[OP: ]

"The first ti we ca here, this place seed pretty special, you know?" Rein looked around the student council president's office located high up in the academy castle.

Though the place was known to the students and everyone else, coming all the way here was not easy as well.

Since it was located on the higher floors of the castle, one had to take the magic 'stairs' that transported one to the floors that they needed to go to– however, even these stairs had a limit to the floors that they could go to.

The students would have to co here by themselves so if one didn't like walking, they didn't usually co to this place.

Thankfully though, there were so other ways that certain students like the council mbers and the Heads of the houses were told to get here.

It was similar to going to the headmaster's office, sothing much more difficult than coming to the council office.

"This is the council office so not many people co here aside from the presidents anyway. But you two still ca every now and then just to chill with us or to eat lunch or offer us bribes.

It would be pretty strange if you don't find this place familiar by this point." President Zodiac had a bitter smile when he said that.

When he beca the student council president and ca to this office with his presidents, this place seed like a holy temple to him.

The work that he was going to do here, the foundations for his successors that he was going to leave while working here, and the mories that he was going to make were all not sothing he had expected when he joined the council as a first-year student.

The two of them were not obvious candidates for this position like Rein and Eon. Just like Del, there were others who gave him pretty tough competition.

"By the ti we beca the presidents, we had not even co to this office a handful of tis.

On the other hand, the two of you seed to take this place as a chilling spot, hmph!" Even for Del, this office was sacred.

She might have almost destroyed this place a few tis over the years, but she still cherished this place more than enough to leave it behind in a near perfect condition.

The place was as clean as it could get, and since they had taken out all their belongings from here already, this place at least looked much different from what Eon and Rein were used to.

"We didn't make this a chilling spot or anything, alright? We simply liked being around and hanging out with you two has always been fun.

Besides, helping you guys with your work and doing work together after the missions that we have done together has beco a common practice for us, no?"

There was no way they could deny Eon's words either.

The fact that they had stuck together for so many missions and had been together even outside of the academy signified how close they were.

Even when they had to go to the great forest, the reason the headmaster allowed them to go with the two of them was because of their friendship and the trust that he had in all four of them.

From the headmaster's perspective, both Eon and Rein were obviously going to be in the head position within the council but even if the Zodiac and Del had thought differently, it would still not change his view of the two of them.

Perhaps the two of them had taken the headmaster's view of the two of them into account when deciding to give them this position as well.

Still, it was a fact that the four of them had been together for quite so ti and now, it was ti for them to leave this office to the two of them.

"Co here, you two. You have to see this now that you're here." The two of them brought them here not just to show them the empty office.

They were going to be the ones working in this office from now on. It was their office now, so they needed to know so of the important things about their office.

"Hmm?" Del led them to the back of the small room, right beside the window, and showed them sothing that had been hidden under a certain photo fra.

"Huh? How did I…" Eon was surprised how he had missed this obvious thing even after scanning this entire room so many tis over the years.

"It has been there ever since the office was created." In a nostalgic voice and a smile of his own, Zodiac walked up to them and moved his hand on the words engraved on the wall.

[ "This office is the proof of change." ]

"It's written in a cryptic language and still, we can just read it for so reason." Del had always found it strange how these words simply made sense to her.

They could not read the script that they were written in and yet they were sohow able to make sense of those words.

"That's because they're the [Soul Runes]. I've never really seen them outside of the tower though."

The Library that they had in the tower contained a sentence like this that his master had left behind. Also, within the tower, there were two other places where she had written sothing in this script.

"I sohow knew you would know what this is, haha." Zodiac wasn't surprised by this anymore. Eon's knowledge was simply beyond what he could understand.

The fact that Eon knew about sothing even the headmaster did not simply show the vast information that was stored in his head.

He also did not forget anything so with his eyes that noticed even the smallest of the details about sothing, he was, in a way, an ideal candidate for the position of a president.

"This is… surprising." Eon did not know about this script because of not the script itself, but because of the painting that was covering it.

"Hmm?"

The two of them could not tell, but Rein could see the unique barrier that the painting was creating around these words.

The fra itself wasn't the barrier but the drawing that was made on the canvas within it.

"I think the headmaster said that the painting is from his ti. He did not make it though… it was the vice president from his ti."

The painting wasn't that unique. It was a simple landscape, a view that one can see in the morning from the window right beside the painting.

"This is a legacy then. I think-."

"No, Lucifer. I think this is a gift." Rein could see the warmth that this painting was made with and though she could not describe it, she could also see the unique purity that each and every one of the strokes that the painting contained.

It was strange in a way, but also amazing.

"They left it for us. To protect the Erosion of the words behind it, and for us who would take over this office."

The barrier that the painting made was unique. It could only be lifted by the people who have taken the Oath of Office and were appointed as the heads of the student council.

The dium that the barrier used to distinguish between who had the authority was Sir Quesnel's unique neural network– which simply made the spell equal to that of a (tier-9) support-series, unique attribute spell.

"A proven legitimacy, is it?" Eon could understand what the creator of this barrier might have wanted.

They sohow understood the walls of the office were not strong enough to handle the power of these words for too long.

Perhaps they also understood the one who carved them on these walls wanted soone to protect them for the generations that followed.

And the fact that they understood it and protected this legacy with their own simply showed how amazing the person might have been.

"We should ask him about them soday." Eon placed the painting down with a smile and covered the words once again.

There were so new thoughts on his mind, thoughts about how this office might have seen much more than he could expect, things related to the past, as well as how they were going to be the ones holding the positions that amazing people like the headmaster and president Zod had.

"Let's begin with the final proceedings now, shall we?"

He looked back at the ti that he had spent in this office as a mber of the student council.

There have been tis when they worked here along with their presidents, and laughed around, discussed the important and serious matters, to how they made fun of each other.

Del was a hot-tempered one so she usually got angry quickly. Zodiac was the one that had to face her wrath. Rein had to calm her down, while Eon had to help the two of them.

Their ti in the office was quite fun, but it was going to be just the two of them from now on.

"Sure, let's finish those things. But first…" President Zodiac pushed out the chair that had belonged to him all this ti.

And Cradle did the sa for her place.

"Why don't you take your seat, Mister President and Miss Vice President?"

They knew they weren't going to regret this decision.

Giving both of them this position ant they would have more power, but their ethics won't allow them to misuse that power.

They had learned at least that much after being with them all this ti.

They trusted them enough to entrust this important position to them. So, they had pretty high expectations of the two of them.

And they hoped these two dimwits would go beyond their expectations.
