After traveling for over two months, ’Green’ finally returned to his familiar holand, back to the well-known ’Oak Town.’
Four years ago.
Green had accompanied rchants from the town to deliver goods to ’Holy Luo City,’ a hundred miles away. By chance, two ntors from the ’Summoning Cottage’ were in the city, testing the magical aptitude of age-appropriate youths. Hiding his intentions from the rchants, Green went to take the test. To his surprise, he was found to possess magical affinity. Though it was a low-grade affinity, it was still enough for him to potentially beco a mage.
Green was ecstatic.
In ’Oak Town,’ he had often heard tales of mages, dreaming of one day becoming a noble mage himself. Yet, years ago, he had been tested in ’Oak Town’ and once again in ’Holy Luo City,’ both tis being told he lacked aptitude and was not chosen by any mage.
Carrying his final hope, he tried once more—and to his amazent, he passed. The state of his mind and mood at that mont could only be imagined.
Later, after arriving at the ’Summoning Cottage,’ Green learned that he wasn’t entirely without magical aptitude. It was simply that his talents were so ager that even the independent mages of the kingdom rejected him during the tests.
Only the desperate ’Summoning Cottage,’ along with the dejected Morris and Grant at that ti, were willing to reluctantly let him pass.
And that was the turning point in Green’s fate.
Four years flew by.
Due to the long distance, he could only communicate with his family through letters, unable to return ho. Now, having graduated, this was the first ti he was coming back in four years.
Seeing ’Oak Town’ in the distance, Green felt a pang of nervousness about returning ho. He rubbed the milky-white ring on his finger. This ring, called the ’Holy Light Ring,’ contained two square feet of stable storage space, allowing one to carry gold coins, magical materials, and other valuable items. Furthermore, the ring was imbued with a basic magic spell, ’Purification Light,’ capable of dispelling negative conditions to a certain extent and healing minor injuries.
The ’Purification Light’ of the ’Holy Light Ring’ could be used three tis a day. Of course, its primary function was storage. Rings like these were the preferred magical item for every graduate of the ’Summoning Cottage,’ considered an exceptional choice. Green had exchanged thirty-three contribution points for it, completely depleting the points he had saved over four years.
But it was all worth it.
He pulled a pristine white magic robe from the ’Holy Light Ring’ and donned it, then took out a magic wand to grasp in his hand.
The magic robe and magic wand were part of the graduation rewards for earning a full eight hundred credits over four years at the ’Summoning Cottage.’ Similar-grade magic items on the ’Summoning Cottage’s’ exchange list were marked at twenty contribution points each, equivalent to twenty gold coins—about the total net worth of an average middle-class family in ’Oak Town.’
After tidying himself up, Green looked completely refreshed. Thinking for a mont, he cast ’Purification Light’ on himself, making him appear even more vibrant. Then, he retrieved a vial of demon wolf blood from the ’Holy Light Ring,’ held his magic wand, and began chanting a spell softly.
Soon, a bat monster appeared before him.
The bat monster was initially only the size of an adult’s head. Upon receiving a command from Green, it transford on the spot, growing into a large bat with a wingspan exceeding three ters.
