The bed sheet, quilt cover, pillowcase, all in bright red, adorned with embroidered dragons and phoenixes.

Ava Sterling, though never married, loved watching television, and had seen such scenes countless tis.

Instinctively, she looked around and noticed the walls, windows, and even the objects in the room were all decorated with the double happiness symbol, especially a large one positioned prominently above the headboard...

Ava couldn’t help but twitch the corner of her mouth.

The old lady was... arranging their wedding night...

Poe Vaughn watched the change in Ava’s expression, not as feigned as before. He placed his phone on the bedside table and went to the bathroom.

Soon, the sound of running water was heard, and Ava’s eyes widened instantly.

Her whole body stiffened.

He... he couldn’t seriously be planning to nap, could he?

Ava had high standards and was very picky; ordinary n never caught her eye, and she scorned them with disdain.

But!

Once a man caught her eye, she couldn’t handle it.

All her composure, rationality, and calmness went out the window.

Hearing the sound of water inside, Ava’s heart started to race and her cheeks flushed involuntarily.

Forgive her, she couldn’t resist a quality man.

So!

She should run!

Ava swiftly exited the bedroom, fleeing from that scary place.

She feared that she couldn’t control herself not to pounce on him, risking her hard-earned fortune!

Ava rushed all the way downstairs, intending to go outside to breathe fresh air and calm down.

Just then, a crisp and loud voice reached her ears, "Granddaughter-in-law! Granddaughter-in-law!"

Ava’s eyes widened instantly, staring at the parrot bouncing in its cage.

Granddaughter-in-law?

Was it calling her?

Who taught it this?

The parrot flapped its wings more energetically when it saw her looking over: "Granddaughter-in-law, granddaughter-in-law!"

Hey!

It was calling her even more eagerly!

Ava’s fanciful thoughts vanished, and she walked towards the parrot, hands behind her back, and leaned close: "Are you calling ?"

"Third Young Master!"

"Third Young Master!"

"Granddaughter-in-law!"

"Granddaughter-in-law!"

The parrot hopped around inside, seeming quite proud, energetically both bouncing and calling.

Ava noticed a problem.

Third Young Master.

The housekeeper called him Third Young Master, and the parrot also called him Third Young Master.

Why do they call him Third Young Master?

She grew curious.

Since there was nothing else to do, she started chatting with the parrot: "Why do you call him Third Young Master?"

"His mother only had him, didn’t she?"

Poe Vaughn’s mother divorced his father while pregnant, returned to the Vaughn Family, gave birth to him and never embarked on another relationship.

She passed away in a car accident when Poe was three years old.

So, where does the ’third’ co from?

The parrot tilted its head, not understanding these words.

Ava saw its cute expression and started teasing it: "He’s one, not three, you should call him First Young Master, not Third Young Master."

The parrot looked even more confused, its eyes full of doubt, making Ava chuckle: "Co on, say First Young Master to ."

The parrot scratched its head.

First Young Master.

What kind of title is that?

"Madam, you shouldn’t teach it like this; who knows, next ti it might really call him that."

A voice laced with laughter chid in.

Ava paused, then stood upright, turned around, and with a polite and courteous smile faced the housekeeper, "Housekeeper."

No mistake, the person who had just spoken was the housekeeper.

The housekeeper, having assisted Sharon Sheridan in her nap, went to pick the best flowers in the backyard to make floral pastries for Ava.

Unexpectedly, she walked in to find Ava teaching the parrot to talk.

Particularly such nonsensical words.

Ava knew the housekeeper’s significance in the Vaughn Family and respected her even more than the other housekeepers.

So, she maintained her good daughter-in-law image in front of the housekeeper.

Just as she finished addressing the housekeeper, Ava recalled her earlier words and exclaid, "Huh? Is Little Eight really that smart?"

"Haha, yes indeed."

"Little Eight is truly clever."

"Sotis we have to watch what we say around it."

Ava blinked: "Is it really that impressive..."

The housekeeper saw more of Ava’s lively spirit in her eyes compared to the morning encounter.

It was as if the fake exterior had fallen away, revealing her true self.

"This ti, when the sun is at its peak, people tend to get drowsy. Madam, you often work hard, why not take today to rest well."

The implication was for Ava to go take a nap.

The sound of rushing water resurfaced in Ava’s mind; she quickly said, "Haha, I’m not sleepy, I’m young, my energy is great!"

Saying this, she looked at the bamboo basket in the housekeeper’s hand, filled with vibrant, beautiful flowers.

Ava imdiately walked over and pointed at the flowers: "Housekeeper, what are you going to do with these?"

"Oh, I’m planning to make floral pastries for you to eat."

"Floral pastries?"

"With these flowers?"

Ava’s eyes sparkled, brighter than before.

"Haha, yes."

"Then I’ll help you make them!"

"Madam, do you know how to make them?"

"I don’t, but I want to learn from you!"

"Haha, you can, but it’s quite complicated."

"No problem, I love healthy living; this must be very healthy!"

"Haha, it certainly is."

Ava completely forgot her good daughter-in-law image, following the housekeeper into the kitchen, just like it was her own ho, chatting freely and helping out.

Her true character was fully revealed, without any pretense.

Poe Vaughn ca out from the bathroom, finding the bedroom empty.

He wasn’t surprised, took his phone, glanced at his watch, and headed to the study.

The afternoon went by quickly as Ava and the housekeeper made floral pastries.

Once the pastries were done, Sharon Sheridan awoke.

Ava and the housekeeper presented the completed floral pastries for Sharon Sheridan to taste, and she was quite surprised to learn that Ava had contributed significantly to them.

After her surprise, joy filled her, and she couldn’t stop smiling.

This granddaughter-in-law of hers was wonderful, filial, genuine, unpretentious, with such an admirable personality!

The reporters’ articles were complete slander! Barefaced defamation!

Next ti they dare write such lies, she absolutely wouldn’t let them off the hook!

"Where’s Little Poe? Bring him to taste too."

Sharon Sheridan thought of Poe Vaughn while eating the freshly baked floral pastries.

By now, Ava had completely abandoned her fantasies and hearing Sharon Sheridan’s words, she promptly said, "I’ll go check upstairs."

It was already late, past three o’clock; surely, he wouldn’t still be sleeping.

She guessed he must be in the study.

This man, outside of work, it was all about work; she didn’t need much thought to figure out what he was doing.

Speaking, Ava picked up a plate of floral pastries and headed upstairs.

She knew where the study was.

Sharon Sheridan watched the girl carrying the floral pastries quickly ascend the stairs, her smile deepening, the folds on her face layering one over another.

The housekeeper smiled too.

"Madam, the young lady’s character is really good, what’s said online isn’t true."

Sharon Sheridan grunted, her smile fading, replaced with sternness: "I won’t speak of the past; but from now on, if I hear anyone defaming this granddaughter-in-law of mine, they better not expect leniency from ."

The housekeeper saw Sharon Sheridan’s stern face, her old eyes full of fierce light.

She knew the old lady was angry.

"Previously, the young lady had no solid backing; now she has the Vaughn Family, naturally she won’t be bullied anymore."

Ava didn’t hear the conversation between Sharon Sheridan and the housekeeper, nor did she know she had unknowingly gained a formidable support.

She briskly ascended the stairs, first checking the bedroom; finding it empty, she went directly outside the study and knocked on the door.
