"Do you know how dangerous the situation was back then? I was almost caught."

Still at the sa Feng Cui Green Family Restaurant.

Herlosh was devouring a bowl of seafood risotto, realizing he had fallen in love with this traditional dish from the Old Continent.

He was talking about that public trial day, after he sneaked into Oswaldo's study.

After he got his hands on the evidence from the safe, just as he was about to leave, he felt sothing was wrong in the study.

It was a hard-to-describe feeling, if he had to say, it stemd from the reaction to his true na.

It was an uncomfortable feeling in his observation.

So, after hiding the evidence he obtained, he returned to the study again.

Oswaldo might have hidden so other secrets in the study.

Sure enough, after a thorough search, he found an inconspicuous book on the shelf, which was a chanism. When he picked up the book, a secret chamber appeared.

At that mont, Herlosh realized what the strange feeling in the study was, it was the spatial inequality.

He had observed the whole building from outside, and compared to the external observation, a part was evidently missing inside the house.

The secret chamber contained a large collection of Oswaldo's private possessions: jewelry, money, and more crucial evidence.

It was a ledger docunting so financial dealings between Oswaldo and the high echelons of Steel City.

From the ledger, it was obvious that even though Oswaldo had left Steel City years ago, he still maintained close contact with them.

If the ledger were to be exposed, it would spell trouble not only for Oswaldo but also for many in Steel City.

But Herlosh didn't take it out, because he made another discovery at the ti.

In the secret chamber, there was also a hidden entrance leading underground.

Out of curiosity, Herlosh entered the underground through that entrance.

"It was a huge space. I don't know how big, it was very dark, where I descended seed to be a passage, I don't know where it leads..."

This is how Herlosh described it.

In the end, he didn't finish walking through that passage, because after a while of exploration, the servants of the Governor's mansion returned.

The observing eye he left outside to monitor had alerted him, and he had no choice but to return.

In his urgency, he didn't even have ti to photograph the ledger.

"There's definitely so huge secret hidden there," Herlosh said, licking his lips after finishing the last bite of seafood risotto.

"That's just perfect, the next ti you go to steal the ledger, take the opportunity to find out clearly,"

Ethan said, handing him his portion.

"? I'm not doing that," Herlosh shook his head vigorously, "Mr. Ethan, the task you gave was just to gather evidence, not to go on an adventure. I'm not going back in there a second ti."

The underground space was exceptionally cold, eerie, and filled with a vibe that made him extrely uncomfortable.

Even if the servants hadn't returned at that ti, he wouldn't have continued forward.

"Besides, why steal the ledger, can't I just photograph it?"

"For sothing like a ledger, the original is definitely what's valuable," Ethan stared at him, "After the job is done, I'll give you an extra two million."

"I..." Herlosh was about to say, "I'm not doing it," but two million...

His throat couldn't help but gulp.

"I can't do it alone."

"Besides, is there really still such an opportunity?"

"Manpower, I will look into that for you, and as for the opportunity..." Ethan glanced out the window.

Opportunities will co soon.

------

Several days had passed since the public trial day.

In those days, things hadn't been going well for the Kingdom Statistical Bureau and Joseph.

To say nothing of Ned having already filed a lawsuit against Joseph, several charges against him made going to court inevitable.

After all, everyone in Wenster saw him commit fraud.

The news of that day quickly spread back to the Royal Capital and reportedly sparked discussions in the parliant.

The Evans Clan's political rivals naturally took the opportunity to mount an offensive.

The order to remove him from his post seed to already be on its way.

Aside from these, protesters have persistently gathered at the doors of the Kingdom Statistical Bureau, protesting against Joseph's tyranny and using the opportunity to vent their rage at the Bureau's past arbitrary actions in Wenster.

It can be said that the authority that the Kingdom Statistical Bureau had established previously had been entirely wiped out.

In the director's office of the Kingdom Statistical Bureau, even the usually ticulously grood Joseph now appeared incredibly drained.

The most noticeable thing was that a button on his cuff was loose, and he seed not to have noticed.

"Director, there's news from the northern fortress; they're preparing to withdraw so people back,"

Captain Steve reported cautiously.

Joseph, who was watching the protesters outside through the blinds, couldn't help but laugh upon hearing this. He tugged on his tie and sat heavily on the sofa: "Those generals... When they sent people to , they weren't like this."

"As for the Royal Capital..." Steve asked cautiously again.

Joseph only shook his head.

Even if a part of the bla could be shifted onto that useless brother Frank, saying he acted unilaterally and incited the capital's reporters, causing the incident to escalate.

Ultimately, it was Joseph himself who ssed things up, and he was the one who bore the greatest responsibility.

His venerable father had even stopped answering his calls; it was his distinguished elder brother who made the call, delivering the final ultimatum.

"Once you finish handling things, co back imdiately, and don't do anything more to disgrace the family."

This was truly abandoning him.

Joseph couldn't help but laugh: "Steve, what do you think Ethan is thinking right now?"

This question stunned Steve for a mont.

Joseph, however, continued speaking to himself: "He must be waiting for to surrender, that dog of a..."

As he spoke those words, the phone in the office rang.

Joseph answered it himself.

"Joseph, it's ."

It was Ethan calling.

"Oh, Ethan, what's up? Haven't seen you for days, did you miss ?"

"Yeah, it's been days without hearing your jokes, I do miss you."

"If you're expecting to hear beg, forget it, I absolutely won't..."

"You've misunderstood , Joseph. I just rembered so interesting jokes today and wondered if you'd like to co and listen. Do you have any interest?"

Joseph was silent for three seconds before he laughed.

"Of course, I like jokes."

After hanging up the phone, Ethan swirled his wine glass and took a sip.

Before he t with Joseph, there was another guest who had already arrived.
