"Hiss, hiss..."
A large snake with a flower-patterned skin crawled across a nearby branch.
"Ah!"
Su Xiui caught sight of the flower-patterned large snake and cried out in shock.
In an instant, Su Xiui jumped off of Lin Fei’s body and quickly ran several steps away, trembling with fear.

Yet it was this snake that ruined his mont, and Lin Fei was not pleased; he quickly hopped up, pulled up his pants, and in one smooth motion grabbed the snake right behind its head.
This cauliflower snake weighed at least three pounds. Lin Fei held tight to the snake’s neck, as it writhed mightily, coiling around his arm.

Seeing Lin Fei holding the snake, Su Xiui turned deathly pale with fright and said to Lin Fei, "Fei, aren’t you afraid it’ll bite you?"
"Sister Xiu i, the snake can’t bite ..."
Lin Fei smiled and said to Su Xiui, "You better pull up your pants fast, in case any little bugs sneak into your ’down below’; that’d be a real problem!"

Su Xiui sounded a little regretful.

Lin Fei called out and took the ingredients to the kitchen, where he started the fire for cooking.
He chopped ginger and garlic, then prepared dried Sichuan peppercorns, dried chili peppers, and other spices, and began cooking.
With a bright fire burning in the stove, the big iron pot hissing and smoking, Lin Fei quickly added so vegetable oil, and once it was heated up, he added a slab of pork lard.
After the lard had completely lted, Lin Fei quickly added the snake at, chicken at, and spices to the iron pot for a quick stir-fry. Once the at turned golden, he poured in water, brought it to a boil, and then reduced the heat to let it simr slowly.
There were two pots on the stove: one for simring the dragon-phoenix soup, and another for boiling rice.

Lin Fei extinguished the fire in the stove, ladled a big basin of dragon-phoenix soup onto the dining table, served two bowls of rice, prepared chopsticks, and then cut a bowl of chopped pickled vegetables.

Qin Yun responded from the yard to Lin Fei.
