But after the call, apart from the applause of the assistant and the praise of the accompanying journalists, Fauci noticed that the other dical staff and patients around him all looked visibly upset... each appearing extrely indifferent.

Just a mont ago, these people were still smiling.

One of the nurses publicly threw the dicine in her hand onto the cart, shouting discontentedly, "I think I’m sick too, I need care, I need rest."

The following journalists, having so political sensitivity, imdiately switched their caras to other dical staff—this kind of passive work attitude couldn’t be broadcasted.

Yet another young nurse directly shouted into the cara, "The resources to take care of a frail elderly person are ten tis that of an ordinary person. Now with so many patients, we have to make so choices."

The doctor beside her imdiately drove the young nurse away, not allowing her to continue saying politically incorrect remarks in front of the lens.

The young nurse loudly complained as she departed from the cara’s view.

"A senior official’s dical insurance account is one hundred and sixty-five tis that of an ordinary person, allowing them to use the best dicines, the most advanced equipnt, with administrative orders ensuring they keep living.

What do ordinary people have? Nothing. Only unaffordable bills and ergency calls that won’t connect."

As an old bureaucrat, Fauci imdiately interrupted, "Miss, I do not agree with your view.

This involves complex dical ethics, it’s absolutely not a conflict between people, and even less related to positions or dical insurance accounts."

The young nurse, however, roared, "Liar, today you can make Mr. Harden step down with a word, forcing to save those high and mighty figures.

Then when I’m sick tomorrow, who will save , a little nurse? Will I wait at ho to die, or can I get into an ICU with limited beds?"

This remark plunged everyone present into silence, especially those dical staff—today they were in the ICU taking care of those high-status old n and won.

But those old n and won keep occupying beds without leaving, what if I get sick tomorrow? Wouldn’t I have to kill a few ’old immortals’ to free up a bed?

As for Fauci’s nonsense, whoever believes it is a fool!

When Fauci walked out of the ’National Rehabilitation dical Center’ with heavy steps, an indescribable regret and unease grew like vines in his heart. He realized that he might have really stirred up a big ss.

The United States’ dical system has always been affluent, dical staff enjoying enviable high incos, noble social status, and relatively easy working environnts.

They are used to being respected and treated well, never truly experiencing hardship, much less empathizing with the lower rungs.

Under the current high-pressure situation, preaching to them about ’sacrifice for others’ is like playing music to a cow, utterly aningless.

’Harden’ ordered the screening of patients flooding into the hospital, undoubtedly touching the sensitive nerves of the bureaucratic system, inciting nurous overt and covert criticisms and discontent.

But in the eyes of those exhausted and overworked dical staff, Harden’s actions showed them a glimr of hope and a chance to breathe.

This naturally gained quite so undercover support among the dical community.

"No, the situation absolutely cannot be allowed to continue expanding." Fauci tightly pursed his lips, his brow furrowed. He climbed into his private car, closed his eyes, and quickly thought through counterasures.

First and foremost, he would not give up the dical privileges he had enjoyed for a long ti.

Countless aged bureaucrats would not tolerate Fauci bowing and conceding to that reckless ’Harden’.

"How the hell did that bastard beco the Vice Chairman of the ’dical Efficiency Committee’?"

Fauci suddenly thought of an idea. He abruptly opened his eyes, using the car radio to contact the Minister of the "Ministry of Health" resting in Reid Fort.

After the call connected, Fauci expressed his concern, "Dear Minister, it seems the chairman position of the ’dical Efficiency Committee’ under the ’Ministry of Health’ has been vacant.

Currently, Mr. Harden, who controls this committee, is quite energetic but lacks professional capability.

I am deeply aware of the significant responsibility, and would like to volunteer for the position, hoping to contribute to controlling the pandemic."

Upon hearing Fauci’s proposal, the Minister on the other end was clearly stunned for a few seconds, seemingly incredulous.

Soon after, a cheer that couldn’t be restrained ca through the receiver, the tone almost losing composure: "Wonderful, Mr. Fauci!

This is exceptionally good news! You are the savior of the United States, the best candidate for the position of Chairman of the ’dical Efficiency Committee’!

I will imdiately approve you to take up the position without delay and without any conditions, so go and assu the role right away."
