Chapter 179: Making Money

The only real option that I felt that I had was to head out into Mythia to sell off the extra Mana Crystal slivers I had before heading over to the bakery to work an extra shift and earn even more money.

What I wanted to buy was still up in the air honestly, since I knew I was going to need to get some better gear that was actually mine but also knowing that I was very likely to spend my coin frivolously on things like alcohol, good food and maybe a trip or two to visit some particular ’fine’ establishments...

The things that make life worth living, y’know?

I did need some decent armor, I wanted to have a few more potions for a few different things - resistances, cures, amplifiers and some others - plus I was going to want to have a small variety of weapons for monsters that had different weaknesses and the like...

After I got those things maybe I could look forwards to some special ramen or cracking open some aged wine with my friends... or I could just blow all my money now and just bank my adventuring career on this large party of ours producing a large amount of coin immediately..?

Nah, I wasn’t that irresponsible and frivolous, even if the idea of going out tonight to get hammered at that bar just to get picked up by some not so good intentioned futanari before waking up late for class tomorrow was somewhat appealing to my degenerate brain.

With that clarification down I stepped onto the streets of Mythia and made my way back to the market, deciding that I could test my luck at any of the various Alchemist stalls or stores where I would undoubtedly be negotiated down into very unfair prices, or I could take a shot on that shady merchant again...

The market was just as busy as it had been when I had first come here, and just like before the robed, white masked woman was standing in her corner speaking to no one, just looking straight forwards like she was a statue.

When I approached her she turned slightly and tilted her head, and even with no visible expression I could have sworn she was smirking at me as I stepped up to table and began to take a look at the wares she had on display.

"You do buy things as well, don’t you Miss Merchant?"

"Depends on the things you want to sell me. I’m not a junk merchant, nor do I deal in organics, but otherwise I am sure we can work out a price that suits us both. What is it that you have though, Miss Student~?"

Pulling the various pouches off of my belt, I placed them on the table and opened them up to reveal all of the pretty crystal shards to the merchant, who immediately leaned in and nodded appreciatively.

"Mana Crystal slivers. Good alchemical ingredients, potentially useful as fuel for enchantment equipment, and if that fails they make for pretty pieces of jewelry~! You have a nice range of elements too... even Lightning? Not bad, not bad at all..."

As she began to ruffle the various shards around to get a better idea at just how many I might have for her, I was looking through her wares hoping to find any of the familiar items that I might be able to just trade for, some of which were definitely a bit more desirable than others.

The random rotation of weapons, armor, enchanted items and spell books or similarly arcane items was an extremely vast list that rarely ever was actually fully seen, and the items that I considered well worth the price tag were extremely limited, so I had little hopes.

That was a good thing since my hopes were currently being dashed against a bunch of rocks as I looked over everything, but there was this enchanted short sword that had a nice red metal blade that was warm to the touch.

"How much for this?"

"Hm? Oh, that... It’s Wyrmbreath Steel, subpar enchantment, shortsword... Let’s call it 30 Crowns, though since you want me to buy these off of you... This bag here should suffice, with maybe three or four of the Lightning Shards?"

"Deal."

Pushing that bag over to her and plucking three of the amethystine shards out of another, I traded them for the blade in my hands before mentally tallying everything else up, ignoring the ’look’ that the merchant was giving me.

"Either you’re trying to suck up to me or you aren’t as smart as I thought."

I just glanced at her before feeling an odd rush as I replied "Considering what happened last time, why don’t you take a guess~?
