"People are always greedy. Before Poe liked Ava, he worked every day, flying all over the world, focused solely on his career. No one cared for him, no one took care of him, no one kept him company, and it made feel quite sad. Back then, I thought, if only there was a considerate girl by Poe’s side, it would be wonderful."
"I never thought about him getting married or having children, just as long as there was soone who truly liked him and cared for him, I would be at ease."
"But as I got older, when people get older, they start to want Poe to get married, to have a soulmate who understands him, to accompany him until old age. Whether or not they have children doesn’t matter, as long as there’s a good girl by his side, that would be enough."
"For this reason, I’ve been continuously praying in my heart, asking heaven to give him a good girl, so that I can die with no regrets."
"But then, when Poe actually got married and t a girl he liked, and that girl was truly wonderful, I began to hope they would have children. I hoped that when Poe grew old, he would have children and grandchildren around him, not be just two people alone, so he could also enjoy the happiness of family."
Sharon Sheridan said with a helpless shake of her head, a smile appearing on her face, full of emotion: "People truly are greedy."
Mrs. You knew Sharon Sheridan’s thoughts very well and understood profoundly.
"Everyone has greed; we are all ordinary people. It’s very normal for you to think this way."
Sharon’s smile deepened. Having lived to this age, she had long understood many things. But people are like this, each stage of life brings its own hurdles. It seems that once you pass a stage, everything becos complete, but that’s not the case.
As long as you’re alive, there will be countless hurdles waiting for you, waiting to be crossed one by one, until the mont the coffin lid closes.
However, she was born optimistic. Even though she has worries and unease in her heart, she doesn’t allow herself to dwell on them for long.
Sharon Sheridan looked up, gazing at the bright sky ahead, her smile unfolding, the disappointnt and lant disappearing, leaving behind peace and assurance: "It’s nothing, I’ll just wait."
"Take it slow, everything will co true, just like how all my previous wishes have co true. I’m not in a hurry."
At that mont, her old eyes were full of life.
Although she was old now, she believed she could live for several more decades without any problem.
She wanted to see Poe’s child born, watch the child grow up, and if possible, see the child get married.
Mrs. You knew Sharon Sheridan very well. Upon hearing her words and seeing her confidence and calmness, she smiled and said, "Yes, no rush."
"As long as Third Young Master said there would be a child, then there certainly will be."
anwhile, in lbourne.
After hanging up the phone, Quentin Quinn returned to the eting room and whispered in Poe Vaughn’s ear to report on Ava Sterling’s health condition.
Poe Vaughn listened for a long ti, and then let out a low "hmm" from his throat.
Quentin noticed Poe Vaughn’s expression. He wasn’t sure if it was because he was close, or because he had just ntioned his wife, but now he could clearly see that their President Vaughn’s expression was different from before, and even more different from how he usually looked.
It seed as if he was thinking about sothing.
Much like a normal man would have normal emotions, he was no longer just about work, he was also starting to have feelings outside of work, gaining warmth.
Quentin felt that their President Vaughn being like this now was very good.
He had gained a human touch, no longer making people feel as intimidated as before, where his presence alone was a deterrent.
He felt at ease, sitting back in his chair, listening to the executives’ continued reports.
As expected, they should be able to return to the country by tomorrow.
Even though President Vaughn was thinking about his wife, it didn’t affect his work at all.
He remained efficient, solving issues quickly.
Poe Vaughn sat there, his eyes focused on the data projected on the screen, the depths of his eyes revealing an unseen, moving ink-like color.
...
Originally, Sharon Sheridan intended to go directly to Celeste to see Ava Sterling, but considering the ti, she recalled that Ava ntioned her work. She was currently teaching models, giving them lessons every day.
Ava had inford her of her class schedule, so after checking the ti, she redirected the driver to The Kestrel Apartnts instead.
She knew that Ava valued her work greatly, being soone who was very dedicated and attentive to her career.
Visiting Celeste now would only interrupt her.
And coincidentally, she hadn’t visited Ava Sterling’s apartnt before, which provided a perfect opportunity for her to check it out.
Mrs. Wei had always been at The Kestrel Apartnts, preparing lunch for Ava Sterling after tidying up the ho.
Mrs. Wei was not a doctor, but her family had been chefs for generations, with her ancestors having served as imperial chefs. She knew very well which ingredients were beneficial to the body and how to prepare them.
So she intended to prepare a nutritious lunch for Ava Sterling to help maintain her health.
When Mrs. You called Mrs. Wei, she was already simring a pot of broth that would aid in sleep and nourish the body. As the phone rang, she placed the lid on the pot, wiped her hands with a towel, and then picked up the phone.
Upon seeing that the caller was Mrs. You, she imdiately answered the call: "Hello."
"Are you at The Kestrel Apartnts? The Madam and I are outside the gate of The Kestrel Apartnts now."
Mrs. Wei was montarily stunned, looking outside at the sky: "The Madam is at The Kestrel Apartnts?"
"Yes, if you’re there, co down to bring us in."
"I am! I’m here; I’m preparing lunch for the Madam. I’ll co down right now."
"Alright."
After ending the call, Mrs. You and Sharon Sheridan waited outside the gate of The Kestrel Apartnts.
This was Sharon Sheridan’s first visit to The Kestrel Apartnts. As she stood outside, looking at the buildings and the greenery, she nodded with a smile: "Not bad."
Putting her phone away and standing beside her, Mrs. You smiled: "The Kestrel Apartnts are one of the top complexes in Aurelia."
"The Young Madam purchasing an apartnt here is quite impressive."
They all knew about Ava Sterling’s family situation. She had always relied on herself, without leaning on her family even a little.
Everything she had now was entirely earned by her own hard work.
It wasn’t easy for her.
Sharon Sheridan felt a pang of heartache but also a sense of admiration.
High society places value on family background, as does she, but she values a person’s character and conduct more.
Without these qualities, even the best family background is useless to her.
Ava Sterling did not have an advantageous family background. She ca from a family that couldn’t be more ordinary. To them, the noble families, she was like an ant, from a very lowly status.
Nevertheless, she never gave up on herself due to her family or her parents. She wasn’t self-deprecating; she strived for improvent, held onto her principles and perseverance, knew what she wanted, and understood that to possess sothing, she needed to work for it. She also knew what could and couldn’t be done, never took shortcuts, never placed her hopes on others, and relied on herself, taking one step at a ti to reach where she was now.
To Sharon Sheridan, soone like Ava Sterling was exceptionally outstanding. She surpassed those arrogant, conceited, self-assured, and hypocritical young ladies from privileged families.
For soone to marry into The Vaughn Family, character cos first, then family background.
She didn’t care how much wealth or prestige the other party had, how great their background was. What she cared about was that the other party was hardworking and earnest, understood priorities, didn’t reach for things beyond their grasp, acknowledged what it ant to be family.
She wanted soone like that.
Ava Sterling t her criteria perfectly.
After ending the call, Mrs. Wei quickly took the key and headed out.
She quickly exited the apartnt building and jogged to the gate.
From afar, she saw Sharon Sheridan and Mrs. You waiting outside and hurried over, bowing: "Madam."
Sharon Sheridan glanced at her: "Let’s go."
"Yes."
Mrs. Wei led Sharon Sheridan and Mrs. You inside, the security guard watching with great surprise.
Who was this elderly lady? He had the feeling of an empress dowager arriving...
