Finally, the master couldn’t take it anymore.

He struggled to push the man with glasses away, gasping for breath as he tried to escape the penetrating sll of chives.

The man with glasses said excitedly, "Master, you’re awake."

The master murmured in despair, "Next ti, don’t eat chives."

He struggled to stand up.

He scrambled over to Xu Lai and, weeping, kowtowed. "Senior, spare my life! I shouldn’t have scamd people! I was wrong!"

"Oh?" Xu Lai squatted down. "Master, I thought I was the evil spirit?"

"You’re not! I am!" The master began slapping his own face, choking out, "I’m not human! I was blinded by the lard of a pig demon and had my mind muddled by the heart of a bear demon! I deserve to die!"

"Well, indeed," Xu Lai nodded.

"..."

Terrified, the master trembled all over. He regretted it so much! He was originally a disciple of the Yunxiao Sect, but due to his advanced age and low cultivation boundary, he could only work as a minor steward in the outer sect. Later, he beca addicted to the glitz and glamour of the secular world and began running scams with treasures he had stolen from the Treasure Pavilion. Who would have thought he’d encounter a real expert today! Even the Bronze Mirror had shattered. The cultivation boundary of the young man before him had probably reached the Golden Core Realm. In the Yunxiao Sect, such a person would be an influential figure with great authority. For him to squash a minor fry like , a re fifth-level Qi Condensation cultivator, would be as easy as crushing an ant.

To save his own life, the master sobbed, "Senior, actually, I... I don’t have to die. I’m willing to return all the money I’ve scamd over the years and be a good person from now on."

"You’re a scamr?" The man with glasses and his girlfriend finally realized what was happening.

The girlfriend was furious, but the man with glasses kept comforting her. "It’s okay, it’s okay. I didn’t scan the code, did I?"

Xu Lai wasn’t in the mood to teach the man another lesson. He just shook his head and walked away, taking Ruan Tang’s hand. He was just a minor Qi Condensation cultivator; a little teasing was enough.

While strolling by the sea, they unexpectedly ran into Xu Yaoyao and her husband, Liu Beiming. The couple was sitting on the beach, holding hands.

"Darling!" Xu Yaoyao instantly let go of Liu Beiming’s hand and threw herself at Ruan Tang.

"..." Liu Beiming glanced at Xu Lai and coughed, a little flustered.

He was rembering their first eting. Not only had he been shocked by Xu Lai’s terrifying status in the dical field, but he, the self-proclaid Wine Immortal, had been drunk completely under the table.

Since then, Dr. Liu refused to drink with Xu Lai ever again.

But he couldn’t lose his composure. He said nonchalantly, "You two are out for a walk, too?"

"Hehe, why are you still playing it so cool?" Xu Yaoyao patted her husband on the back and chuckled. "Xu Lai, my Bei Ming was just talking about you. He was saying your appearance has advanced Hua Country’s dical sciences by at least a hundred years."

She continued, "He said if your work can be thoroughly researched, it would be a blessing for the human race. He rambled on about dicine for three hours, even proudly saying that doctors from abroad now have to co to our country for advanced studies... I didn’t understand a word of it and just had to listen with a stiff neck. Thank goodness you two showed up."

"..." Liu Beiming was mortified. How could she expose him like that?

"Want to go for so karaoke?" Xu Yaoyao looked at her best friend and winked. "I still have a mbership card that I’ve never had a chance to use."

"Just the two of us?" Ruan Tang considered it. "Let’s call Luo Chu. She loves to sing more than anyone."

"Alright!"

As the saying goes, three won are enough for a drama. They instantly forgot all about their husbands.

"Bei Ming, you can go ho," Xu Yaoyao said.

"Huh?" Liu Beiming was stunned. "I finally got half the afternoon off! I drove three hours to get back here, and you’re..."

"Go on, go on," Xu Yaoyao waved her hand impatiently. "We sisters are having a get-together. We’re going to share so secrets, so it’s not convenient for you to tag along."

"..." Liu Beiming was speechless.

Xu Lai chuckled lightly. Ruan Tang wouldn’t say sothing like that.

He turned his head and saw his wife’s eyes, as gentle as water.

Hmm... right. I get it.

Xu Lai pressed a hand to his forehead. "Then call when your party’s over. I’ll co pick you all up."

"Let’s go!" Xu Yaoyao and Ruan Tang left together.

Xu Lai withdrew his gaze from his wife and smiled. "Dr. Liu, want to call Qian Song and have a drink, just the three of us?"

"I am a doctor. I do not drink," Liu Beiming said with a straight face. "I must be responsible for my patients, and more importantly, for this white coat I wear!"

If Xu Lai hadn’t personally seen the man drunk under a table, hugging a table leg and yelling, "Yaoyao, I love you so much," he might have actually believed him.

"But we can discuss dical arts," Liu Beiming said, his eyes gleaming with passion.

"Right, okay. See you next ti. Get so rest," Xu Lai said, waving him off.

"???" A cluster of question marks appeared over Liu Beiming’s head.

Xu Lai returned to Haitang Court. With nothing else to do, he began to clean the house ticulously, refusing to let a single speck of dust escape his notice in any corner.

"’Supre Emperor.’"

A divine sense transmission ca through in a very gentle voice. It was Yan Chunfeng, the Fourth Divine General.

She was usually stationed in the Southern Immortal Domain and was the second-strongest female Divine General in the Heavenly Court, second only to Divine General Baize.

"The various Holy Lands and Tao Lineages have asked to deliver so Starfish to you. Their hospitality was so overwhelming, I simply couldn’t refuse," Yan Chunfeng said. "There are also so precious Spirit Plants, three of which are over a million years old."

Xu Lai was taken aback. A million-year-old Spirit Plant was practically a Holy dicine. Those old fossils from the Holy Lands wouldn’t even part with one for themselves, yet they were willing to give them to him?

"Supre Emperor, the investigation you asked to conduct has turned up sothing strange," Yan Chunfeng said, choosing her words carefully. "The three coordinates you marked are where the Snowflowers grow. The surrounding million li is a forbidden area. But before my dispatched Heavenly Soldiers were even within a million li of the location, they all vanished. Their life tokens..."

"Shattered?" Xu Lai finished.

Yan Chunfeng shook her head. "They haven’t shattered, but they show no signs of life. They’ve simply beco inactive."

Xu Lai’s brow furrowed.

Cultivators in the Immortal Domain, regardless of their background, would almost always prepare one or more life tokens, keeping them at ho or within their sect gates. A low-grade life token could only indicate two states: shattered upon death or intact while alive. Life tokens from the Heavenly Court, however, were of the highest grade. Not only could they sense a cultivator’s life or death, but they could also pinpoint their exact location, even down to a specific star system within the Dead Realm.

Of course, they couldn’t be detected inside a forbidden area of the Immortal Domain like the Samsara Sea. But according to Yan Chunfeng, the dispatched Heavenly Soldiers hadn’t even entered the forbidden area before their life tokens mysteriously malfunctioned. This had never happened before.

"This general humbly requests your presence, Supre Emperor," Yan Chunfeng said respectfully.

"Mm," Xu Lai nodded.

The three Snowflowers in the Boundless Sea were located in three forbidden zones—three deathtraps where seven Quasi-Emperors had died in the past. An Immortal Venerable like Yan Chunfeng could go in to investigate, but once inside a forbidden area, survival was a matter of luck. No wonder the old fossils of the Southern Immortal Domain were willing to bleed so profusely and offer three million-year-old Spirit Plants. They must have caught wind of sothing from the three forbidden zones in the Boundless Sea.

After a mont’s thought, Xu Lai called Ruan Tang. He just said sothing urgent had co up, omitting that it was related to the coordinates within the third character of the Cloud Water Rust.

"Go on, then. The sooner you leave, the sooner you’ll be back."

"Right. I’ll take Yiyi and Qian Xiao with on the way."

"Mm."

Xu Lai left Earth.

As he passed the Moon, he saw the three little ones still rummaging through a pit of corpses for clothes and broken weapons.

Xu Lai landed on the edge of the pit and said nonchalantly, "Let’s go. I’m taking you to get so fish."
