Aside from Lin Xinghai’s group of four, the others who disembarked from the plane eventually rged into three large teams after so intense negotiations.

Each team had at least 150 mbers.

However, none of them were moving. Instead, they were silently staring at the group of four.

This was because soone had remarked passive-aggressively as they disembarked, "So people aren’t willing to join up now, but they’ll probably just trail behind us later."

"After we clear out the Zombies in front, they probably won’t even have to lift a finger to get to the city center!"

Because of that remark, everyone present was now glaring at Lin Xinghai and his group.

The implication was clear: they wanted Lin Xinghai’s group to go first so they could choose different routes.

Lin Xinghai strode forward, and Little Fatty scrambled to keep up.

To be honest, being stared down by so many people made Little Fatty’s heart pound in his chest. ’If fighting wasn’t forbidden for the first two days of the assessnt,’ he thought, ’we probably would’ve gotten beaten up the mont we stepped off the transport.’

"Brother Lin, what’s the plan?" Little Fatty asked hurriedly after they had left the crowd.

"Yeah. First, we head to the city center," Lin Xinghai said.

Little Fatty nodded and waited. But after a long mont, Lin Xinghai still hadn’t said anything else, so he glanced over in confusion.

"Brother Lin, what’s the next step?" Little Fatty asked.

"Then we fight for the Energy Balls, of course," Lin Xinghai said, giving Little Fatty a strange look, as if to say, ’How do you not get sothing so simple?’

"No! I an a *detailed* plan," Little Fatty said, feeling a bit frantic.

For example, which route should they take? How should they fight if they encountered a Zombie horde? The plan should even be detailed enough to specify strategies for hordes of different sizes.

Beyond that, there should be contingency plans for everything: when to rest, where to take shelter, how to escape if they ran into a crisis.

Lin Xinghai’s simple two-sentence response was no plan at all. It was as good as saying nothing.

"What other detailed plan do you need? We just kill our way there," Lin Xinghai replied flatly.

As he spoke, he had already entered the city proper.

Little Fatty felt a retort catch in his throat, but he couldn’t get the words out.

At this point, though, he knew there was no turning back. He could only follow Lin Xinghai and take things one step at a ti.

...

Soon, the figures of the four-person group were obscured by buildings.

The three groups left behind looked at one another.

None of them had expected Lin Xinghai to leave so decisively, without a shred of hesitation.

"The second wave of examinees will arrive in half an hour. We shouldn’t waste ti standing here and give up our head start," the leader of one team finally said.

"Brother Luo is right," the leader of another team chid in. "But we should enter from a point farther away to avoid bumping into them later and having them leech off us. After all, we can’t fight for the first two days."

Soon, the remaining 496 people also moved out, entering Dong’an City from different directions.

...

Little Fatty was trailing behind Lin Xinghai, trudging along with his head down, when he suddenly heard a burst of intense gunfire in the distance.

The gunfire only lasted for a mont, but it snapped him out of his daze.

It was then that he realized with a jolt that their group of four had already advanced several hundred ters into the city without a single fight.

This was clearly not normal.

He scanned his surroundings and saw that it wasn’t that the outskirts were devoid of Zombies. In fact, he could see a horde far down the street, but it was over 200 ters away.

Zombies were sluggish during the day. At that distance, as long as they didn’t make too much noise, they generally wouldn’t attract any attention.

Of course, it wasn’t as if there were no Zombies nearby. On the other side of the street they had just passed, a few Zombies were shambling about.

However, their line of sight was conveniently blocked by a wrecked truck, so they couldn’t see the group.

The more Little Fatty looked, the more alard he beca. When he retraced their path in his mind, he was horrified to realize it had been like this the entire way.

Lin Xinghai wasn’t leading them in a straight line; he had them weaving left and right.

Sotis they took alleyways, other tis main roads, and they even cut through collapsed buildings on occasion.

Moreover, their speed wasn’t consistent; it was sotis fast, sotis slow.

Under Lin Xinghai’s guidance, they had advanced at least 500 ters into the city, yet not a single fight had broken out.

Not even a fool would believe there was nothing strange going on.

Little Fatty stole a glance at Lin Xinghai and saw that his expression was perfectly calm.

Then he looked at his other two companions. Liu Miaomiao’s expression was just as composed, as if she took it for granted that Lin Xinghai could accomplish such a feat.

Only Jin Tong’s expression mirrored his own—a mixture of shock and bewildernt, tinged with a pleasant surprise he couldn’t hide.

"Brother Lin, do you have so way of avoiding these Zombies?" Little Fatty asked, lowering his voice.

Lin Xinghai glanced at him without answering. ’Isn’t it obvious?’

Unfazed, Little Fatty continued in a low voice, "So, are we just going to sneak all the way to the city center like this?"

"No." Lin Xinghai shook his head. "Once we get a little deeper, this thod won’t work so well."

His current Perception Power could cover a 600-ter radius, effectively acting as a small-scale Zombie radar. That was why he could use buildings to block lines of sight and other such tricks to evade the Zombies in these outer areas.

But as they went deeper, the Zombies would beco denser. It would be impossible to avoid all of them, so they would have to fight head-on.

"Ah, what a sha," Little Fatty said, his chubby face scrunching up in disappointnt.

"What’s there to be ashad of?" Lin Xinghai said. "I was planning to fight our way to the city center from the start. We can farm so Points and hone your teamwork at the sa ti, so you don’t ss up on the final day."

"Uh... then why didn’t we just start fighting from the beginning?" Little Fatty mumbled.

"To keep people from mooching off our efforts," Lin Xinghai replied.

Little Fatty was montarily speechless. He really didn’t know what to say to that.

’Those other teams have over 150 people. Their Zombie-killing efficiency has to be way higher than ours. Why would they waste ti trailing us?’

At this, even Little Fatty started to think that perhaps Lin Xinghai was being a little too arrogant.

He kept these thoughts to himself, though. After all, from the skill Lin Xinghai had displayed before boarding the transport to his current ability to evade Zombies using special ans, everything was beyond his experience. Because of that, he couldn’t quite judge just how strong Lin Xinghai really was.

Ti trickled by. After about ten more minutes, they had advanced another few hundred ters, putting them one kiloter deep into the city.

Just then, Lin Xinghai abruptly halted.

"There’s no way to avoid this next group of Zombies," Lin Xinghai said in a low voice. "Fifty-three of them. Get ready to fight."
