Five hearts towards the sky.
Taiyin Refining Body Technique.
The Divine Soul is imrsed in the moonlight, continuously nourishing and steadily growing.
"Out!"
"Out!"
Chen Jichuan activated the Magic Skill secretly, intending to separate the soul from the physical body. Transforming Strength circulated, suppressing the body’s qi-blood to the lowest, not allowing the body to beco a shackle.
The soul trembled.
From ti to ti, a sense of detachnt would strike, feeling like a celestial being, but sotis it would suddenly sink, feeling imnsely heavy.
The third realm of Daoist Skill ’Soul Ergence’ was still lacking a bit of the final touch.
Unlike when Chen Jichuan initially used the ’Five Ghosts Yin Soldiers Skill’ to force a soul ergence, this ti, the breakthrough was purely a product of Daoist Skill accumulation, with no external assistance.
Once the soul departs from the body, it counts as a breakthrough.
But if one relies on external forces and misses the experience, they still cannot independently achieve soul ergence next ti, and Daoist Skill realms cannot be broken through.
The treatnt of symptoms but not the root cause.
This was part of the difficulty.
Chen Jichuan’s physical body was strong, with both Inner Strength and external skills being robust. But it was this strength that held back his Daoist cultivation, preventing him from soul ergence for a long ti.
The strong body nourished the soul.
The heavy body oppressed the soul.
It was hard to determine which was good or bad, but for Chen Jichuan to make breakthroughs in Daoist Skill, and to gain a deeper understanding of various Daoist Skills, he had to take this step.
Ti passed.
The moon was at its zenith, midnight.
The tug of war between body and soul reached its end; Chen Jichuan seed to hear a ’pop~’ sound by his ear, as if soone had just uncorked a bottle.
A sound echoed.
Chen Jichuan suddenly felt his body lighten, drifting like a balloon.
The body felt light.
He was floating mid-air.
Unable to keep his feet on the ground, it made Chen Jichuan sowhat panicked. But having traveled extensively and gained experience, he knew this was the state he had longed for day and night.
"Higher!"
"Higher!"
So he ntally urged himself not to look down, instead letting himself fly higher.
The farther from the ground.
The more panicked his heart beca.
Chen Jichuan forcibly suppressed the fear, continuing to internally chant, "Ascend! Ascend! Ascend!"
He did not know how much higher he had ascended.
Only that the hands that seed to be holding him down unpredictably vanished, and he felt even lighter, drifting, unfettered.
At that mont.
Chen Jichuan finally relaxed and opened his eyes, first glancing downwards, seeing below, a middle-aged man in a Daoist robe, sitting solidly and handsoly on the ground, about one zhàng in height below him.
Looking up.
Just less than two chi from his head, was the top of the cave. Through the chiseled hole, he could see the round moon in the sky.
"Out."
Chen Jichuan willed himself to flow like water or smoke through the hole.
He actually ca out.
"Soul Ergence!"
"This is Soul Ergence!"
An infinite joy surged from Chen Jichuan’s heart.
The soul ca outside the cave, gazing at the vast universe, observing the diversity of life, his mind infinitely broadened, and Daoist practice rapidly ascended, deeply imrsing Chen Jichuan, hard to extricate.
Unaware of when.
Whooing whooing whoo~
An icy chill swept in, the yin wind blew, causing Chen Jichuan to involuntarily shiver, a sense of crisis welled up within—
"Oops."
"Too long out of the body, too far from it, can’t hold on!"
Perceiving danger, Chen Jichuan did not dare hesitate, hurriedly retracing his path, first diving back into the cave, then diving headlong back into his body.
The physical body was like a furnace.
Dissipating the chill, resisting the yin wind.
"Hmm~"
Chen Jichuan groaned, finally feeling grounded.
Opened his eyes, lips slightly pale, the initial scare couldn’t hide the joy in Chen Jichuan’s heart, a smile appeared on his face, he stood up, walked out of the cave, looked at the bright moon in the sky, his heart filled with joy—
"Soul Ergence."
"Succeeded."
...
Mount Qian.
Immortal Temple.
This was originally where Tongshen Temple was, after defeating Qizhenzi, Chen Jichuan established the ’Dao Departnt’ beyond the three departnts of dicine, martial arts, and art in Baozhi Forest, outwardly nad ’Immortal Temple’.
Occupying Mount Qian, propagating Daoist practices.
In ishan Prefecture, selecting orphans and beggars with potential, teaching them literacy and the essence of Daoist practices.
Over a century.
It had beco one of the leading Daoist Temples in ishan Prefecture, comparable to Rao Mountain Baiyun Temple and Double Dragon Mountain Baoyi Temple.
On this day.
Chen Jichuan, along with the current master of Immortal Temple ’Feixiazi’, gathered in one place, took out three scrolls of yellow paper books from his bosom, and handed them to Feixiazi: "I’ve been in seclusion for nine years, organizing and clarifying all the Daoist Skills I’ve learned in my life, compiling them into three scrolls, which can serve as the true inheritance of Immortal Temple."
Over the years.
Chen Jichuan had indeed learned quite a few Daoist Skills.
There was Taiyin Refining Body Technique, Five Ghosts Yin Soldiers Skill, Circular Light Skill, Transformation Technique.
Additionally.
He also gained from Qizhenzi the ’Paper Cutting into Soldiers Skill’, ’Plow Head Curse’, ’Thousand-Pound Mountain Pressing Skill’, among seven or eight other Miao Fa or Evil Techniques.
From White Cloud Temple, Baoyi Temple also acquired quite a few Magic Skills.
Wandering the world for over a century, he also acquired many rare Dao books, from which he comprehended several Daoist Skills.
Nine years in seclusion.
Chen Jichuan organized all the diverse Daoist Skills he had learned, resulting in these three scrolls.
This only contained the true skills.
If taken alone, they are difficult to understand, they must be matched with the thousands of Daoist rolls stored in Immortal Temple to interpret them one by one for practice.
Upper and middle volus record the correct skills.
The lower volu records the sinister Evil Techniques such as ’Five Ghosts Yin Soldiers Skill’, ’Plow Head Curse’, etc.
"The upper and middle are true inheritances."
"The lower volu is not to be transmitted publicly, only the temple master can view it, violators will be severely punished."
Chen Jichuan stated to Feixiazi.
"I will strictly follow the teachings of the Ancestor." Feixiazi responded, looking at Chen Jichuan, asking: "Ancestor, now that you’ve erged from seclusion, should we have the other three departnts of Baozhi Forest co to pay their respects?"
The relationship between Immortal Temple and Baozhi Forest was not intentionally publicized, but as the temple master, Feixiazi naturally understood it.
With the Ancestor erging from seclusion.
The three departnts knowing, would surely have soone co to pay respects.
"No need."
"Too troubleso."
Chen Jichuan waved his hand, refusing outright.
Upon hearing this, Feixiazi also complied.
At this mont.
Outside Immortal Temple, a disciple reported: "Beixiang’s ’Zhuang Yu’ requests to see the Ancestor and temple master."
"Beixiang Zhuang Yu?"
Chen Jichuan turned to look at Feixiazi.
Feixiazi frowned slightly, suspicious and unsure: "Beixiang is sweeping the north and south, about to capture the last territory of Southern Liang. ’Zhuang Yu’ is the Emperor of Beixiang, why did he co?"
Looking to Chen Jichuan, seeing the Ancestor nod.
Only then did Feixiazi stand up, went out to welco him.
...
The Eleventh Year of Xiangxing, the Liang dynasty fell, and Xiang succeeded.
In the sa year.
Ancestor Chen’s Daoist Skill achieved great success, at Immortal Temple he passed down forty-eight Daoist Skills, then drifted away, whereabouts unknown.
At the ti, he was two hundred and forty-eight years old.
Later referred to by so as the transcended immortal.
There are also accounts of how Emperor Gaozu Xiang ’Zhuang Yu’ admired the immortal fa of Ancestor Chen, personally visiting Mount Qian to seek guidance, wishing to appoint him as the State Preceptor. However, Ancestor Chen was committed to the Dao, declined, rode away with two tigers following.
Emperor Gaozu Xiang sent people to pursue, reaching the bank of the Dan River, encountering two mountains standing side by side, tigers roaring through the forests, scaring off the troops.
When the roaring of tigers subsided and soldiers caught up, they saw Ancestor Chen by the river picking a reed and throwing it into the river, transforming into a little boat, floating across the river.
This story’s authenticity is unknown.
But on the bank of the Dan River, there indeed are two mountains standing together, later known by posterity as ’Tiger Roar Peak’, and the cave where Ancestor Chen rested before crossing the river is called ’Ancestor Chen Cave’.
The ’Yiwei Hall’ inside the Changlu Daoist Temple on the southern bank of the Dan River is said to be built in commoration of Ancestor Chen’s visit to the Changlu Daoist Temple after crossing the river.
This too’s authenticity is unknown.
