Chapter 139: Ferocious Evil Spirits

Their voices, whether in tone or volu, varied greatly.

So of them even recited the words perfunctorily, showing no intention of "mimicking" them.

Yet the mont their spells were uttered, sothing in the surroundings seed to be suddenly activated.

The stench of rot grew instantly stronger, and the sunlight above seed to dim.

Winds began to whirl in from all directions, carrying with them a faint, indistinct sound akin to a conch’s song. However, when one tried to focus on it, the sound vanished without a trace.

Han Su sensed the surrounding changes and montarily froze, looking at them thoughtfully.

The effect was incredible!

These D7 mbers had spoken the encrypted spell with casual indifference, yet the result surpassed many ordinary people who had earnestly studied and imitated it. It was as if sothing innate within them effortlessly triggered the spell’s activation.

Was this the difference brought about by high spiritual activity?

Back when the Ghost Freight Truck incident had been concluded and before the arrival of the Flicker, he had cramd in so of the mystical theoretical knowledge he had previously missed.

He had learned that different people would experience varying effects when reciting encrypted spells, but ultimately, it was spiritual activity that made the difference.

His own spiritual activity, without reciting *Fisherman’s Chant*, now hovered around 30%.

To so extent, he could almost be considered a prodigy.

Due to his initially high spiritual activity, he had even needed to hide it in front of Red Trench Coat and Secretary Cui Qiao.

At the investigator level, spiritual activity typically ranged between 40% and 50%, aning that with his current status, there was no longer a need to conceal his high spiritual activity. In fact, compared to other investigators, he was now slightly behind.

Regardless, this awareness made his astonishnt toward these D7 mbers all the more apparent.

Their spiritual activity far exceeded his own—more than double, even.

Compared to regular investigators, they clearly held a significant advantage.

Truly worthy of being survivors of wave after wave of deadly missions…

"Buzz!"

Likewise, as the spell was spoken, the Double-Bodies stationed at Haifang Factory, already alert when they approached, now seed to have provoked so unseen entity.

With a rustling sound, all the Double-Bodies’ expressions changed dramatically.

Chill-covered faces revealed expressions unbefitting normal humans. One by one, they straightened their backs, and the crackling of bones could vaguely be heard.

Like statues awakening from slumber, they rapidly shifted from stiffness to a state resembling the living.

Their assembled smiles bore a sinister edge as they quickly advanced toward the D7 mbers.

"Hello, are you here to wholesale handicrafts? Apologies, this is a private area. If there’s anything you’re looking for, I can..."

With the intrusion of strangers, their "social attributes" had returned. The one at the front even extended his hand politely to Jackal with an apologetic smile.

Jackal stared at the smiling face approaching him, sensing the invisible pressure in the air.

He took a deep breath, an excited expression appearing on his face.

As the other reached out to him, he too extended his hand with a grin, clasping the other’s hand.

But in the next instant, he suddenly yanked the Double-Body toward him and opened his mouth to bite down hard on the neck.

A tearing sound.

The force of the bite tore off a chunk of flesh from the Double-Body’s neck and twisted it violently.

Blood spurted from the wound, instantly drenching half of Jackal’s body, yet he let out an ecstatic whimper.

However, despite the broken neck, the Double-Body’s face remained locked in its enthusiastic smile, as if it hadn’t had ti to shift expressions. Its head still lolled backward, but its limbs suddenly reached out and wrapped around him.

Its hands and feet turned into sothing like octopus tentacles, quickly entangling his body.

Jackal, surprisingly, was tripped.

Yet instead of panicking, he burst into laughter, rolled on the ground a couple of tis, grabbed a nearby stone, and smashed it hard onto the Double-Body’s head, further mangling its already broken neck.

Seizing the montum, he flipped the Double-Body over and smashed down again and again, growing ever more delighted.

A ferocity blood within him, one even the faint whispers in the air couldn’t affect.

The other D7 mbers acted similarly. Though they had appeared sluggish earlier, they now seed downright exhilarated.

They lacked any proper weapons—not even electric batons, let alone guns. However, the gloves they wore appeared rather special, covered in barbs. The three of them faced a dozen Double-Bodies as though they had the upper hand.

They lunged forward like vicious wolves, each strike delivered with imnse force.

Han Su faintly noticed that none of them moved their mouths or recited any spells, yet their attacks were astonishingly powerful. With the most basic of techniques, they eliminated one infected individual after another.

But unlike those three, Bowl-Cut Boy—or rather, The Ripper—remained lethargic.

He didn’t charge forward but rather stretched his neck in discomfort, dragging his shackles along the ground as he slowly shuffled ahead. When he finally stepped across the line and a Double-Body pounced at him on all fours, he raised an eyebrow.

With a loud *bang*, he delivered a flying kick at the critical mont, caving in the Double-Body’s chest and sending it flying backward—right into Iron Hook’s hook behind him. The body now swung back and forth like a pendulum.

"These guys... they’re practically butchers!"

Even Han Su was startled by the scene, secretly thinking, "Is this the edge granted by their naturally high spiritual activity?"

It wasn’t just their brutal fighting style—more crucially, their elevated spiritual activity made them seemingly immune to the ntal assaults of the Double-Bodies, as if madn weren’t concerned with going crazier.

Ordinary people had to worry about contamination and spiritual invasion when dealing with Double-Bodies, but these n didn’t even need to consider that.

It made them feel like they were crafted solely for eliminating infected individuals.

"Of course, not all death-row inmates are like this. The ordinary D7 mbers have had their records erased, untraceable by society, while those who’ve earned individual code nas—those are the elites among D7, right?"

"The longer they survive, the more terrifying they beco!"

Han Su silently thought, then turned to Hei Hu, saying, "Brother Hu, stay outside—or just leave the quarantine zone."

Hei Hu glanced warily at the D7 mbers and replied, "I’d better go in with you, watch your back."

"No need."

Han Su shook his head. "With them watching my back, I feel at ease."

There was no other explanation. Everything about this task thus far felt manageable—almost too easy—but Miss Ai had specifically warned him to be cautious. Who knew what they might encounter?

The unease in his heart only deepened. There was no need for a reliable assistant like Hei Hu to take such a risk.

【I shall descend into the abyss!】

Reciting Spell No. 1, Han Su’s form faded into near invisibility as he headed into Haifang Factory. Though many Double-Bodies surrounded him, none moved to stop him.

Apparently, the Disaster Managent Bureau’s operational protocols had been tested. The sharp contrast between investigators reciting Spell No. 1 and D7 mbers reciting Spell No. 5 effectively diverted attention, aiding investigators' infiltration.

As he made his way down the factory path, a Double-Body suddenly rushed out from within. The passageway was narrow, and Han Su had to dodge carefully. Suddenly, a chain lashed out from behind, wrapping around the Double-Body’s head and yanking it back instantly.

Han Su turned and saw Bowl-Cut Boy holding the chain.

The shackles on this guy’s hands were unusually long. They’d only looked normal because he had them coiled around his wrists.

Han Su nodded at him with a polite smile.

Though his figure was nearly invisible at this point, Bowl-Cut Boy still caught the smile and narrowed his eyes slightly.

He didn’t return the gesture at all. His gaze held only an inhuman numbness and coldness.

Confirming he’d left an impression on the man, Han Su turned and stepped into the factory.

With information from the earpiece fed by the Doctor, he moved effortlessly to the innermost Manager’s Office. There, he found a hidden door.

The storage room the Doctor had speculated about had appeared before his eyes.

"This guy didn’t even co in—he just observed from the outside and figured it out."

Even Han Su couldn’t help shaking his head, thinking to himself, "At this rate, once he matures a bit more, could he just write the reports himself?"

Refocusing, he looked at the heavy golden lock before him. He transferred the suitcase to his right hand, concentrated his spiritual power into his left, gripped the lock, and gave it a twist. His left hand emitted a faint tallic creak.

The sturdy lock instantly warped and shattered under his grip. With a gentle pull, he tore it free and tossed it aside.

He then returned the suitcase to his left hand and lightly triggered the chanism.

With a *swish*, a charged electric baton sprang from the top of the case.

"I have to admit—the Disaster Managent Bureau’s suitcases are incredibly convenient!"

Han Su even chuckled to himself at the flashy convenience.

Grabbing the baton in his right hand and holding the suitcase in his left, he nudged the storage room door open with his foot and slowly stepped inside.
