Jolene stared back at him for a mont. "Who was the previous Noxus Family Patriarch?"
"The Undying Saint. My father." Wolfe replied.
She imdiately hit her knees and bowed in submission.
"Forgive for doubting you, Saint Noxus. Your claims seed so farfetched. One mont I was at my mother’s house, the next I was spending an eternity here in this watery hell. The only thing that I could think to do was to co back to work and keep doing my job every day, but I can’t even tell you how long that has been.
Where are we? Is this the underworld? So watery demon realm?" She pleaded.
"It is the bottom of the ocean, precisely where your ho was located before, only moved downward by a thousand tres.
The humans killed seven hundred million people on the continent, and the survivors sunk the entire thing to keep the graves from being desecrated." Wolfe explained.
"So I’m dead?" She asked.
"Not entirely. I believe that you were affected by [Necrosis] and turned into the undead. Let test sothing."
Wolfe sent a trickle of mana into her body, and her skin beca porcelain smooth, and her eyes a deep glowing crimson, while cute little fangs dented the corners of her lips.
Jolene began patting her body in panic for a second as it adjusted, taking out the imperfections gained naturally with age. She wasn’t old by any ans before her death, perhaps not even thirty. But she looked like a teenager again, with unnaturally perfect features that sent imdiate warning alarms through the three Fae outside the barrier.
[Saint Noxus, be careful.] The Selkie warned him.
Wolfe waved in her direction. "Don’t worry, she works for the Family, she’s not going to harm ."
"Patriarch, what is that thing? Not the fish n, the one that slls like seafood and delicious?" Jolene asked.
"That is a Selkie. But no eating the guests. At least not in that way. I know it’s a bit hard to accept, but I believe that you are currently a Vampire. The species feeds off life force, which can naturally be substituted with mana, I believe.
When I gave you a bit of mana, your powers surged as if you had fed, and your senses began to return. Let place a mana gathering spell on you, and we will see if that solves the hunger issue." Wolfe suggested.
[Saint Noxus, why are you making the vampire more powerful? She can answer questions while helpless.]
Power trickled into Jolene, and she sighed in relief. "I hadn’t realized how hungry I was until now. Thank you, Patriarch. Now, where were we?
I cleaned the house just today, the yard is maintained, though I had to change all the plants to local ones. The spells have been refreshed, but I’m running low on paint to fix them. Other than that, the estate is in peak condition, sir."
"Excellent work, Jolene. Are there any family records kept within the estate? Any books or mory crystals? I have been tasked with finding knowledge on the Family, as well as the Noxus thod of attaining the King Rank, but there are no other ranking survivors or records left after the war on the surface." Wolfe asked.
The vampire shook her head. "No, Sir. This was only a vacation property, nobody left things behind when they returned ho. I do have so romance novels if you would like so light reading."
Wolfe chuckled and shook his head. "I won’t take your little pleasures from you. But I will leave you with that internal mana gathering spell. It should last you for so ti and eliminate the urge to feed.
I will also be placing a Mana Cleansing spell outside the house to cleanse the curse from the waters. You’re not feeling any ill effects from the one I have active, are you?"
As he recalled, the mindless Undead on the surface often rushed to the cleansing spell to obliterate themselves and end their eternal existence. It didn’t seem to have the sa effect on higher undead though, those whose species had evolved with the curses of the war.
Jolene shook her head. "It feels quite refreshing, like my dress was freshly laundered, not just repaired with the maintenance spells in the house. Every ti I go back to the village, I co back positively filthy."
There was nothing left in the village, it was nothing but ruins, and there were no signs of undead when Wolfe passed by.
"Why do you return?" He asked.
"I don’t know. I think it was part of the instinctive drive to maintain my routine. My thoughts weren’t clear for a long ti, there was just hunger and then nothing but the routine.
Now, I don’t think that I will go back again. I can stay in my quarters here, as the ones in Grandmother’s ho are long gone."
"I am glad that is all sorted, then. Once the area is cleared of miasma, I will see to it that soone is sent down more regularly with supplies, like the paint, to keep the house in good shape."
Jolene nodded. "I will make a list for my next visitor. Might I recomnd that you head in that direction next? I suppose that it is Southeast if we’re still in the sa location, but there is a Lich Lord who lives over there, and he makes the most wonderful cookies. I visit him on long weekends."
"That sounds like an excellent plan. Anyone who can talk to us and provide information, or keep the area intact, will be good to et. Thank you for your assistance."
It was a bit insane that after two hundred years they were still keeping to their schedule, and even living relatively normal lives as undead, with long weekends and work shifts. But if it kept them sane, Wolfe wouldn’t interfere.
A Lich Lord should have been a powerful Magic User in their past life, and Jolene had said it was a male, so a Magi and not a Witch. Hopefully, that would be a Noxus Family mber, who might have so stored records.
