"This has to be a joke. If that thing reaches Tokyo, how can anyone survive?"
"Tokyo's finished. It's dood."
"Everyone will die. No one can escape."
The wails of Tokyo's citizens reached Altair's ears.
He nodded in satisfaction. These people needed this shock. As for those foolish enough to harass Cursed Children now, they wouldn't dare target the Initiators under Civil Security protection. They'd go after strays, but Altair had already gathered most of them. If he couldn't find them, these cowards had no chance.
Beyond the Monoliths, Scorpio lood less than five kiloters away, its colossal form trailing a canyon ford by flooding seawater, reshaping Tokyo's outskirts.
Altering terrain was sothing Altair could do too. Where the electromagnetic railgun once stood, a massive crater now filled with groundwater, soon to beco an artificial lake.
"Sorry, but your journey ends here."
Facing the advancing Scorpio, Altair rose, balancing on his hind legs. His wings unfurled fully, fanning out like a peacock's display. This ti, he'd unleash his maximum atomic breath.
A dramatic surge of energy coursed through him.
Blue light ignited at his tail, racing along his spine to his head.
The girls and Hiruko Kagetane watched, wide-eyed. The Initiators' combat instincts scread that Altair was preparing sothing extraordinary, while Kagetane simply craved another glimpse of that terrifying power.
They were equally stunned by the sudden, omnipresent music echoing across Tokyo.
"High-energy reaction! High-energy reaction! And… a strange music is playing, audible across the entire city!"
In Tokyo's command center, technicians shouted. Helpless against Scorpio's approach, they doubted Seitenshi's belief that the dragon could stop it.
Most thought her optimistic, noting the dragon hadn't attacked Tokyo since landing on the Monolith. But why would it help them against Scorpio? It made no sense.
Yet, under their gaze, the dragon moved, accompanied by an eerie percussion blanketing the city.
"It's actually acting!" A commander exclaid.
"Lady Seitenshi was right again, but what's with this music?"
"The dragon's wing spread, it's like an animal marking its territory, claiming Tokyo against Scorpio. This music feels like a hero's entrance."
"Tokyo's not its territory!"
"Doesn't matter now. Just make Scorpio leave, that's enough!"
Seitenshi, listening, sighed inwardly. She understood Altair's earlier words: changing this world required new leadership.
"Energy levels surpass the previous attack! The dragon's power is still rising! This strike will be catastrophic!"
Technicians, focused on their screens, reported data relentlessly.
"It's coming! The dragon's attack!"
On the Monolith, Altair's energy peaked, concentrated in his chest. His golden eyes glowed blue.
"Rest in peace."
His jaws parted, and a blue beam erupted, illuminating Tokyo's northeast. It struck Scorpio's mountainous body, its hundred-thousand-degree heat and energy piercing and lting it instantly. As Altair swept his head, the beam beca a blade of light, cleaving Scorpio from head to base, splitting it in two.
The earth beneath suffered the sa fate. The artificial strait carved by Scorpio widened, its depths unfathomable, the seawater within vaporized. Like Godzilla's breath, Altair's attack could pierce the planet, slicing a massive gash through Japan's main island.
Scorpio's halves collapsed, the impact shaking the earth like a landslide.
Its purple blood flooded the ground, staining an entire forest violet.
Having bisected and killed Scorpio, Altair ceased his breath, closing his jaws. His eyes reverted to gold.
But the attack's second phase triggered.
A violent explosion erupted where the breath ended, blue flas surging outward, igniting Scorpio's sundered corpse. Its surface charred and lted instantly, and the violet forest beca a blue inferno.
The blast ford a three-kiloter radius of blue fla, incinerating all Gastrea within, reducing trees, rocks, and creatures to ash.
Summoned by the Legacy of the Seven Stars, Scorpio fell to Altair's atomic breath in a single strike.
The dragon's wings folded slowly. Under the girls' and Kagetane's gazes, Altair reverted to human form: golden hair, silver armor, blue undergarnts, and a handso face tinged with sorrow.
Gazing at the burning flesh mountain, he sighed, "Rest in peace."
With a stomp, he crushed the tricycle that summoned Scorpio.
