Ava Sterling has never been the kind to have reservations. If she thinks of sothing, she asks, especially with those she is already familiar with.
To her, she is very familiar with Poe Vaughn, so familiar that she isn’t afraid of him at all, and she doesn’t put on any facade in front of him.
She is just herself.
So she asks whenever she thinks of sothing, without hesitation.
She leaned in, the fresh scent of her hair instantly wafting towards him, strands so smooth they even fell onto his hand, fine and silky...
Ava didn’t put her long hair up today; she used the hairpin Poe Vaughn gave her to pin up a third of her hair, letting the rest cascade down her back, looking particularly gentle.
She really liked the hairpin that Poe gave her. Usually, she would casually tie her hair in a bun, but with this hairpin, she could pin up her hair, looking elegant and convenient.
At this mont, she leaned in close, her upper body almost diagonal, very close to him; one could say that if it weren’t for the armrest between them, she would have been entirely leaning on him.
Ava didn’t think anything of her action; she just naturally got closer to him, looking at his god-like face with endless curiosity.
Yes, why was she asked to tend to those plants?
She could understand him asking her to play chess with him as his desire to achieve the sense of accomplishnt from teaching soone, fulfilling a ntal need.
But watering plants?
This reasoning was hard for her to understand. Could it be that he had so much money he needed to find ways to spend it?
A natural light fragrance wafted around, even enveloping Poe Vaughn, infusing layer upon layer into his skin, rging into his veins and becoming untad within him.
The fingertip that was previously tapping on the phone paused, and he turned his gaze to look at the person whose body tilted up to look at him.
Her almond-shaped eyes were extrely bright—not seductive, not gaudy, no curves or subtleties. She was very direct, very clear, and very straightforward.
Poe Vaughn’s fingertips moved slightly, and the smooth strands of hair fell into his palm, silently tickling his hand.
He said, "You’re very idle."
Ava: "..."
Ava’s face darkened.
She shot him a glare and then sat up straight, no longer looking at him.
She didn’t think she was idle; rather, he had too much money and was desperate to spend it.
Otherwise, earning money every day without spending it would be so boring, wouldn’t it?
She didn’t want to talk to him anymore, feeling that talking with him could drive her mad and spoil her good mood.
So, to maintain her good mood, she thought silence was golden.
However, just as Ava sat back, the car suddenly made a sharp turn, and without noticing, she fell towards Poe Vaughn.
Completely out of control.
Ava instinctively grabbed Poe Vaughn, and at the sa mont she grabbed him, he spread his arms to protect her.
However, with the armrest between them, Ava couldn’t lean on Poe Vaughn, and instead leaned against the armrest.
This in itself was nothing, and usually wouldn’t be a big deal, even hardly noticeable.
But Ava was currently in a fragile state, with two broken ribs. The sudden action made her almost hit the armrest, and she instantly felt pain.
Ava imdiately frowned.
Poe Vaughn looked ahead; it was just at a turning point, where an oncoming car was approaching swiftly, occupying their lane. The driver instinctively turned the wheel, turning it a bit too quickly.
But it was precisely because of this that the two cars didn’t collide.
Yet, this incident caused Ava so trouble.
Poe Vaughn felt the imdiate tension in the person in his embrace, eyed the car that sped past them with narrowed eyes, a flash of sternness quickly fading.
He withdrew his gaze and looked at the person in his lap.
