284: Chapter 20: Begging on Knees 284: Chapter 20: Begging on Knees Nillie was cleaning her body.

She was sweating all over from the morning exercise she had just finished.

Roman lay on the bed, watching her from behind.

He felt her tense up, clenching and unclenching, her movents erratic.

He thought she was like a girl scared by nightmares, only calming down after she had vented everything.

And he was her ans of venting.

“Can you tell about the dream you had?” he asked.

“I forgot, my lord,” Nillie replied.

Roman thought it was his hasty blessing that had led to all this.

**Three Stars Nillie (Angel Envoy designation available)

Attack: E, Defense: E, Speed: E , Constitution: E , Energy: D

Talent: Deep Sea Secret Power—Life Form Transformation

First Skill: Go with the Flow—Small-scale Water Flow Control

Second Skill: Walk on Water—Move through water without subrging knees**

This was the first ti Roman had blessed Nillie.

She was about to leave, and it wouldn’t do to have no strength to call upon.

But blessing Nillie was as troubleso as blessing a Witch.

Maybe it was due to Nillie’s special identity, but when Roman was enhancing her, he found that not only did he need resources like gold, silver, copper, and iron, but also a Blue Gemstone.

The Blue Gemstone was among the treasures within the sapphires, quite valuable.

Among the hundred rare gemstones that Gael gave to Roman, there were indeed a few Blue Gemstones.

Naturally, Roman used one for Nillie.

Then she began to talk in her sleep.

Roman still believed this to be a good sign.

He lay on the bed for a mont, then saw Nillie squatting there, stirring the water in the wooden basin with her fingers, likely sensing the new power within her.

Conquest Knights and Spellcasters are different.

Conquest Knights require stats, but improving stats takes ti.

Spellcasters, on the other hand, just need the right opportunity.

Once they find it, they can cast spells—though the strength of their magic ultimately depends on their stats.

Logically speaking, if a person’s Attributes are all E, as long as their Talent is high enough, they can cast Basic Magic using Handprints.

He had upgraded Nillie’s Energy Attribute to D, essentially making her a Low-level Witch, and her learning and comprehension abilities were strong.

It would be easy for her to develop magic on her own in a short ti.

Playing with water is fine, but isn’t this play a little too prolonged?

Roman walked over to her.

“Is it really that amusing?”

He saw the water in the wooden basin being stirred by Nillie’s hand, forming…

“A whirlpool!” Nillie stared blankly at the whirlpool in the basin.

“Ah, but that’s your bathwater,” Roman sighed.

Nillie looked at him, astonished.

She was no longer a child; she had awakened, and she explained, “My lord, I just…”

“Alright, stop washing now.”

“Eh?”

“Otherwise, you might have to wash all over again.”

“Wait, I think…” she began, but he interrupted her by picking her up around the waist.

The work ethic in Origin City was 996.

Residents could only rest a maximum of four days per month.

But Roman wasn’t foolish enough to publicize this; what if it fostered bad habits?

If they dared to rest for four days this month, they might dare to rest for five the next, and Roman dared not think about how many days they would want off afterward.

So officially, they had no rest days.

But the residents would always need to take leave for all sorts of reasons, such as illness, injury, or caring for a family mber.

On average, it would be good if each person could take a day off each month.

Of course, there are sotis various unstoppable factors.

For instance, natural climate, in a farming society, once there is heavy rain or snow, the farrs can no longer produce.

Or social factors, such as the outbreak of warfare or harvest celebrations, also require massive shutdowns of production.

And Roman followed the 007 system, with no rest throughout the day, grabbing hold of various matters, full of energy in an almost absurd way.

However, he uncharacteristically skipped work for half a day today.

It wasn’t until noon that he erged, refreshed, ready for a al.

“Take a al to Nillie,” Roman instructed the maid.

The maid knew the reason, as there were few secrets that could be kept from them in the manor, so she did not ask further and delivered the prepared al.

Upon entering, she saw that the bed sheets were in complete disarray.

Nillie was sprawled out like a lump of mud, her whole body as if it had fallen to pieces…

Roman, with a spring in his step, ca to the hall and began to eat so bread.

Seth ca over from the dockside.

“Master, the pirates have been waiting for you for quite so ti; they say they’ve brought five thousand slaves.”

Roman nodded, “Let them co; I have sothing to say to them.”

Soon, a man with a scarred head arrived at the manor.

This ti, he brought along a trusted envoy of the Pirate King Alex nad Vesette.

“Respected River Valley King,” Scarhead knelt on one knee, while Vesette heard Finn say, “The Pirate King is very satisfied with the last trade, and this ti he has brought you a large number of slaves, guaranteed to please you.”

Vesette gave Finn a cold look.

He used to be the leader of a pirate crew, and now he’s a confidant of the Pirate King Alex.

The pirates had obtained a batch of high-quality weapons, which was a good thing.

But now he finally witnessed the thod of trade between the two parties.

What a load of crap!

His lungs could explode from anger!

This was utterly devoid of honor!

He was now extrely dissatisfied with Finn.

But Finn was no pirate, maybe once, but now he was a slave trader, responsible for helping the Pirate King dispose of stolen goods and trafficking materials.

The pirates’ code could not bind him; otherwise, Vesette would have hacked him down with an axe by now, refreshing the River Valley King’s perception of pirates with blood.

They are not beggars groveling for scraps!

Without waiting for Roman’s response, Vesette bluntly said, “You made us wait outside for half a day!

You have no manners at all!”

Roman glanced at the pirate who was lecturing him on manners.

Vesette was tall and burly, with abundant body hair, a fierce face, wearing boiled leather armor, carrying a wooden shield and an axe, and a sword at his waist—a typical pirate’s attire.

Roman gestured with his hands and said, “Consider this al as compensation to you.”

He offered these two n the opportunity to join him for lunch.

Vesette glanced at the dining table, grabbed a rich and fragrant pork chop, threw it to the floor, and grinded it with his dirty boot, the juices spilling out.

“Ah, this is disrespectful to .

Pick it up and eat it, and I will forgive your mistake,” Roman sighed lightly.

Clang!

Vesette drew his short sword, looking around.

This was a manor, not even a castle, completely unfitting for his counterpart’s status; it was debatable whether this young man before him was the River Valley King at all.

He felt toyed with and said angrily, “You were the first to disrespect us!”

“You dare draw a sword in my presence!” Roman’s expression chilled.

“Hah…” Vesette smiled cruelly.

The watching Void Witch raised her hand, and the sword was imdiately flung from his grasp.

Vesette was taken aback, with a swift reaction, he drew his axe and charged.

The Void Witch pressed her hand again, and a trendous force ca down, pinning Vesette to the ground.

He struggled fiercely, splintering the wooden boards beneath him as he desperately tried to pull out a sealed little wooden bottle from his waist.

“Don’t let him drink that thing…” Monica said.

Margaret gently raised her hand.

In that instant, Vesette felt as though all the blood in his body solidified, losing all ability to resist.

Roman remained poised and composed, silently watching the scene unfold before him.

His mood had been excellent today, feeling entirely comfortable, only to encounter a fool that ruined his good spirits.
