"No, thanks." Xu Lai shook his head. "A friend is here. I’m going down the mountain to et them."
"Why not bring them ho? I’ll go wash so fruit."
Ruan Tang tried to get up but was gently pressed back down by her shoulder. "She’s one of us," Xu Lai said. "No need for formalities."
"Oh." Ruan Tang didn’t insist.
After Xu Lai went down the mountain, Ruan Lan asked conspiratorially, "Sis, do you think the friend my brother-in-law is eting is a man or a woman?"
"Whoever it is, it’s none of our business."
"What if it’s a total beauty?" Ruan Lan mumbled to herself. Seeing that her older sister wasn’t responding, she giggled. "Should we sneak after him and take a look? What if Brother-in-law is cheating?"
