Once Mini was safely off escorting her new roommate to their dorm, the Dorm Mother turned on Wolfe and King Petros.

"Alright, spill. What is going on in the Academy? Mini told of long-term bullying because she was a mouse, but it sounds like things got much more serious than that." She demanded.

Petros smirked at Wolfe. "You know, if you terrify them with your title, they’re usually kinder to you than this."

Wolf shook his head. "Witches are like that. But to answer the question, it turns out that a serial killer managed to sneak through the vetting process and co here as a student. When we questioned him about the bullying, he ended up giving away far more than he would have wished, thanks to Compulsion to tell the whole truth."

"You used Compulsion on a student?" The Dorm Mother asked.

"I used automatic weapons on teenagers in army uniforms, what makes you think I wouldn’t use Compulsion on a student accused of bullying? But for the record, it was King Petros that ran out of patience first and cast the spell. All that he demanded was that the boy tell the whole truth, and we started with questions about him bullying Mini.

That led to him admitting he had been doing it since they were children, and that he believed that prey species deserved it, that they were toys to play with. That led to him admitting to multiple murders because he was compelled to tell the whole truth when we asked him how many people he had bullied." Wolfe explained.

The Dorm Mother nodded. "I get the basics of it now. I am guessing that there is no body to dispose of? He should have had a roommate coming today."

Wolfe nodded. "I will have soone clean up his effects and escort the roommate to the dorm."

The Dorm Mother shook her head. "I will have him assigned to another room. There was an odd number of male students before, so there is an empty bed. Then we can bring in two more next sester to fill the spaces."

"Are there any other issues that we should deal with while we’re here? We’ve got countless new people showing up today, but these are the only ones that aren’t either working adults or here with family." Wolfe asked.

The Dorm Mother nodded. "While that is true, they do have supervision here, and I’ve already gotten plenty of extra staff for both dorms. I think that we will manage if you want to go check on the shopkeepers.

They have a lot more stuff coming in, and that is going to cause traffic jams while they unload.

A few of my friends moved out into the outer ring, and they’re not looking forward to the next few days while the roads are packed with moving vehicles, as two thirds of the properties have soone moving into them during the sa week."

Wolfe sighed. "Yeah, we didn’t think that one through well enough. So of them ca early, to get set up before the festival, but most of them are showing up soti this week, and we didn’t make any sort of schedule for them.

It’s not like we could really limit how much the crafters are bringing, as they’re bringing both tools and products in addition to household goods. So, so of them are going to take ages to get unloaded, even if the locals offer to help."

The Dorm Mother nodded. "And even if you want to use magic, it’s not like you can actually accelerate the process of getting settled by all that much. At best, you can overcrowd the house with boxed and the shops with goods that need to be shelved and sorted.

But that will make the whole process even slower overall.

Compared to the sort of massive places so of these Nobles have described living in back ho, the housing situation in Forest Grove is much more crowded.

The sort of places we have for them, with apartnts over shops, are for the commoners in the Fallen Empire. They were more used to having sprawling estates.

I know that you made so of them for the higher Nobles underground, but that is only a few dozen out of thousands who are used to more space."

"Thank you for your ti, we will let you get back to your charges. If there are any more suspicious activities, don’t hesitate to let us know. In this case, the culprit exploited a loophole in the classroom wards for nefarious purposes, and we will address that with the teachers.

Just locking the doors when they’re not in use should be enough to prevent future incidents, but they will certainly want to know." Wolfe inford her before getting up to leave.

Their path took them past the tower, where the mages were busily sorting everyone out to ensure that they made it to their dorms, or in the case of the parents that had co to drop off their students, that they weren’t in the way.

Many of the students were children of Nobles who had enough influence to get a trip through the portal, unlike the first batch, who were all beastkin servants.

They were just passing one of the shops with a wagon full of goods inside when a massive explosion rocked the area, blowing out the barriers on the shop, and exploding into the street.

Wolfe jumped into action, hoping that there was a chance for survivors, and found one very shell - shocked young man laying in the rubble.

The Witches ca running over to provide healing, and Wolfe checked the man over. He had a protective spell active before the blast, so he was only a little injured, but he was stunned, and simply staring at the wreckage.

"Was there anyone inside?" Wolfe asked, moving in front of the shopkeeper, in case his hearing was damaged.

The man simply stared at the damage and pulled a necklace out of his shirt. There was a shattered gem array on it, presumably his armour spell, when it still had an enchantnt on it.

So, Wolfe went inside, increasing the power of his armour spell, and found nothing but the ruins of a number of wooden boxes, starting from a blast point along the back wall.

The artisan’s apartnt overhead would be demolished as well, but it was a freestanding building, so it wouldn’t have damaged anyone else’s ho.

The real question was: What in the world had happened?
