Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Just Indulge Him Chapter 54: Chapter 54: Just Indulge Him Hearing the doorbell ring, Xi Kanglei and Zhou Rong exchanged a glance and hurriedly asked the servant to open the door.

Cheng Yi’s hair was sowhat disheveled from standing outside for a while, but it still couldn’t hide his handso face.

“Ah Yi, you’ve co?” Zhou Rong said with a smiling face.

Cheng Yi nodded slightly, then had Ye Rui bring over so items, saying, “Uncle and Aunt, this is a gift for you.”

As he spoke, Ye Rui handed over two gift boxes.

“Oh Ah Yi, why did you go to the trouble of buying gifts? It would be good enough if you just visit us often,” Zhou Rong said with a smile as she took the gifts and placed them on the table.

Then she opened one of the smaller boxes and saw inside was the erald jade necklace that had been auctioned at the charity dinner a few days ago; it was a piece of incredible value!

Xinan was also taken aback; she didn’t expect Cheng Yi to give her mother such an expensive gift.

Next, Zhou Rong opened the other, longer box and when she saw the calligraphy inside, she was stunned at first, then unfolded the calligraphy.

Xinan and Zhou Rong didn’t know much about calligraphy and paintings, so both of them were not very familiar with the origins of this piece.

But when the calligraphy was fully displayed, Xi Kanglei was greatly surprised! His expression was very shocked, even sowhat incredulous.

“Is this calligraphy… a work of Geng Hongyuan?” Xi Kanglei looked toward Cheng Yi.

Cheng Yi nodded: “Yes, it’s his ‘Half River Fish Fire.'”

Xi Kanglei could scarcely believe his eyes; he did not expect that one day he would see an authentic piece by Geng Hongyuan in his own ho.

Geng Hongyuan was a famous calligrapher in history, and many people in the world recognized his calligraphy, but for so reasons, very few of his works were preserved, so they had long been priceless.

‘Half River Fish Fire’ was lauded as one of the most influential works in the history of calligraphy, with a very unique style. He had a perfect grasp on the strength of his brush strokes, magic flowing through them like a dragon.

Xi Kanglei only knew that this piece of calligraphy had been previously bought by a private buyer, and he did not expect that this person would be Cheng Yi.

Though Xinan was not very familiar with this piece, she knew the na of Geng Hongyuan.

His calligraphy works, even a random one, were worth tens of millions, and Cheng Yi was just giving it away like that…

Xi Kanglei liked the gift very much but felt it was too valuable and said, “Ah Yi, I can’t accept such an expensive gift, you should take it back.”

Cheng Yi saw the hesitation in Xi Kanglei’s eyes and reassured him with a smile, “Uncle, this is just a eting gift for you, it’s not really anything expensive.”

With Cheng Yi saying this, Xi Kanglei naturally couldn’t say much more, but he still felt a bit uneasy in his heart; after all, Cheng Yi had already helped the Xi Family a lot.

Just before dinner was about to start, the villa’s main door was suddenly pushed open, and back ca Xinan’s younger brother Xi Xun.

He walked to the shoe cabinet by the door in his school uniform to change shoes, paused for a mont when he saw everyone in the living room, then said to Xi Kanglei, “School was out today.”

Seeing Xi Xun, Xinan was very pleased, although her brother usually seed fierce and rebellious, deep down he was actually very kind.

After speaking, Xi Xun grabbed his school bag and was about to go upstairs, but that’s when Xinan noticed his clothes were sared with mud, his hair was a bit ssy, and there were light bruises on his face.

Seeing him like this, Xi Kanglei’s face imdiately turned serious: “Stop there, what happened to your face?”

Upon hearing this, Xi Xun stopped in his tracks, but he didn’t turn around and simply said with his back to Xi Kanglei, “It was an accident.”

Hearing this remark, Xi Kanglei was imdiately inflad with anger and loudly demanded, “An accident? The mark on your face is clearly from a fight! Spill it right now, what on earth happened?”

As soon as the words “fighting” ca out, Zhou Rong hurried to Xi Xun’s side to inspect, and indeed, there was a scar on his face. It might have been several days since it occurred, so it was quite faint now. If one didn’t look carefully, it wouldn’t be noticeable at all.

“Xi Xun, what happened here?” Zhou Rong looked at him with a pained expression.

Xi Xun cast his eyes down, his tone sowhat impatient, “Haven’t you all guessed already? Why ask , is there any point?”

Xi Kanglei, unable to suppress his anger, shouted, “Xi Xun! Do you realize who you’re speaking to?”

“Other than yelling at , what else can you do?” Xi Xun coldly glanced at Xi Kanglei.

Xinan also didn’t expect Xi Xun to speak like this; having not seen her brother for a few months, his temper seed to have grown fiercer, “Xi Xun, don’t talk to mom and dad like that, they are just trying to show they care about you.”

“Care about ?” Xi Xun snorted disdainfully, “If they truly cared, they wouldn’t have only noticed the injury on my face now.”

A flash of dejection and helplessness crossed his face, but he quickly regained his composure.

“Xi Xun, do you dare to talk back? Do you think fighting makes you so kind of hero?” Xi Kanglei said.

Zhou Rong hastily intervened, “Alright, alright, stop scolding the child, let’s eat. The al’s been ready for quite a while now, Ah Yi must be famished.”

Xi Kanglei let out a long sigh, “You always spoil him.”

At the dinner table, Xi Xun then noticed there was an extra person in the house…

Xi Xun squinted slightly, focusing on the tall, handso man with an indifferent deanor before him; this must be Cheng Yi, the young master of the Cheng Family as ntioned by Zhou Rong and Xi Kanglei, his sister’s husband.

In fact, this was not the first ti he had t Cheng Yi. Many years ago, when he was still in elentary school, he had already had dealings with this man.

In elentary school, although Xi Xun was not as rebellious as he was now, he was also the kind who didn’t heed to discipline in school, so there were many who were dissatisfied with him, both openly and secretly.

That Friday after school, Xi Xun was heading ho alone as usual.

But just after stepping out of the school gate and walking only a few steps, his path was blocked by a group of people.

The leader of the pack asked, “You’re Xi Xun?”

Xi Xun scanned the crowd with his eyes; he didn’t recognize a single one of them.

“Yeah, what’s up?” he replied indifferently.

“My little brother says you’ve been bullying him at school?”

“Who is your little brother?” Xi Xun inquired.

“Liang Junying.” he said.

Xi Xun curled his lips and replied, “Oh, so he’s one of my defeated underlings, then? Did he send you to find ?”

Liang Junying was a classmate of his, who, for reasons unknown, whether for being botherso or just plain masochistic, always seed to seek out trouble. One ti, when Xi Xun couldn’t take it anymore, they got into a fight, and to Xi Xun’s surprise, Liang Junying turned out to be so weak that he cowered after a single tussle.

Unexpectedly, now he had even asked for so backup. Judging by this person’s looks, he must be a middle-schooler.

With that comnt, Xi Xun successfully enraged Liang Junying’s brother, “Quit your fucking yapping; today, I’ll teach you a lesson.”
