Chapter 224: Separate Ways
The moment we emerged into the Academy I was swarmed by people, with Anwen throwing herself at me and rocking back and forth while Sera approached and hugged me as well, burying me between the two women and making me tear up slightly.
Before I could relish this warmth that came from the two welcoming me back, I heard a soft growl and the sound of steel sliding out of a sheath, causing me to turn towards my ’companion’ who was standing nearby with a wry grin.
Lu’Shaki and Kha’Miero were standing in front of the Hyenakin, placing themselves between us and acting as a barrier while Ishtarnii joined this ’huddle’, looking me over before nodding towards the black scaled warrior.
"Why are you walking out of the Gate at the same time as Natalie, Taji?"
"What, a futanari can’t just be out for a stroll and happen to meet up with a classmate~?"
I felt myself sighing before I realized it, the constant need Taji had to be such an irritating person rearing its head once more and doing her no favors in front of everyone else who had a low opinion of her already.
"When there was an avalanche that almost killed everyone on that damn mountain? What were you doing there, Taji..? Were you the reason there was an avalanche, or were you stalking Natalie?"
The Hyenakin lazily pressed her neck against the dagger that Kha’Miero was holding, and even as I tried to step forwards and calm things down the Hyenakin just seemed incapable of being normal as she asked "Why do you all think I can cause a fucking avalanche? It was the first thing Natalie asked me too..."
"Something bad happens and you happen to show up after it. Sounds like one hell of a coincidence to me, right?"
She just nodded and continued to hold herself against Kha’Miero’s blade for a few moments more, waiting for one of the two futanari beside her to ask her something only to give me a glance when I said "Lu’Shaki, Kha’Miero, please... it’s fine."
The Orc spun around and looked at me in shock while Kha’Miero kept herself focused on the now grinning Hyenakin, though she didn’t pull her dagger away nor did she let Taji step away as she asked "What happened, Natalie?"
"I... The avalanche happened, the ground collapsed beneath me, and I was knocked unconscious in the tunnels beneath the mountain. Taji found me, so I guess she was stalking me, but then she uh... helped me get out of the tunnels. They were... complex, and with Raveners there..."
Sera gasped while Anwen went rigid, the Harekin staring at me in shock before murmuring "Raveners..?
