The caretaker didn’t leave, just answered the phone in the ward.
"Hello."
"Okay, I’ll co right now."
After hanging up, the caretaker said to Ava Sterling, "Miss Sterling, I’m going down to get lunch."
Ava Sterling was still lost in thought and didn’t pay attention to the caretaker’s words, simply waved her hand.
The caretaker bowed and left, the door closing behind her.
It was only after the caretaker left that Ava Sterling realized what she had just said, sothing about getting lunch?
Lauren had co back?
The caretaker soon returned, carrying two bags that were exactly the sa as the one Quentin brought last night.
In an instant, Ava understood.
It was sent by that person.
But how did that person have the caretaker’s phone number?
A thought quickly crossed her mind, and Ava realized sothing. She squinted at the caretaker, "Who sent you here?"
The caretaker lifted the small table, placing the lunch from the bag onto it, and replied to Ava Sterling’s question, "Assistant Quinn sent here."
Ah...
A line of thought quickly ford in Ava’s mind, instantly connecting so things together. Because Poe Vaughn had brought her here, she knew everything about the situation here.
In short, he was now her family mber, and when she asked Vincent Donovan for help arranging a caretaker, Vincent naturally gave this family mber a call.
Naturally, he had Quentin arrange it.
Which was why after he left last night, the caretaker arrived soon after.
Ava Sterling’s eyes moved slightly and she said, "Don’t tell Lauren about this lunch, just say I asked you to order it."
"Yes."
Justin Quinn indeed arranged things well, clearly soone with good vision and understanding, and she was very satisfied.
Ava Sterling sent Lauren a ssage, telling her that she was starving and just ordered sothing to eat, instructing her to grab a al outside, buy the chess manuals, and co back later.
Lauren didn’t find the ssage strange. She randomly grabbed sothing to eat and then went to the library to find the chess manuals Ava wanted.
Ava ate lunch at ease, then ca up with an idea and started searching on her phone for various knowledge about Go, but soon began yawning.
So sleepy...
Looking at such tedious knowledge made her incredibly drowsy.
The caretaker said, "Miss Sterling, why don’t you rest for a while?"
Ava Sterling nodded, "Okay."
Might as well take a nap, otherwise, she feared she wouldn’t have the energy for a showdown with him tonight.
Ava Sterling placed her phone aside. The caretaker put it on the bedside table and then covered her with a blanket.
Ava closed her eyes, and sleepiness quickly enveloped her.
The caretaker watched as she drifted off and sat quietly beside her, keeping watch.
However, it wasn’t long before steady footsteps were heard from outside.
Drawing closer and closer.
The caretaker heard them and looked towards the closed door.
The footsteps stopped outside the door, followed by a gentle knock.
"Knock, knock."
The sound wasn’t loud, very gentle. Ava heard it, but since she was deep in slumber, she didn’t want to think about it, just frowned slightly and continued sleeping.
The caretaker noticed Ava’s slightly furrowed brows, stood up, and quietly opened the door.
Jace Kingsley stood outside. As the door opened, he imdiately saw the person inside.
Ava Sterling was leaning back on the bed, sleeping. Her long lashes fell on her eyelids like resting butterfly wings, very peaceful.
The caretaker had never seen Jace Kingsley, but seeing his deanor, he must have co to see Ava Sterling. Worried about disturbing her, she stepped outside, closing the door behind her, "Are you Miss Sterling’s friend?"
With the door closed, her fair face was out of sight. Jace’s gaze shifted slightly, and he retracted his gaze, looking at the caretaker, "Yes, I’m her friend."
"Miss Sterling is asleep, you..."
"I’ll watch over her, you can go rest."
