"..."
Xu Lai had considered countless possibilities. For example, the Celestial Clan girl before him might pull out an Emperor Artifact, use a Great Emperor Formation to block his path, or have secret reinforcents appear.
He really hadn’t expected her to kneel and beg him for help...
Xu Lai’s eyebrows rose slightly.
Just as he was about to say sothing, he suddenly sensed a disturbance. He spun around and looked toward the East, in the direction of the Heavenly Court.
The pill lightning had vanished.
The White Crane Elixir was complete!
Xu Lai’s brow gradually relaxed. Seeing this, the Celestial Clan girl bit her lip and said in a low voice, "The Supre Emperor, my clan has its difficulties. Please allow this junior to explain slowly."
"No ti."
"What?"
The girl was stunned for a mont. In that instant, she felt an invisible pressure envelop her. With her Sea of Consciousness in turmoil, and with no defenses up—or rather, not daring to put any up—she fainted instantly.
Xu Lai’s figure transford into a streak of light and disappeared.
When he returned to the Heavenly Court, he saw only Shan Baiwan. The Tenth Divine General was severely wounded and guarding a pill furnace, yet he mysteriously radiated the fragrance of elixirs. He was at death’s door but, fortunately, still alive.
The Heavenly Court was filled with the rich scent of elixirs. The Divine Generals kept crowding around the pill furnace, eager to see which Emperor’s Elixir could sll so delightful. Just a whiff made them feel as if they were ascending to the heavens. At this mont, they didn’t know it was the White Crane Elixir. Nor did they know that the fragrance was actually emanating from the Tenth Divine General, Shan Baiwan.
"It’s the White Crane Elixir."
Baize, as graceful as a woman from the water towns of Jiangnan, smiled. "If any of you wish to try so, The Supre Emperor will not be stingy."
White... White Crane Elixir?
The Divine Generals collectively gasped and flew back tens of thousands of miles in an instant. A few of them began retching, desperately trying to vomit out the fragrance they had just inhaled.
This was an elixir that could poison an Emperor Realm expert! If they ingested it, wouldn’t they die on the spot?
However, there was indeed a foodie among the Divine Generals of the Heavenly Court—a female Divine General from the Human Race. She wasn’t very tall, just over 1.6 ters, and appeared quite slender, though her face was round and cherubic.
Her eyes filled with anticipation as she raised her hand. "I’ll take one!"
"..."
The Divine General Xuanwu was at a loss for words. He recognized her as a frequent guest at the Seventh Divine General’s place, scrounging for als even more often than The Supre Emperor himself. It had led to speculation within the Heavenly Court that these two Human Race Divine Generals might be Daoist partners.
Yan Chunfeng whispered, "That’s a Poison Pill."
"Will it kill you?"
"...Yes."
"What a pity." The female Divine General swallowed hard. "But it slls so good."
"Hahaha."
The other Divine Generals roared with laughter.
Only Shan Baiwan wore a strained smile, his plump body trembling.
The Supre Emperor knows I’m an elixir, so I’m fine. The other Divine Generals know I’m an elixir, and aside from shock and surprise, they probably won’t have many other feelings... But if *this* female Divine General finds out, she’ll definitely take a couple of bites to see what I taste like! This woman is the type who would eat any living creature or ingredient, as long as it falls within the category of ’edible,’ without the slightest hesitation or refusal. Compared to Divine General Taotie, who only knows how to fight and kill, she’s the real ’gluttonous beast who devours all’!
But who is that girl suspended in the air behind The Supre Emperor?
Without the power of her Boundary to sustain her Secret Technique, the Celestial Clan girl’s true appearance was revealed. The Divine Generals’ gazes slowly shifted from the elixir to The Supre Emperor, their expressions growing strange. Could this be The Supre Emperor’s new favorite?
Taotie said solemnly, "Supre Emperor, I implore you to think of your wife first. Do not—"
Before he could finish, Xu Lai kicked him.
Already badly injured, Taotie spat out a large mouthful of blood, and his pale complexion grew ruddy.
The First Divine General exclaid with excitent, "Thank you, Supre Emperor!"
That single kick had halted the deterioration of Taotie’s crumbling foundation and was now accelerating his recovery.
"Get back to Earth and heal," Xu Lai said with disdain.
"Yes, yes, yes."
Taotie scrambled off eagerly. Returning to Earth to heal was a great idea; he could see Wan’er’s face and hear her voice whenever he wanted.
The Second Divine General, Baize, tilted her head. "She’s a Quasi-Emperor of the Celestial Clan. How did she control the Emperor’s Corpse?"
Xu Lai lifted his chin.
Baize noticed the black bell in the girl’s hand. She stared at it for a mont before looking away. "How has The Supre Emperor decided to deal with her?"
"We’ll ignore her for now." Xu Lai’s gaze was piercing. "Continue with what you need to do!"
Baize understood. She waved her hand, dismissing the Divine Generals of the Heavenly Court back to the vast Star Domains they guarded. The Immortal Domain was imnse; without the Divine Generals standing watch, scoundrels would surely take the opportunity to cause trouble.
Soon, only Xu Lai and Baize remained in the Heavenly Court. Shan Baiwan had also departed. He had nearly lost his life under the pill lightning and needed to recuperate properly.
「The Heavenly Court’s Treasure Vault」
This was a restricted area in the Heavenly Court. Without a token, no more than five people could enter and leave this place freely. The vault itself was a colossal barrier, within which were countless smaller pocket dinsions, separating all manner of rare treasures by type and purpose.
In the small barrier marked number 818233, there were only two giants, each one hundred thousand zhang tall.
One male.
One female.
Xu Lai stood with his hands clasped behind his back, gazing at them. It felt as though ti had traversed countless ages only to freeze in this very mont.
HUM.
Beside him, Baize flicked her snow-white finger against the enormous, crimson pill furnace. Seven streaks of light shot out from within. They were incredibly fast, attempting to scatter and flee in all directions. These were Emperor’s Elixirs; even after the pill lightning had obliterated their sentience and their potential for future cultivation, they were still extraordinary.
Just as Baize was about to trap the seven White Crane Elixirs, she saw Xu Lai nonchalantly sweep his gaze over them.
WHOOSH.
WHOOSH.
WHOOSH.
All seven elixirs reversed course at once. No longer fleeing, they flew in unison to a spot one hundred zhang away from Xu Lai. Their light and fragrance receded, making them as obedient as new disciples awaiting their master’s teachings.
Baize: "..."
Heh. So Emperor’s Elixirs also bully the weak and fear the strong.
She casually pointed at two of the elixirs. "Go."
The two White Crane Elixirs resentfully flew into the mouths of the hundred-thousand-zhang giants. Xu Lai asked, "Using Poison Pills to awaken them... what are the chances of success?"
"Ten percent."
"Ten percent?" Xu Lai nodded to himself. While not high, ten percent wasn’t insignificant either.
Baize paused. "Or none."
Ten percent. Or none!?
Xu Lai nodded with a hint of regret, showing his understanding. Using Poison Pills capable of killing an Emperor Realm expert to awaken two corpses whose Primordial Spirits were extinguished and whose bodies were on the verge of collapse was, indeed, one of Baize’s whimsical attempts.
The two Poison Pills entered their mouths. The two giant corpses showed no reaction.
Baize was not surprised. She flew closer, ticulously observing and recording various data, sotis frowning, sotis nodding. Xu Lai didn’t rush her, waiting quietly.
An incense stick’s ti later, Baize beckoned again, and another White Crane Elixir rged into the female giant’s mouth.
This ti, there was a change.
Its scar-covered body began to radiate dazzling white light. It seed as if it were about to heal, but the mont the restoration began, the body began to crack apart again.
