According to the Witenagemot

The mage Eral Grela committed mass slaughter of the local Norwegian population in his quest to beco a Campione. He subsequently succeeded in summoning a Heretic God. According to the divinations of the oracles, the entity he summoned was none other than the Heretic Dragon, Nidhogg—the initiator of Ragnarok.

Upon Nidhogg's arrival, all living creatures within several kiloters perished instantly, unable to withstand the imnse surge of cursed energy radiating from the dragon. Soon after, Nidhogg was slain and returned to myth.

Records from various magical societies confird that none of the known Campiones in the world were present in Norway at the ti. The King of Swords was in southern Italy, the Marquis Voban in Eastern Europe, the Ruler of the Martial Realm in China, the Black Prince active in Britain, and Lady Aisha remained untraceable. Therefore, Nidhogg was not killed by an existing Campione but by a mage.

This could only an one thing—a new Campione had been born!

However, no one knew the identity of the individual who slew Nidhogg to beco a Campione. mages who ventured near the battle were slain by Eral's powerful magical techniques and beca fuel for summoning Nidhogg. The local Norse magical societies were too weak to approach, and the more powerful societies were located too far from Norway to intervene in ti.

By the ti investigators arrived after Nidhogg's return to myth, they found no trace of anyone. Ordinarily, a newly born Campione would be unconscious on the battlefield after defeating a Heretic God. But there was no sign of anyone.

Thus, the Witenagemot concluded that the seventh Campione had been born, though their identity remained a mystery due to so secret technique.

The title of Campione (Campione) is bestowed upon those who slay the gods and seize their divine authorities.

Campione—The King:

They reign as sovereigns, wielding the powers they usurped from the heavens, and ruling over mortals with divine might.

Campione—The Demon King:

No mortal can hope to match their strength, for they are unparalleled among humans!

The birth of the seventh Campione marked the rise of a seventh Demon King, and the magical world braced for the resulting upheaval. Across Northern Europe and the entire continent, magical societies tread cautiously, fearing when and where this new Demon King might appear. Any careless provocation could lead to catastrophe, for Demon Kings are notoriously willful and unrestrained!

anwhile, the Seventh Campione...

As Europe's magical world prepared to act cautiously, the so-called "seventh Campione" was hitching a ride on an old Norwegian diesel train.

Due to Nidhogg's descent, all flights in Norway were grounded, and the surge of cursed energy damaged a large swath of electronic devices. The Norwegian governnt blad it on an extre weather phenonon caused by global warming, which led to lightning storms and widespread electronic malfunctions. As a result, high-speed trains and airplanes were out of commission, leaving Altair with only one option—an old diesel train.

Sitting by the train window, watching the scenery blur past, Altair's mind was filled with a single thought: Campiones are freaking aweso!

Altair had indeed beco a Campione. After thanking the unknown Eagle for their contributions, Altair wielded the one-use magical sword Gram, painstakingly nurtured for ten years, to slay Nidhogg. The mont the dragon fell, he blacked out on the spot.

When he regained consciousness, he could feel the imnse power coursing through his body—a power vastly different from magic. It was then that he realized he was no longer human.

As for Pandora, the witch who grants the title of Campione, Altair had t her. However, due to the rules of the process, he lost all mory of the encounter upon leaving her domain.

Since then, Altair had been borrowing supplies from friendly locals and hitching rides, eventually boarding a train out of Norway.

His sole goal? To leave Norway.

Even though becoming a Campione had significantly enhanced his physical abilities—granting immunity to magic, imnse strength, and the ability to survive without oxygen for extended periods—Norway was still unbearably cold!

When Altair woke up, he realized the weather in this desolate place was snowing. He had been lying directly in the snow. While becoming a Campione had granted him the ability to resist such cold temperatures, his normal human instincts pushed him to seek a warr place as soon as possible.

So, Altair decided to head sowhere less freezing before making any further plans.

Retracting his gaze from the snowy window, Altair opened the interface of his personal system to check out the new abilities he had just acquired.

[Dragon Transformation:

You have gained the authority borne from the World Dragon Nidhogg. This skill has been added to your ability roster.

While possessing this skill, you gain the highest level of magical resistance and enhanced physical strength. When actively using this skill, you can partially transform into a dragon, sprouting wings that allow you to fly. Upon full activation, you can completely transform into the World Dragon Nidhogg. The duration of this transformation depends on the amount of cursed energy within your body. While in dragon form, all other abilities remain usable.]

And this was precisely why Altair had exclaid earlier, Campiones are freaking aweso!

The active transformation aside, even just the magical resistance at its highest level and the massive strength boost left Altair completely satisfied.

But then, he noticed a line of smaller text beneath the skill description:

As Nidhogg is an ally of the Earth Mother Goddess and a guardian of the land, while standing on the earth, you can connect to the ley lines through your feet to replenish cursed energy and heal yourself.

This was the most incredible part of the ability. It was broken! As long as he stood on solid ground, he could continuously recharge his cursed energy. Imagine fighting soone, transforming into a giant dragon to duke it out, running out of cursed energy, landing on the ground for a quick recharge, and then going back into battle. Wasn't that basically an infinite loop?

This was the best dungeon loot ever!

Closing the interface window, Altair's face lit up with a wide, satisfied grin.

Luck was truly on his side. He had stumbled into a situation involving soone who had spent 20 years ticulously preparing to beco a Campione, only to have Altair swoop in and reap all the rewards.

Once again, he thought: Eagle-san, thank you for preparing everything for !

From this day forward, he was no longer just Altair. He was Altair Nidhogg!
