[OP: ]
"You were in a desert? By yourself?" The question ca from Captain Alpha who had just arrived at the shop.
He was covered in bandages from head to toe. It seed as if his entire body was covered in cuts and burns. His eyes seed tired as if he had not slept for a few days now. And he seed the most worn out right now.
And yet, he had the brightest smile among all of them as he sat there, drinking his delicious cup of coffee.
"I was, though not by myself. I had the companionship of my familiar and perhaps They are the only reason I was able to get back. Oh, did I ntion we fought a Desert worm?" Hide said it so casually it seed like he was talking about so everyday creature.
But as soon as she heard it, she almost spit the coffee in her mouth with a stunned expression.
"Y-you fought a (Indigo) rank? Really?!" Everyone present there knew what the Desert worms were. They carried the blood of the divine beasts and were so of the strongest beings one could encounter in the barren lands.
To defeat one alone, one needed to be at least a [Rank-6] knight with perfect control over their Aura or an expert (tier-7) mage.
That much would still not be enough if one was fighting against a Worm that carried the powers of their ancestors. They sotis appeared in groups as well so if one was faced with a flock of those things, they should best prepare to fly away from that place.
"It was a tough fight. We didn't defeat it since it ran away after getting beaten up a little, but it was a fun fight.
I swear if I didn't have enough food at that ti, I was going to lose and eat that thing."
The way he was saying it made it seem like the worms were so kind of simple, edible thing. However, that was not the case.
"Dude? You alright? Have you gone insane?" Those things were the most inedible things in the world. It was recomnded that one does not eat those creatures or any creature of the desert for that matter unless safety precautions were taken.
And here he was, talking about eating those creatures as if they were so desert chicken.
"Stay hungry for three weeks and you will think like as well! Hmph!" He was not so madman. He knew what he was saying as well.
But then again, the place he was in did not have much to offer.
Had he not found an oasis in the desert, he would have fallen into despair and given a try to the creatures of the desert for certain.
"It's tis like these where I miss Lucifer's cooking the most. I had not wanted anything like that in my entire life." As if Truer words were never spoken, those words were t with all kinds of positive responses.
"I missed his food when I was away as well… the party that I was traveling with had no one that could make any decent food." Tia had a disgusted look as she said that.
Even though she had learned a lot from her journey, she had not longed for decent food as much as she did when she was with those people.
They were simply awful when it ca to cooking. She was the one who had to make them a few things when they had no other choice.
"Actually, I was missing Mister Lucifer's cooking while I was in the palace as well," Bell confessed sothing that might earn her a scolding from the best chef in the world, Empress d.
"Mother d is amazing, and creative as well. But I guess my brothers would agree with when I say there is sothing in Mister Lucifer's cooking that even Mother's cooking doesn't have every ti.
Love? No… it's not as deep as that. I guess it's sothing simpler, perhaps the simplicity of his food? I guess?"
Lucifer, the vice-captain of Wisdom Phoenix and the force that brought this group together was the most famous chef that they had in the academy.
He had brought this group together, he was the best chef there was, he was the best in theory, and even when it ca to combat, even after being a knight, he was no less a mage than anyone among them.
They must have missed him, they must have missed Uriel when they were away.
Quin, Chry, Carla, Alf… they must have missed them as well, however, the Heliox were not missed as much as those two. They were a unique connecting chain of this group, and they are being rembered by this gathered group right now.
"His food is cozy, yeah. When I was with Luna in the north-."
"You finally brought that up! Huh! Took you long enough!" Tia jumped up from her place and shouted those words. But before she flew over to Alpha, Lizzy grabbed her by her small waist and carefully placed her down on her little chair.
"Let him talk now, will you? Tia?" Tia had asked him many tis why he was covered in those scars and burns, where Luna was, as well as many more things. But after being overwheld with all her questions, he decided not to say anything at all for the ti being.
He remained silent and did not say anything back then, but now that he was saying sothing, the others did not want him to shut up once more.
So, after shutting Tia up, they focused on what he was saying, only to be overwheld with their gazes.
"You guys… it's not all that amazing, you know?" The story of his ti in the north with her people as well as his return alone the fight that they had and all the events that led up to these injuries of his.
All of that was not that fun to begin with. Yet, every single one of them including Ezra seed to be interested in knowing what had transpired with the two of them.
"Haaa." But now that they were looking at him so sincerely, there was no way he could not tell them about all that.
After all, it wasn't all that bad. He surely had fun in the north, just not with the person that brought him there.
"I think it all started when I t Miss Luna's father and told her that he's an amazing person-." Those were his first words and the ladies knew from that starting line alone…
"You spent more ti with her father than her, didn't you?" Tia was suddenly far less interested in the story.
"You were there for a festival but you ended up learning from the lord and his n. You focused on learning their ways and how they trained, what the things he needed to learn and keep in mind and such things, didn't you?" That was Ezra, and she was as cold as ice when she said those words.
"Yes, but-." And Captain Alpha did not even deny those words, bringing even more disappointnt to the ladies present.
"You ssed up and got into a fight with Luna, then you fought, found it fun, and kept going, but since you didn't want to hurt her, you tried to pull back, and yada yada. Does that cover your part of the story?" Even Hide was disappointed in the captain of the previously best house.
As if to have been stunned by all the things they were saying, Captain Alpha fell silent for a mont there.
He did not understand how they all had figured all that out so quickly, but after a little introspection and the cold looks from the little fairy, he knew he had made a mistake much more terrible than he had initially thought.
"Does she at least know you're hurt?" The deciding question ca from Liz who still held a sliver of hope for this friend of hers.
"Yeah… I an, she did these bandaids, after all. We defeated a (Blaze Lizard) together before coming back so we had a great ti, I guess?" He said those words just as calmly as he had said the rest of his items.
And the words were received by the rest of them just as calmly as well… until their minds processed it, at least.
"...wait."
Until they ca to the realization that there was a bigger angle to this story than the classic cliche.
"Wait wait wait! A (Blaze Lizard)? The (Purple) rank blaze lizard that I know of???" Tia was blank for a mont.
Liz chuckles at her reaction, but even she could not believe it.
The rest of them were the sa… they were talking about a (Purple) rank creature, after all. Even if the two of them were captains in the academy, they were still first rank students.
Having hunted a (Purple) rank creature was an achievent far bigger than most of them could brag about right now– they doubted even Lucifer and Uriel could defeat such a being by themselves.
"Oh, we were accompanied by the Lord's finest knights, alright? It was only possible because they were there."
The rest of them had their doubts but those final words lifted a heavy rock from their chest.
"Dude, don't scare us like that."
The breath of relief that Tia released was the deepest. She was the most competitive one so if her friends were taking down (Purple) rank creatures already, then she would have had to step up her ga by many folds.
But thankfully, that was not the case this ti.
"Yeah… it's a funny story actually." The actual story that he wanted to tell them was starting now, so, they all sat back in their seats with a little more relaxed hearts.
Their peers were not going beyond (Indigo) rank just yet.
They still had so ti to catch up to them if they tried a little harder…
