Returning to the courtyard.

Chen Jichuan opened the bundle he carried. Ignoring the rest, he first focused on the five volus of scripture—

"Sutra of the Lotus of the Dharma."

"Handwritten Explanations of the True Scripture of Dao and De."

"Yellow Stone Daoist’s Handwritten Notes."

"Five Ghosts Yin Soldiers Skill - Volu One."

"Five Ghosts Yin Soldiers Skill - Volu Two."

Skimming through them briefly, Chen Jichuan’s eyes lit up slightly.

Among the five volus carried by the Five Ghost Daoist, the "Handwritten Explanations of the True Scripture of Dao and De" was a Daoist scripture, while the "Sutra of the Lotus of the Dharma" was a Buddhist scripture. Both were common texts available in the market, focusing on explaining doctrines and teachings with detailed terminology and interpretations.

Chen Jichuan had read these before.

After flipping through them, he set them aside directly. He didn’t rush into studying the "Five Ghosts Yin Soldiers Skill" but instead opened "Yellow Stone Daoist’s Handwritten Notes" first.

At sight, he was imdiately drawn in.

"Yellow Stone Daoist’s Handwritten Notes" was neither a Daoist scripture nor a Buddhist scripture; instead, it was a collection of ’Yellow Stone Daoist’s’ personal musings—one might call it a travelogue, or perhaps a diary.

The content was sowhat disorganized.

There were trivial entries, such as today’s weather, current mood, or encounters with beautiful won.

There were also praises of mountains and rivers, including scattered descriptions of landscapes and terrain within Da Liang.

It recorded curious events encountered during travels.

Within it were ntions of spirit monsters and ghostly entities, as well as various heroic, sinister, or strange incidents witnessed or experienced by Yellow Stone Daoist himself.

It also included accounts of local customs and practices from various regions.

Chen Jichuan was engrossed as he read.

Unknowingly,

he had read through half the book.

"Huh?!"

What initially seed like an idle and useless journal suddenly brought an unexpected surprise halfway through.

"Transformation Skill."

"Circular Light Skill."

Chen Jichuan’s eyes shone brightly.

The latter half of "Yellow Stone Daoist’s Handwritten Notes" unexpectedly included two spells—

One was the Transformation Skill.

It could alter one’s body shape and facial features.

The other was the Circular Light Skill.

This was a spell of "external manifestation," a thod for gathering information. It was divided into the Great Circular Light and Small Circular Light. The Small Circular Light thod manifested visions viewable only by children, while the Great Circular Light thod Yellow Stone Daoist recorded could be seen by certain adults as well.

The forr was easier.

The latter was more difficult.

Each had its strengths and weaknesses.

Ordinary Taoists often cultivated the Small Circular Light—it was easy to learn but hard to master. There were also prominent Daoist experts who cultivated the Great Circular Light, which was difficult to learn and even harder to master. However, reaching perfection in it enabled one to investigate all matters of the human world, the heavenly court, and the nether realm—yin-yang geomancy, the past and future, spirits, and ghosts...

Within the Three Realms, nothing was beyond its reach!

Of course,

the Circular Light Skill Yellow Stone Daoist practiced wasn’t an orthodox Daoist technique and lacked such vast power; it could only investigate certain matters within the Yin and Yang worlds.

Even so, it was still an exceptional Miao Fa.

This skill, though described as a thod to "gather information," actually extended beyond "investigation" to include techniques for exorcism, blessings, spirit communication, and punishing evil.

Its subtlety was extraordinary.

During Yellow Stone Daoist’s wanderings in the mortal world, his use of these two spells earned him the title of "Immortal among n." His transformations were endless, appearing like a dragon whose head could be glimpsed but whose tail remained elusive. Even if he incited the wrath of enemies, none could track him down.

He lived a long life, passing away peacefully of natural causes.

This idle journal of his had sohow fallen into the hands of the Five Ghost Daoist.

"Transformation Skill is relatively simple."

"Circular Light Skill is far too profound."

Chen Jichuan couldn’t discern the relative complexity of the two at a glance, but Yellow Stone Daoist’s writings indicated that the Circular Light Skill required imnse determination and wisdom to cultivate, consuming significant ti.

The Transformation Skill, by contrast, was far easier to practice.

In two or three years, one could gain initial results, allowing for changes in appearance and, to a certain extent, the ability to conceal or alter one’s aura.

"The Five Ghost Daoist was shortsighted."

"Ignoring the infinitely wondrous Circular Light Skill for the Five Ghosts Yin Soldiers Skill instead."

Chen Jichuan shook his head quietly.

But he also understood.

Generally speaking, evil techniques were quicker and easier to master and had greater power, though they often went against natural order.

The Circular Light Skill, on the other hand, required draining amounts of ti and effort to cultivate while offering no significant accomplishnts in the short term.

In those prolonged early stages—

It could neither kill enemies nor protect oneself.

For impatient individuals, those with narrow perspectives, or those with nurous enemies, this skill would naturally be discarded as useless baggage.

"I’m different."

"I have ample ti."

Chen Jichuan’s lips curved upward slightly as he carefully safeguarded the "Yellow Stone Daoist’s Handwritten Notes," tucking them away closely. He also stored the copper mirror magic artifact, which had been blessed by Yellow Stone Daoist, alongside it.

Then, his gaze shifted to the final two volus.

...

The Five Ghosts Yin Soldiers Skill.

This was a technique for enslaving and summoning ghosts, one of the evil arts of unorthodox sects, often used by those following the demon path. It was filled with atrocities, harming lives and defiling the innocent.

Sounding simple and easy to cultivate—at least compared to the Circular Light Skill—

In truth, this thod was exceedingly intricate as well.

Within the first volu,

the introduction detailed a visualization thod, which served as the foundation for the Five Ghosts Yin Soldiers Skill. Even those who weren’t practicing it needed to perform the visualization a few tis to familiarize themselves with its symbolic language and talismans; only then could the thod be used.

Daoist sects across the world possessed unique, secret techniques.

The reason these techniques remained impervious to theft was that their critical ’language’ and ’codes’ weren’t transmitted outside the sect. Even if soone stumbled upon the thod, it was practically impossible to cultivate without these keys.

Attempts to forcibly practice the technique would only result in dire consequences.

"The thod is the essence."

"The technique is secondary."

"The forr is the staircase to the heavens."

Chen Jichuan carefully examined this visualization thod. Even with his limited Daoist abilities, he could sense an eerie ghostly energy brimming with sinister aura. Clearly, it was not of the righteous path and couldn’t compare to the "Taiyin Refining Body Technique" he had acquired from the Er Ban.

The forr was an evil technique that not only distorted moral principles but also altered the cultivator’s personality after practice.

The latter, hidden within the "High Above Moon Palace Taiyin Primordial Lord Filial Immortal King Jinhua Yellow Book," contained many principles of true goodness and beauty, guiding people toward righteousness.

One was evil, the other good.

One was deviant; the other righteous.

The difference was vast.

However.

Chen Jichuan had the "Taiyin Refining Body Technique," an exceptional visualization magic skill. There was no need to switch to the "Five Ghosts Visualization thod." He only needed to study it enough to activate the Five Ghosts Yin Soldiers.

Skipping the visualization thod,

He continued reading onward.

The first volu not only detailed the visualization thod but also included instructions for creating and using various talismans, such as the Summoning Soldiers Talisman, Soul-Snatching Talisman, Soul-Chasing Talisman, Soul-Suppressing Talisman, Soul-Hanging Charm, Soul-Locking Charm, Soul-Hooking Talisman, Collection Soldier Talisman... and so on.

Dozens, nearly a hundred types of talismans.

So were used to capture ghosts, others to summon them, suppress them, or kill them.

All were centered around the "Five Ghosts Yin Soldiers Skill," involving a myriad of sinister talismans, including instructions for the construction of a Yin Altar and the crafting of the Ghost Head Command Flag.

Even after a cursory read, Chen Jichuan felt overwheld, unable to fully grasp everything at once.

"No rush."

After putting away the first volu, Chen Jichuan moved on to the second.

The second volu contained ample content, just as intricate as the first. It elaborated on the specific processes for practicing the "Five Ghosts Yin Soldiers Skill."

Every aspect was painstakingly detailed.

It also included corresponding hand formulas, step techniques, and spells for enslaving different ghostly entities or issuing various commands.

An appendix provided descriptions of various ghostly entities from prior practitioners’ experiences.

The thod’s comprehensiveness,

filled Chen Jichuan with delight: "Mastering this thod will make secretly killing soone as easy as lifting a finger in the future!"
