Chapter 41: Chapter 41: Car Accident Chapter 41: Chapter 41: Car Accident Xinan waited a bit longer, but the cars in front showed no signs of starting to move.

“Master, what happened up ahead? Why have we been stuck for so long?” Xinan asked.

The driver glanced at Xinan in the rearview mirror and said, “It seems there was a traffic accident.”

A traffic accident? It looked like the traffic flow wouldn’t be moving any ti soon.

Xinan checked the ti again, it was now 8:15. If she started running now, she should still be able to make it.

“Master, I’ll get off here.”

After paying the fare, Xinan started jogging forward, but after just a few steps, her ankle began to ache faintly. Xinan bit her lip, slowed her pace slightly, and continued moving forward.

As she got closer, she neared the site of the traffic accident.

All she could see was chaos on the ground; a rcedes G55 had been hit and was deford, its body dented, and its windows shattered.

The scene was extrely grueso, and Xinan couldn’t help but inhale sharply.

At that mont, soone was still sitting in the driver’s seat, and people were trying to extract him.

Xinan silently prayed for the driver in her heart.

The people around were buzzing with discussion, talking about the identity of the car owner, as anyone who could drive this car was definitely no ordinary person.

“The crash is so severe, I wonder if the person has any chance of survival.”

“Who knows.”

“But the person looks sowhat familiar. Seems to have been on TV before.”

“Who is it?”

“It seems to be Han sothing—I’m not sure if it’s the sa person.”

When Xinan heard this, she froze in her tracks.

She slowly looked toward the driver’s seat of the rcedes, just in ti to see the driver being lifted out, facing outwards.

That face, if not Han Jibai, then who?

Xinan imdiately ran over, pushed through the crowd, and squeezed in.

Han Jibai’s face was covered in blood, his hair disheveled, his eyes tightly shut, looking exceptionally ferocious and terrifying.

Tears began to flow down Xinan’s face, and then she crouched down, cradled his head in her arms, and her voice trembled uncontrollably, “Brother Ji Bai, wake up, don’t scare , please.”

But no matter how much Xinan called out, Han Jibai remained unresponsive.

Before long, an ambulance arrived on the scene, and the paradics took Han Jibai away on a stretcher. Xinan followed them to the hospital.

Secretary Li had noticed sothing off about the boss early that morning because he looked a little too handso today.

Of course, there was another thing; during the eting, the boss didn’t scold anyone and even had a smile on his face for a mont.

Secretary Li had never seen him like this and wondered to herself, “The boss is acting strange today, did sothing happy happen?”

Close to the end of the workday, Secretary Li noticed a detail: the boss checked his watch every few minutes.

Such behavior from the boss was truly abnormal.

After finishing the last docunt, Cheng Yi massaged his temples and then stood up, took his suit jacket from the coat rack, and walked out.

Seeing Cheng Yi co out, the driver was about to open the car door when he heard Cheng Yi say, “Give the keys, you can go off work.”

The driver hesitated but still handed over the keys.

Cheng Yi took the keys, got into the driver’s seat, and then stepped on the gas, speeding away.

The car eventually stopped at the entrance of Haowei Hotel. The manager had been waiting at the entrance and hurried forward to help pull the door open when he saw Cheng Yi’s car.

After getting out of the car, Cheng Yi adjusted the wrinkles on his suit and asked, “Is everything ready?”

The manager responded with a smile, “Mr. Yi, everything has been prepared as you ordered.”

Cheng Yi nodded, handed over the car keys to him, and then walked into the hotel lobby without any hesitation, heading straight for the exclusive elevator up to the fifty-eighth floor.

The luxurious crystal lights cast a faint glow, making the entire restaurant elegant and serene, with soft saxophone music filling the space.

Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, one could clearly see the beautiful landscape outside, the charming night skies.

At that mont, other than the waitstaff and musicians, there was no one else in the entire restaurant.

A waiter led Cheng Yi inside and then pulled out a chair for him.

“Mr. Cheng, would you like to start with your al now?” the waiter asked with a bow and a smile.

Cheng Yi glanced at the clock on the wall and said, “Wait a bit.”

“Of course,” the waiter nodded and backed out.

Cheng Yi calmly looked out the window, below were skyscrapers, neon lights flashing, crowds thronging, streets bustling with traffic.

And in his heart, there was a tempest roaring, a passion he hadn’t felt in many years.

Today, he wanted to give himself a chance.

A chance to re-establish a relationship with Xinan.

Perhaps Cheng Yi would never have imagined he would lose this ti too.

Twenty minutes later, Xinan didn’t co.

Forty minutes later, she still hadn’t arrived.

An hour later, the waiter ca in to ask, “Mr. Cheng, would you like so dessert?”

Cheng Yi’s brows were furrowed to the extre, “Just bring a glass of water.”

“Alright.”

As ti passed, his heart sank more and more until he felt utterly cold all over.

Cheng Yi glanced at the clock on the wall again, in two more minutes it would be nearly midnight.

It would be the next day…

As if making up his mind, Cheng Yi pulled out his phone, found Xinan’s number, hesitated for a few seconds, then called.

Ten seconds later, the phone relayed a cold ssage, “The number you have dialed is currently unavailable, please try again later.”

Cheng Yi let out a laugh, soft, but bitter.

What was the feeling like? It was as if soone had ripped out his heart, placed it on a fire to burn, hurt so bad it was unbearable, as if soone had slashed him viciously with a knife, pain so intense he could barely breathe.

Why was it that every ti he saw a glimr of hope, soone would ruthlessly dump a bucket of cold water over it?

After composing himself, Cheng Yi called the waiter, “Serve the al.”

The waiter gave Cheng Yi a discreet once-over this ti.

Although his expression did not change, she could tell he was very unhappy, as if he might erupt in fury any second.

She had the intuition he’d been waiting all evening for soone who never showed up.

The waiter didn’t dare say more, could only inwardly sigh and quickly exited with her head bowed.

Ten minutes later, the waiter ca in with a tray and set it down in front of Cheng Yi, saying, “Mr. Cheng, your al is served. Please enjoy.”

“Okay.”

Just as the waiter closed the door, suddenly, a loud crash ca from inside—a sound of shattering dishes.
