so gently, with an expression so full of affection.
In that instant, a burning question exploded in each of their minds: "Who is on the other end of the phone?"
So guessed it might be Lila, but others doubted it. In the past, Lila often visited the company, yet their president was never this sweet. There was only one person who never failed to make their president smile, no matter how bad Jas’s day was—his niece, Kyra.
From the other end of the call, Kyra’s enthusiastic voice ca through, "Jas! The doctor said I can go ho tomorrow!! Can you pick up? If it’s about the discharge procedure, I can ask Grandpa and Grandma to handle it. You must be busy right now, right?"
Jas’s heart ward, and the dark aura that had surrounded him all day was suddenly replaced by a glow of happiness. He imdiately signaled his secretary to handle the rest of the eting before leaving the room.
"No, I can co right away if you want. We can have lunch together too. What do you feel like eating?"
Of course, Jas wouldn’t pass up this opportunity. Going to the hospital to assist with Kyra’s discharge was the perfect excuse to see her without worrying about his grandfather. Still on the call with Kyra, Jas headed back to his office to pick up his things.
"Are you sure it’s okay?" Kyra raised an eyebrow. It wasn’t like she was oblivious to how exhausted Jas had been lately. That’s why, even though she was bored, she kept suggesting Jas to just lay down with her during his visits.
Honestly, Kyra had considered telling Jas not to visit her anymore if he was too busy. They could talk over video calls or even just voice calls—it would be fine.
However, Valeria had advised her not to say anything, pointing out that Jas was fully aware he didn’t have to go to such lengths. Yet, he still did it, even when he was tired, which ant he genuinely wanted to see her.
So, it was better for Kyra to respect his decision and show her gratitude by pampering him. That was far better than telling him not to co. It would feel like Kyra didn’t appreciate his effort to make her happy.
"Of course, so what would you like to eat? Or should we go out for a al instead?" Jas offered, though inwardly he was already grinning, pleased that his girlfriend secretly worried about him.
"Ah, eating at a restaurant sounds nice, but let’s do that tomorrow. For today, just bring a sushi set, Darling!"
Kyra quickly buried herself under the blanket after she said that. She was absolutely ashad by her cheesy term of endearnt. She still wasn’t used to calling him that, and unsurprisingly, it was the first ti she had called Jas "darling" since they started dating.
anwhile, Jas felt a pleasant tickle in his heart at hearing Kyra call him "darling." Finally, he got to hear it. He knew Kyra was still shy, and considering the unusual pace of their relationship, a bit of awkwardness was natural. That’s why he patiently waited.
Chuckling softly, Jas refrained from comnting to preserve his little girlfriend’s dignity. "Okay! A premium sushi set it is. Would you like so udon as well?"
"Oh yes! I want that too!" Kyra answered enthusiastically. So focused on the food, she suddenly forgot her initial embarrassnt.
After that, it didn’t take long before Jas arrived at the hospital, carrying two bags of food from a famous Japanese restaurant in the city. He cheerfully made his way to his girlfriend’s VIP room.
Opening the door, he was greeted by the sight of Kyra lying on her side, holding her phone. She seed deeply engrossed in watching a movie with her headphones on.
Jas smirked playfully as he quietly set the food on the table and crept closer to Kyra. Completely absorbed in her screen, she didn’t notice him approaching until it was too late. In one swift move, Jas pinned her down, took her phone, and silenced her with a kiss before she could react.
At first, Kyra was startled, but she quickly lted under his touch. Her heart, which had raced from the surprise, now beat even faster as Jas’s kiss grew deeper and more demanding.
He effortlessly coaxed her lips open, his tongue intertwining with hers in a heated, intoxicating rhythm that drew soft moans from her. Both were swept up in the mix of sweetness and intensity, their breaths coming in ragged gasps.
Then, Jas’s hand began to wander to her waist, sending waves of ticklish delight through her body, making her shiver with pleasure.
"Jas..." Kyra gasped his na, her voice tinged with a soft giggle as Jas’s kisses trailed down to the hollow of her neck.
At so point, Kyra had beco an addiction for Jas. A simple kiss was never enough. His instinct to dominate burned brightly every ti he saw his girlfriend. Fortunately, he always managed to control this urge. Otherwise, Kyra’s cries might have echoed through the VIP corridor, and she’d be confined to her hospital bed for entirely different reasons.
"Jas, wait—"
But before Kyra could finish her sentence, Jas captured her lips again. His movent, though gentle, still induced light pain from his nibbling. But, as he licked and sucked at her lips, the pain gradually beca an unbearable pleasure.
Kyra let out another moan as Jas’s hand finally cupped her chest. Reflexively, she grabbed his hand, trying to pull it away. But instead of being obedient, the man squeezed gently, sending waves of pleasure through her body and her toes curled in response.
Just then, a series of knocks interrupted them, breaking their heated mont. Both turned toward the door, startled, and were even more shocked when they heard the voice of the visitor.
"Kyra? Grandma’s here with so food," Jane called out. Her eyebrows furrowed as she thought she’d heard noises from inside Kyra’s room earlier. Assuming Kyra had a visitor, she stopped her husband from entering imdiately.
"Grandma and Grandpa are coming in now!" Creighton called out next. His hand was already on the door handle, pushing it open as he finished speaking.
