Ava Sterling stopped walking and looked over.
It was a taxi, and Mrs. Wei got out of it.
As soon as Ava saw Mrs. Wei, she froze.
The scenes from last night in the living room flooded back like tidal waves, and Ava’s face imdiately turned red.
Mrs. Wei... Does Mrs. Wei know?
Ava was montarily paralyzed, like a block of wood, stiff and unmoving.
Mrs. Wei got out of the car, carrying a cloth bag, and walked inside.
But before she ca in, she saw Ava standing on the steps inside, looking at her.
Mrs. Wei was surprised, then she quickly opened the wrought iron door and hurried in.
"Has ma’am woken up?"
Mrs. Wei’s face was smiling, as warm as usual.
Ava tried to calm herself, forcing herself out of the scenes from last night. She looked at the person in front of her, at Mrs. Wei’s smiling face.
She couldn’t tell if it was her imagination, or if she’s just too sensitive or overthinking, but she felt Mrs. Wei’s smile seed particularly different.
As if she knew about last night’s events.
But she probably doesn’t know.
Poe Vaughn wouldn’t lie to her, and at this ti, Mrs. Wei should be at ho, but she wasn’t. It seed like she had just returned.
Ava’s wildly beating heart slightly cald down, and the redness on her face stopped rising. She said, "Mrs. Wei..."
"Ma’am, are you feeling unwell? Why is your face so red?"
"Do you have a fever?"
Ava just spoke, but Mrs. Wei interrupted her, looking at her face, full of concern.
As Mrs. Wei spoke, she raised her hand to feel Ava’s forehead, and it was indeed burning hot.
Mrs. Wei was startled and imdiately said, "Ma’am, you have a fever! You need to go to the hospital quickly!"
As she said this, Mrs. Wei began to look around, implying that she intended to have the driver take Ava to the hospital as the household had a driver.
The driver was responsible for daily trips for shopping, and occasionally, when Poe Vaughn was at ho, would drive to places that required a driver.
But today, after driving Poe Vaughn to the company, the driver hadn’t returned, and likely had errands assigned to him.
Not seeing the driver, Mrs. Wei quickly pulled out her phone to make a call, of course, she was dialing Poe Vaughn.
Calling Poe Vaughn was faster than calling 911.
Ava was stunned by Mrs. Wei’s words. A fever, she had a fever?
Ava touched her face, it was hot, but she was sure she didn’t have a fever, because she wasn’t feeling unwell, except for so subtle discomfort in a part of her body, everything else was fine.
So she was very healthy, and the redness and burning on her face were all because she just recalled last night’s events.
Also, she was shy about Mrs. Wei knowing.
Seeing Mrs. Wei taking out her phone to make the call, Ava reacted and quickly said, "I’m not having a fever, I was just sunburnt!"
Yes, with the sun so strong, isn’t it normal to be burnt up?
This reason was perfectly justified, Ava felt incredibly confident, and wore a solemn expression.
Mrs. Wei heard her words and was confused, "Huh? Not a fever?"
Ava nodded solemnly, showing no sign of anything unusual, except for her face, which was entirely different from usual, red like a ripe tomato.
"I’m not having a fever, if I were, I’d get dicine myself. I was just out here on the phone standing for a while, and got sunburnt."
Mrs. Wei furrowed her brows, a bit skeptical, "But..."
"It’s fine, really fine, I’m always in good health, no need to worry."
Ava didn’t want Mrs. Wei to linger on this issue any further, she directly interrupted her, took Mrs. Wei’s arm, and quickly went inside, "Co on, let’s go inside, it’s too sunny out here, if I stay here longer I’ll turn into dried fish."
"But..."
Mrs. Wei still wanted to speak, but then, a low voice ca from the phone, "Mrs. Wei."
Ava stopped in her tracks for a mont, Mrs. Wei was also surprised.
Then, the next second, both looked at the phone Mrs. Wei was holding.
On it displayed that the call was in progress, and the caller ID read: Master.
Ava: "..."
Mrs. Wei’s speed really was lightning fast.
Mrs. Wei was only stunned for a mont before quickly reacting, she picked up the phone imdiately, "Master."
From the phone, Poe Vaughn’s voice ca again, "Give the phone to ma’am."
"Oh, oh, alright!"
Mrs. Wei quickly handed the phone to Ava, "Ma’am, a call from Master."
Ava felt slightly uneasy, after all, last night was quite intense...
But, the uneasiness vanished in a mont, Ava took the phone and directly said, "What’s up?"
The voice seed impatient, Poe Vaughn was listening to her tone, sensing if she was unwell.
"Are you feeling unwell?"
After a few breaths, he spoke.
Ava raised an eyebrow, was he showing concern for her?
Uh, is it really that nice?
It felt a bit unreal, especially considering how relentless he was with her last night without a hint of rcy.
Recalling last night, Ava snorted twice and said, "No, why?"
"Even if I’m unwell, what will you do? Co back?"
She was just saying it casually, not seriously.
Since he was so troubleso last night, making her feel like she was dying several tis.
This man, really was too ruthless.
The phone went silent.
Ava knew he wouldn’t agree, feeling satisfied, she said, "Then..."
"Hmm."
The low monotone echoed, Ava froze.
What did he say, hmm?
No way?
He really intended to co back?
Ava couldn’t quite believe it, stunned at that mont.
And just then, a beeping busy signal sounded, Ava was completely stupefied.
He... he actually wants to co back?
