I still had a few things to prepare before eting with the fisherman. I road the late market to locate what I needed. After looking around for a while, I finally found it. I bought two large waterproof fabrics, large enough to cover the area of my carriage and trailer. I then went to my inn to take both out, applying the fabrics on top of the container level, protecting the wood.
Next, I directed the horses toward the sea and scoped so of it to fill my carriage and trailer, to act as a sort of small open-air aquarium. When this was done, I made my way back to the docks, where Ouxai told us to et.
It seed I arrived slightly late, or maybe he was early, because he and his boat were already moored. He seed relieved when I approached, as if he still wasn’t certain the deal was real.
“You’re here.”
“Sorry, I’m a bit late.”
“It’s fine. I got what you wanted.”
However, no matter how I looked, there were no fish anywhere.
“Where?”
“There.”
He pointed at the back of his boat and moved into action. It was then that I noticed his fishing net was still in the water behind the boat. He strongly tried to lift it while talking.
“Instead of throwing the nets many tis and getting a few fish here and there, I kept it inside the water the whole ti. This way, the fish should be able to stay alive for a whole trip. It’s not efficient, but it should work for what you want.”
“Smart.”
Yet, there was an issue. No matter how he tried to lift the net, he didn’t manage to do so. The weight of so many fish was too much for one person to lift.
“Hey, co and help !”
I was now hired as a helper, but even so, the two of us were not enough. Ouxai noticed people he knew on the street and called out to them.
“Hey, guys! Co help lift this!”
He might have been popular in the neighborhood because soon, there were five of us stretching our muscles at full power. Finally, the net was going up, and a large quantity of twitching fish appeared in our view.
“Thanks for the help, guys.”
While he simply thanked them, I acted as a rchant. I gave each a silver, and the three friendly passersby went on their way happily.
“You’re a generous one, aren’t you?”
“It’s basic to reward people for their work.”
I looked at the fish and found that, while most belonged to the three species I was aiming for, there were still quite a few different ones too. He seed to understand my gaze because Ouxai imdiately explained.
“I tried to go to the places where salmon, cod, and redfish usually are, but since the net was down all the ti, I caught a bunch of other stuff too.”
