Quentin’s heart tightened instinctively.
He could clearly sense the change in the car’s atmosphere; it was even more terrifying than the vibe in the eting room this morning.
"Hang up the phone."
A deep voice spilled out as Poe Vaughn turned over that page.
Quentin paused, looked at Poe Vaughn’s face for a while, then turned back around.
He didn’t hang up the phone, but after thinking for a mont, put the phone back to his ear, "Ma’am, if you can’t make it in ti, you might as well not go."
After saying this, Quentin hung up the phone.
At the mont he hung up, he looked at the person in the rearview mirror, that exceptionally cold face.
This was the first ti he defied President Vaughn’s order, and he was nervous.
Ava, waiting, hadn’t heard anything from the other side, but she didn’t think much of it and waited calmly.
She didn’t know how much ti had passed when Quentin’s voice ca through, landing clearly in her ears.
Ava was dumbfounded.
Don’t go?
If she can’t make it in ti, she shouldn’t go?
For so reason, Ava’s heart suddenly sank with a thud.
Surely, that person was angry!
Ava imdiately recalled the day of signing the marriage contract, how that person’s attitude was exactly the sa now!
She really...really wanted to punch soone!
Didn’t he have any patience at all? Not even a little?
It wasn’t intentional on her part, was it necessary for him to act this way?
A myriad of thoughts passed through Ava’s mind, her emotions surged uncontrollably.
Before she could utter a sound, a busy tone rang from the phone.
Quentin had hung up the call.
Ava instantly widened her eyes, staring at the phone in disbelief.
Hang up on her?
He... he was truly too much!
Ava felt angry, furious, but not at Harvey Quinn, rather at that person.
It must have been that person who told Quentin to hang up, that person was just that heartless and callous!
Ava wanted to go crazy, wanted to grab sothing to vent her anger, but she forcefully held it in.
Now wasn’t the ti to be stubborn; she couldn’t let things escalate.
He said she shouldn’t go, so she shouldn’t? Her legs were her own; she’d go by herself!
Ava checked the address Quentin had sent her last night, and then navigated it.
But when the navigation ca up, she was dumbfounded.
Over two hours...
From here to The Pearce Manor, it would take over two hours!
How could she make it in ti?
He said he would pick her up, was he nearby?
Thinking of this, Ava couldn’t care about much else and directly called Poe Vaughn.
Annoyed she was, but she distinguished clearly between what was important and what was not.
She would never delay matters because of anger or stubbornness.
However...
"Sorry, the number you have dialed is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later..."
Ava lowered the phone, her eyes widening.
He wouldn’t pick up...
Ava ground her teeth, then hung up and redialed!
She would call until he picked up!
In the car, Poe Vaughn’s phone kept ringing, incessantly.
Quentin sat in the front, watching the person in the rearview mirror who continued reading docunts, and quietly withdrew his gaze.
This call, President Vaughn would not answer.
Ava kept pressing hang up and redial on her phone, seeing who had more patience.
Then...
"Sorry, the number you have dialed is now turned off, please try again later..."
Turned off...
The phone was turned off...
She couldn’t even redial anymore!
Fine, well played Poe Vaughn.
Ava clenched the phone, smiling angrily.
Outside the RV, Jace Kingsley returned from a call, not seeing Ava, but instead noticing Lauren Howell pacing outside the RV, looking anxious.
His expression shifted slightly, he took quick steps over, "What’s happening?"
As soon as he spoke, Lauren Howell, as if finding a savior, quickly said, "Young Master Kingsley, I don’t know what happened, Jean suddenly ran into the RV..."
The words ’make a call’ were still in her mouth, not yet spoken, when the RV door suddenly opened with a clatter, and Ava jumped out from inside.
Jace imdiately went over, holding her.
Ava was barefoot on the sand, upon seeing Jace, she said imdiately, "Lend the car!"
Her face was flushed red, not from shyness but from anger, her eyes filled with rage, as if she would start a fight any mont.
Jace frowned tightly, holding her hand firmly, "What’s happening?"
"Nothing, just lend the car, I’ll return it tonight."
Ava was currently consud with the idea of finding that person, not caring about anything else.
Jace, noticing her expression, said, "Where are you going, I’ll go with you."
Ava imdiately refused, "No need!"
"I can go alone!"
At this mont, Ava noticed Jace’s concerned expression.
Ava cald down her emotions, reassuring Jace, "Really it’s nothing, just a small matter I need to handle, I’ll be back once it’s settled."
But Jace didn’t believe her.
The Maldives trip was arranged by him, she hadn’t planned to be here earlier, and now she suddenly wanted to leave, sothing was definitely up.
Moreover, it wasn’t a small matter.
He couldn’t just let her leave like this.
"You handle it, I’ll drive you there, it won’t interfere."
He held her hand tight, not letting go.
Ava now had a headache.
Though angry, she hadn’t forgotten the agreent she signed with that person.
So Jace couldn’t go, and neither could Lauren Howell, only she could go.
Ava no longer had an ounce of her anger left, only a smile spreading on her face, looking particularly relaxed, "Don’t worry, I’m really fine, just give the car keys, I’ll head back to the hotel once everything’s resolved."
"..."
Jace didn’t say anything, just looked at her silently, brows tightly furrowed, his entire face showing concern.
Ava at this point was scratching her head in frustration.
What could she do?
She looked around, hoping to hail a cab, but this wasn’t back ho, it’s not like she could just flag one down, especially since they were here on a remote beach for filming.
"Go ahead."
Suddenly, the car keys were extended to her.
Ava was stunned.
Jace softly whispered, "If anything happens, call , okay?"
Ava was delighted, "Okay!"
Taking the car keys at once, Ava waved joyfully to him, and quickly ran off.
Soon, the car started, and in the blink of an eye was out of sight.
Jace stood there, brows furrowed deeply, his expression changing.
He picked up the phone, opened the contact list, looking at the direction the car disappeared, and was about to dial a number.
At this mont, Lauren Howell’s voice fell into his ear.
"Could it be a collaboration between MK and Celestial Holdings?"
