At Haitang Court, the night was as cool as water. Yun Jin had gone to sleep in a guest room on the second floor.

Taotie, having returned from the Dead Realm, sat in the living room and watched The Supre Emperor. Xu Lai was flipping through a Great Emperor’s moir, appearing to be searching for sothing. The First Divine General dared not disturb him. After waiting for a full half-hour, he finally found an opening and asked urgently, "The Supre Emperor, why did you let Emperor Wanyun go? And Heavenly Dao definitely has a secret. He was sohow able to locate the tombs of the Ancient Great Emperors."

"Finding one is a great blessing. Finding two is a heaven-defying stroke of luck. But he found dozens and even broke the restrictive seals on more than ten Emperor Realm tombs!"

"The Supre Emperor, I request permission to—"

"Shut up," Xu Lai said flatly.

"..."

Taotie instantly fell silent.

Xu Lai spoke. "Everyone has secrets. What is the point of prying into those of others?"

"But he..."

"Whether he has Magical Treasures that can sense Emperor Realm fluctuations or it’s due to his own talent or a special technique, it has nothing to do with us."

Xu Lai continued to flip through the moir and said calmly, "Tell , what have I always taught you?"

"Do not impose on others what you yourself do not desire," Taotie said in a small voice.

"Good that you rember." Xu Lai did not look up. "It’s late. Liu Wan must be getting anxious."

"Crap!"

Taotie’s expression changed drastically. In his eagerness to watch the battle between emperors, he had left Liu Wan at a barbecue shop on the beach, telling her he would be back in a mont. After all this ti, he had no idea if she was still waiting impatiently.

"Wait."

Xu Lai called out to Taotie.

To the First Divine General’s astonishnt, Xu Lai took a whole durian from the kitchen refrigerator.

"The Supre Emperor, neither Liu Wan nor I eat this..."

"This is a variety from the Immortal Domain. According to the Seventh Divine General, it doesn’t hurt to kneel on it. You might need it today."

"..."

Holding the durian, Taotie left with a strange expression.

I probably won’t need this. How could Wan’er ever bear to make kneel on a durian? The poor Supre Emperor, on the other hand, seems to have so much experience. Next ti I see the Mistress, I’d better be more polite. She can even make The Supre Emperor kneel on a durian. How terrifying.

Xu Lai was unaware of Divine General Taotie’s misunderstanding, and even if he knew, he probably wouldn’t have bothered to explain. He was flipping through Emperor Wanyun’s diary—though calling it a diary was inaccurate; they were rely a few casually recorded fragnts. Within them, Xu Lai did find so useful information.

The Wanyun Clan was indeed cursed. Even if its mbers reached the Quasi-Emperor Realm, their lifespans would not exceed one hundred thousand years. Wan Yun speculated this was due to their cultivation of "Qi Yun." To control one’s own destiny was to break the laws of heaven and earth, so how could Heavenly Dao allow such a race to grow infinitely powerful? But Wan Yun had found a loophole. When the curse was about to descend, she leveraged the Qi Yun of the myriad races in the Immortal Domain to overco her hundred-thousand-year calamity, and she succeeded. Because of this, however, a few tens of thousands of years later, Wan Yun encountered an inauspicious event.

"An inauspicious event?"

Xu Lai frowned. The diary only ntioned this with a few sloppy strokes before a large section of the text disappeared. It did not even say how the Bronze Coffin had managed to seal her.

When the writing resud, it spoke of Jing Ke: a foolishly infatuated man who, without ever having seen her face, decided to devote his life to her.

But Wan Yun was delighted. To break her curse, she had hidden in darkness for a hundred thousand years, plotting to use the Qi Yun of the myriad races. The mont she erged, she beca an emperor. No one in the world dared to stand as her equal, much less profess their love for her—until she t Jing Ke.

Then, the text simply ended.

Xu Lai shook his head and turned his attention to a bamboo slip among the other moirs. The slip was made of ordinary Purple Bamboo from the Immortal Domain. This type of bamboo typically lasted only ten thousand years before being rapidly eroded by ti, and this particular slip was heavily damaged. Yet it had clearly survived for much longer. This was the moir of the Chaos Purple Lotus Demon Emperor, and it had been passed down for thirty-seven epochs.

The moir recorded so interesting anecdotes about the Immortal Domain. In an inconspicuous corner, Xu Lai saw the line: "Purple Spirit born beside an emperor is a great disaster." The writing was not blood-red, nor was it filled with resentnt, and the Demon Emperor’s moir was undamaged.

If Taotie hadn’t exposed everything Heavenly Dao was hiding, who knows how long that brat would have kept this from ?

The Purple Spirit existed within Spiritual Energy and was exceptionally pure. A few days ago, while studying the second of the Cloud Water Rust Characters in the school infirmary, Xu Lai had sensed its presence. At that sa mont, the second Cloud Water Rust Character had transford into a streak of light, entering his sea of consciousness. It floated there, absorbing all the surrounding purple substance like a whale devouring tiny fish and shrimp.

In the moir of the Chaos Purple Lotus Demon Emperor, the Purple Spirit was described as ominous. He had refused to absorb it, yet it would still integrate into his body automatically.

In the moirs of two other Great Emperors, Xu Lai found their descriptions of the Purple Spirit as well. Surprisingly, these two believed it was a special type of spiritual energy that only Emperor Realm experts could sense and absorb. They considered it incredibly precious and capable of accelerating progress in one’s Boundary.

Both were convinced that by absorbing enough Purple Spirit, it would be possible to break through the Emperor Realm, enter the true realm of eternal life, and beco as immortal and indestructible as the Universe itself.

Xu Lai pondered for a long ti. Was the Purple Spirit that appeared beside Emperor Realm experts a blessing or a curse? Whether it was good or bad, Xu Lai didn’t particularly care. The second Cloud Water Rust Character in his sea of consciousness had already stripped him of this blessing or curse entirely.

Just then, Ruan Tang ca downstairs. "You found Yun Jin. Why aren’t you in bed yet?"

Xu Lai looked over. Ruan Tang was wearing a red silk nightgown that outlined her perfect curves as she leaned against the sofa with a hint of languor.

Xu Lai waved the tattered moir in his hand. "Just looking at this."

After the wisp of Wan Yun’s remnant will left Yun Jin’s body, Yun Jin’s existence was fully restored to the world, no longer erased from everyone’s mory. When Wan Yun learned that Xu Lai’s daughter still rembered Yun Jin, she was more shocked than when she had learned an Emperor could have a child. This Divine Skill was sothing she had researched from the Cloud Water Rust on the Bronze Coffin. She had used it three tis, and it had never failed. It could even deceive the Emperors of the current era, yet it couldn’t fool a little girl at the Golden Core stage?

Of course, Wan Yun did not voice her shock. From the mont they set foot on the path of cultivation, those who reached the Celestial Venerable or Immortal Venerable Realms were all masters of controlling their expressions. A Great Emperor of a generation like her was the pinnacle of such self-control.

"What book is that?" Ruan Tang extended a slender, pale arm and wrapped it around Xu Lai’s neck, her eyes sparkling. "You seem completely fascinated."

Xu Lai raised an eyebrow. He casually tossed the moir onto the coffee table—an artifact that could drive every Tao Lineage and Holy Land in the Immortal Domain into a frenzy, a treasure worth more than a city. Scooping Ruan Tang up by the waist, he gave her a light kiss on the lips.

"Ti for a eting?"

"..."

Ruan Tang didn’t speak. She gently rested her head against Xu Lai’s chest as one of her hands snaked quietly inside his clothes.
