The chanized voice of the Mauler bood across the battlefield, deep and cold, like the final verdict of a rciless executioner. Its towering fra, bristling with weaponry, lood over the trembling militia.

These weren't hardened soldiers; they were just ordinary office workers, forcibly conscripted into Nexum Dynamics ranks. And now, staring down the barrel of an enraged Mauler Juggernaut, their knees buckled with terror.

The Mauler, of course, didn't care. Fear ant nothing to it. From its hulking shoulders, twin missile pods unfolded with a series of tallic clicks, locking into position.

Then, without hesitation, it unleashed a storm of rockets. The battlefield erupted into chaos as missiles rained down on both the Nexum cha units and the hapless militia.

"This bastard! Dodge! Now! Engage it from all sides!" Harlix shouted, his usually calm tone cracking with urgency as he maneuvered his own ch away from the incoming barrage.

"Understood, sir!" The remaining cha pilots shouted back, scattering in different directions to evade the relentless onslaught.

The militia, however, wasn't as fortunate, or so it seed. Amidst the chaos, one figure moved with startling agility. Gustav, a lion-like humanoid with muscles that bulged like steel cables, darted through the carnage, dodging missile impacts with animalistic grace.

When he saw a missile heading straight for him, he let out a deafening roar, grabbed a nearby militia soldier with one massive handlike claw, and hurled them straight at the missile. The projectile detonated mid-air, the explosion lighting up Gustav's wild grin.

"Did you see that, sis!?" Nyra's voice rang out, cutting through the chaos as she grabbed Lyra by the shoulders and shook her violently.

Her eyes sparkled with excitent, like twin golden stars burning with ambition. "I NEED one of those missile-launching things! I swear, my dream of becoming the Queen of Destruction is finally within reach!"

"Nyra! Stop shaking !" Lyra yelled, struggling to regain her balance. "We need to get out of here, or we're going to get stepped on by our own damn Mauler!" She pointed frantically toward the raging battle between the juggernaut and the Nexum cha units, but Nyra was too busy gawking at the carnage to let go.

Unbeknownst to them, a pair of predatory, yellowish eyes glead from the shadows, watching the sisters with a terrifying patience. The figure crept closer, step by step, unnoticed amidst the din of battle.

anwhile, the Mauler Juggernaut continued its rampage, unstoppable in its overload state.

"Surround it!" Harlix shouted, his voice cracking through the communications. "Don't let it break free! Squad one, attack from range! Squad two, aim for the joints!"

The Nexum cha units attempted to close in, their tentacle-like appendages writhing as they tried to ensnare the behemoth. But fighting a Mauler in Overload mode was akin to wrestling a rabid bull during mating season. It was suicide, plain and simple.

The Mauler's voice thundered across the battlefield, and its plasma cannons, mounted on its forearms, finally reached full charge.

Instead of the usual massive plasma blasts, the Mauler unleashed a barrage of smaller, rapid-fire plasma bolts, turning the battlefield into a deadly storm of golden fire. Each plasma bolt zipped through the air, striking cha units and militia soldiers alike.

"Sir! Help—!" One of the Nexum cha pilots didn't finish his plea. The Mauler smashed its massive cannon into the ch, slamming it into the ground with the force of a falling star. The pilot's communications went silent as the Mauler raised its foot and stomped down, flattening the wreckage.

With chanical precision, the Mauler's foot ca down again, grinding the remains of the cha suit into the dirt. Sparks and shredded tal flew everywhere. The Juggernaut had no sense of rcy, no hesitation, only relentless efficiency.

This brutal overkill wasn't entirely unintentional. It was the result of what Cleo had dubbed the "Rex Virus." Despite her efforts to patch the Juggernauts' programming, Rex kept sneaking into her code and "improving" it with his own bizarre, sadistic tweaks.

The Maulers weren't just ruthless; they were petty, vindictive machines. And Rex loved every second of it.

"Would you stop ssing with my work!?" Cleo had yelled at him more than once. But, true to form, Rex had only grinned and said, "I'm not ssing. I'm making it perfect."

The battlefield shook as the Mauler turned its attention to another cha unit, its plasma bolts shredding through the air. Harlix cursed under his breath, realizing the situation was spiraling out of control.

"Dammit," he muttered, gripping the controls of his own machine.

And sowhere in the dust and chaos, the yellow eyes drew closer to Nyra and Lyra, the hunter preparing to strike.

"You saw that, sis!? That was really cool! But don't get the wrong idea," Nyra said, finally letting go of Lyra's arm and walking ahead, her eyes still glued to the battlefield.

"Rex is still way cooler than that!" She stretched her arms wide, as if trying to take in all the carnage, her face lit up with the sa giddy excitent as a kid at a fireworks show.

Lyra, however, wasn't amused. She dusted herself off and was just about to retort when a deafening lion's roar shattered the mont.

"Wh—?" Lyra turned toward the sound, but before she could even react, a massive shape lunged out of nowhere and tackled her to the ground. The impact sent her tumbling across the dirt like a ragdoll before she crashed into the remains of a destroyed hover tank.

"W-what!? Sister!" Nyra's voice cracked with anger, her playful grin instantly replaced by a fiery scowl. "How dare you do that to my sister!"

With a sudden burst of speed, Nyra bolted toward the attacker. Her fist was already cocked back, glowing faintly with a crimson aura. The sheer force behind it was no joke since she'd shattered reinforced steel windows with that punch before.

But as her fist ca down, it stopped.

Like it had hit a wall of air.

"W-what!?" Nyra gasped, her crimson eyes wide with shock. She stared down at the massive paw that had effortlessly caught her punch. This was the first ti anyone, aside from Rex and his girls that had stopped her attack. And this... this didn't make sense.

"Haha, what's wrong? Lost your nerve already?" The voice was deep, guttural, and carried a mocking edge. The lion-man, Gustav, grinned wickedly, his glowing yellow eyes locked onto Nyra's. "Weren't you just so full of yourself an hour ago?"

Nyra's breath hitched as recognition dawned on her. "You're that cub..." Her voice trailed off, disbelief flooding her tone. The mory flashed through her mind since just an hour ago, she had spared a young lion-like creature, dismissing it as weak and unworthy of her attention.

Now, standing before her, was no cub. Gustav's fra was twice the size it had been before, his muscles rippling with unnatural power.

"Yeah, I rember you too," Gustav sneered. Then, with a deafening roar, he grabbed Nyra by the arm and swung her into the ground like a hamr slamming into an anvil. The ground cracked beneath the force of the impact, chunks of dirt and rock flying outward as Nyra let out a grunt of pain.

"You're gonna regret that!" Nyra shouted, summoning her crimson blade with a flash of red light. She swung it upward, aiming for Gustav's face, but the lion only laughed. He released her arm and, in a lightning-fast movent, grabbed her by the ankle instead.

"Nice try," Gustav growled. Then, with a roar, he spun her like a weightless doll and hurled her through the air. Nyra crashed into the crumbling debris of the collapsed wall, her impact sending another wave of dust and rubble into the sky.

"Is that all you've got!?" Gustav shouted, his voice dripping with disdain as he flexed his claws. "Where's that arrogant smirk from before, huh? Pathetic!" His laughter echoed across the battlefield, loud and guttural, as if he were drunk on his newfound power.

But then, he felt it.

Sothing sharp buried itself into his back.

"Damn flea bag!" Lyra's voice rang out, furious and raw.

Gustav whipped around just in ti to see Lyra standing defiantly, her twin pistols drawn and aid at him. Her hands were steady, her violet eyes burning with anger.

"Stay away from my sister!" she shouted, pulling the triggers.

The weapons Cleo had designed for her were no ordinary pistols. Their specialized, high-velocity piercing rounds weren't just for show, they could punch through armor strong enough to hold back Tier 3 low-class threats. The bullets tore through the air, leaving streaks of light in their wake as they struck Gustav.

The lion roared in pain, staggering back as sparks flew from his chest and shoulders where the rounds had landed. He growled, glaring at Lyra, but the damage was real. Blood seeped from his wounds, staining his golden fur as he gritted his teeth.

"Looks like the flea bag's not so tough after all," Lyra said, her voice trembling slightly but still holding its edge.

Gustav's eyes narrowed, and his claws twitched. "You'll pay for that," he snarled, his voice low and nacing.

But Lyra wasn't backing down. She readied her pistols again, her breathing steady. "You want so more? Co and get it, furball."

anwhile, Nyra began to pull herself out of the debris, shaking off the dust and rubble with an irritated growl. Her crimson blade glinted dangerously in the dim light.

"Sis," she muttered, her eyes glowing with fury as she locked onto Gustav. "Let handle this."

Gustav snarled, his grin returning despite his injuries. "Co on, then. Let's see if you can actually hit this ti, little monster."

The battlefield fell silent for a mont, the tension thick enough to cut with a knife.

And then, with a roar that shook the very ground, the fight began anew.
