Chapter 165: So...
"Can’t really blame me for trying, can you?"
I just shook my head at her and idly swirled around the water in my glass, wondering if I should fork over some more of my hard earned coin to get a little more wine or if I should just start sobering up.
Thankfully Ishtarnii answered that question of mine for me as she waved the waitress over again and ordered another bottle for me, the Bullkin just brushing off my ’complaints’ and instead returning to her platter of various finger foods.
"Kinda felt like asking something, just to keep this from being all silent and awkward... What are your plans for the future? Just study and then head back home afterwards? Stick around here and make something for yourself? Become an adventurer or something?"
"I... don’t really have any solid plans yet. I mean, I guess I know I want to try and stay here, just because there really isn’t anywhere for me to go back to? Or at least a reason to go back; no one is waiting for me back ’home’, so there’s no reason to even entertain that idea. I just want to push forwards..."
Immediately I felt a little embarrassed at having brought the mood down a little, though apparently it was just me thinking that since Ishtarnii finished chewing on the fried cheese ball so that she could say "This is definitely a good place to live. Somewhat more expensive then everywhere else, but the safety is unmatched."
"When we were at the salon the workers were telling us about a war that was started recently, so yeah... that definitely makes me want to stay here if I can."
Handing me the wine bottle when the waitress brought it over, the Bullkin just snorted and nodded her head as she added "There’s always a war being started somewhere, but there have been more recently than in the last few years."
Uncorking the bottle and pouring myself a nice glass, I sighed and stared at the enticing red liquid for a few seconds as I wondered about my future, unsure of what I could or couldn’t achieve now that this was all real.
"You should keep up the pace you’ve set and I think you’ll do fine. Make friends, find some nice people, try and get a good circle... Study hard at the Academy and you should land a job easily in Mythia, or you can become an Adventurer. Hell, if you really feel like it you can always look around for a strong wife!"
"What, someone like you?"
Smirking at me and nodding slightly, the Bullkin replied "Someone like me, sure... Or someone like Lu’Shaki or Kha’Miero. Maybe even someone like Professor Bo’Katari~?
