"What are you doing here, Victor," Helena growled as she eased herself to stand.

"Nice to see you again, Helena," Victor chuckled as he ran his fingers through his impeccably styled blond hair. "Is that how you greet an old friend? And who is this with you, I don’t think we’ve t."

"She’s mated," Helena hissed.

"I am well aware, Alpha," Victor chuckled. "I just wanted to know who you’ve just dragged into our territory. It is my right."

"You have checkpoints," Helena scoffed as she crossed her arms on her chest. "Your warriors should be able to tell you."

"Ah," Victor said, shaking his head. "They were too distracted by the famous Alpha Helena arriving to realize they didn’t do their job thoroughly. It’s within my rights as Alpha to know who is in my territory, Helena."

Helena sighed and shook her head.

"At least let us put our bags down," she told Victor.

The Alpha nodded as Helena and Rae put aside what little belongings they had.

"My room is upstairs, there are a few guest rooms, pick any," Helena told her stepsister. "It’s been a long few months and it should be nice to be sowhere similar to ho."

Rae smiled at her and nodded.

"This place does look like ho," Rae chuckled. "Are you sure you want to leave? The Alpha in there looks dangerous."

Helena smiled at her and shook her head.

"I trust Alpha Victor with my life, we’re good friends," Helena explained. "The fact that he is here rather then telling Ro or my uncle that we’ve arrived is proof of his friendship to ."

"And the other Alphas?" Rae asked.

"If Victor is here then he represents them," Helena assured her best friend. "Go, get so rest. We’ll tour the city tomorrow, there are so many places I want to show you!"

Rae gave Helena a hug before grabbing her bag and climbing the stairs that were an exact replica of those in the Blackmoon pack house.

Helena let out a breath before turning to return to her conversation with Alpha Victor.

"What are you doing here, Victor?" she hissed.

She didn’t need to question how he’d gotten into her house. She’d given him access before she left, just in case of ergencies.

"I already told you, Alpha Roo has warriors placed at my borders demanding to speak with one of us," Victor explained. "On top of that, we’ve received almost hourly calls from his office. So tell , Helena, why the fuck is your stepbrother calling? Is it because you spirited away his sister?"

"No," Helena sighed.

"Also, you’re pregnant?!" Victor said as he pointed at her. "How, who? I didn’t even know you wanted a mate?"

"I didn’t," Helena grumbled.

"Caleb was at the Alpha Rite, he never ntioned you were pregnant," Victor added.

"It’s because no one knows," Helena grumbled.

Helena took a deep breath and pinched the bridge of her nose.

"Victor, would you do what Roo is doing if your sister left?" she asked the Alpha.

"Well, no," Victor confessed. "I’d send out search parties, but nothing to this extent. Okay so you didn’t kidnap your stepsister, so what is it?"

Helena let out a breath.

"What would make you react this way?" she asked the Alpha.

"Well, if my mate left I guess—" Vitor starred at her, wide-eyed with shock.

His gaze went from her to her pregnant belly.

"No," he gasped. "Caleb said you were his acting Luna, not his actual Luna."

"Caleb is not known for his attention to detail," Helena sighed. "Plus the stupid Blood Moon rose early, we found out we were mates right after all the pack oaths were completed and right before the run."

"Why isn’t this common knowledge? You’re clearly marked, mated, and fully knocked up. Alpha Roo has not once ntioned his mate," Victor said.

Helena could guess why Roo hadn’t told anyone that she was his mate. He was a smart man and he knew letting the world know his mate was missing would paint a target on both their backs.

"To protect ," Helena told Victor. "If they knew that the Blackmoon Alpha’s mate was on the run what do you think his enemies would do?"

"Go after you," Victor hissed, his answer coming a little too quickly. "Does he know you’re pregnant?"

"No," Helena admitted.

"Did you know you were pregnant with the heir to three packs when you left?" Victor asked her, his gaze intense.

"Yes," she answered.

"Goddess," Victor hissed. "You are crazy, woman."

Helena laughed and shook her head.

"I’ve been laying low," she told Victor. "I’ve been safe."

"When are you due?" Victor asked as he shifted the topic.

Helena hesitated.

"When, Helena?" Victor asked again, raising his voice slightly.

"This week," Helena answered quickly.

"Fuck," Victor cursed.

"It’s not as bad as it sounds," Helena groaned.

"What if you gave birth on the run?" Victor questioned.

"Then I gave birth," she answered with a shrug. "But I’m here in Sunfire now and I’m asking you to let stay."

"You know we would never turn you away," Victor sighed. "What do you want to do about Roo?"

"Can’t you just let him keep calling?" Helena teased.

"He has warriors at our borders," Victor hissed.

"Then ask him what he wants, stall, buy ti," Helena said, raising her hands in the air.

"Buy you ti to do what, Helena?" Victor asked as he narrowed his gaze at Helena. "I trust you, but I need to know what’s going on. I feel like you haven’t been telling the whole truth here."

Helena shifted her weight, unsure of how much she had to tell Victor.

"It’s sothing that needs all of you present," Helena confessed.

Victor didn’t answer outright, he simply glared at Helena.

"Alright, but I’m only doing this because you’ve proved ti and again to be trustworthy," Victor told her.

"Thank you," Helena said as she let out a breath.

"Oh and Helena, you should know that Roo inford us that he’ll be a visiting Alpha during the Blood Moon ball this month."
