Chapter 205: Some Quick Preparation
Standing in front of the stall, I pursed my lips and studied the simple dagger for a few more seconds before shrugging and laying it back down, not being that impressed by its quality nor caring for a somewhat mediocre piece being priced so high.
Thankfully Ishtarnii was having better luck as she tested the weight and balance of a gladius, staring down its blade and nodding to herself before she looked at the musclebound Bullkin smith that had set up this stall.
"You want 40 Crowns for this? It’s good quality, but 40 Crowns for some decent steel and above average craftsmanship... that usually s someone a proper sword, not a gladius. 25 Crowns."
Right off the bat she set a pretty aggressive tone to this negotiation as she almost halved the price whilst also tiptoeing around the smith’s honor; meanwhile the Bullkin snorted and leaned forwards, her gigantic forearms straining slightly as she slowly replied "It’s not simple steel. That right there is Stygian Steel. Superior durability, superior sharpness, less weight. 38 Crowns."
"Stygian Steel is lighter than this. Maybe this is lower quality Stygian Steel... 30 Crowns since it is lighter and sharper than normal steel."
Another snort and some more flexing of her impressive biceps and forearms preluded a somewhat disdainful "Low quality... what would you know about low quality steel, brat? Sure it’s not the purest chunk I’ve ever forged, but this is good stuff here. 38 Crowns, take it or leave it."
"Mm... It looks like some good forging, but again..."
Ishtarnii tapped her knuckles against the flat of the gladius a few times before continuing on, nodding again as she said "I could do 33 Crowns for something like this.
