The next morning arrived wrapped in frost, the lowlands of Verdant Hollow blanketed in silver mist. Cold dew clung to every blade of grass, and the birds remained eerily quiet. Riku stood at the edge of the south-facing cliffs with Kira and Ayumi beside him. In the distance, a crater-like formation dipped deep into the forest, exuding an unnatural chill.

> [Relic Location Confird: Cryostone Grave] [Warning: Temperature Anomaly Detected. Bring Thermal Buffs.]

Riku had already purchased thermal resistance gear from the system store, layering them beneath his standard outfit. His breath fogged as they descended into the crater.

"This place looks ancient," Ayumi said, rubbing her arms.

Kira placed a hand on her dagger. "And cursed."

As they descended, crystalline structures jutted from the earth like frozen spires. In the center of the crater lay a lone sarcophagus made entirely of translucent blue stone, inscribed with language none of them could read.

> [System Detects: Dormant Spirit Energy] [Do you wish to activate the Relic Challenge?]

Riku looked at his companions. Both nodded.

He placed his hand against the sarcophagus.

> [Relic Challenge Initiated: Trial of Endurance - Cryostone Guardian Awakened]

The earth shook.

The sarcophagus shattered with a blast of icy mist, revealing a humanoid wraith composed of frost and fragnted armor. A two-handed crystal blade manifested in its hand, and its soulless gaze turned to Riku.

> [Cryostone Guardian - Level 42 - Elent: Ice Spirit]

Riku drew his blade.

> [Skill Activated: Pulse Blade Lv.2] [Skill Activated: Danger Sense Lv.1]

Kira flanked left with a leaping strike.

> [Skill Activated: Phantom Slash]

Ayumi cast a support spell.

> [Skill Activated: Fla Ward – Thermal Barrier Applied]

The Guardian moved like frozen lightning, swinging its massive blade with deceptive speed. It smashed into the earth, sending up icy shards.

Riku ducked and rolled, then struck at its exposed side. His blade left a trail of sparks, but no real damage.

"It’s regenerating!" Kira shouted.

> [System Advice: Target Core - Location: Chestplate Emblem]

Riku scanned it quickly. The glowing sigil across its chest pulsed.

"Ayumi! Focus fire on the chest emblem!"

She nodded, chanting.

> [Skill Cast: Fla Lance - Precision Mode]

A bolt of concentrated fire shot forward, piercing the crystal for a split second, just long enough for Riku to jump and drive his blade deep into the core.

The Guardian shrieked.

> [System Alert: Relic Core Fractured] [Boss Defeated]

The wraith exploded into harmless mist, and from its remains floated a radiant object.

mory Fragnt: Last Winter War

He saw a battlefield under perpetual snow. Armored titans wielding system-enhanced weapons clashed against human defenders. In the center of it all stood a woman with twin-colored eyes, channeling relic energy to open a portal.

Behind her, five other figures stood. Each bore a different system interface. Each looked toward the horizon with grim resolve.

> [This world was not the first. Nor will it be the last.]

---

Riku collapsed to one knee. Ayumi knelt beside him.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah... just a lot to process. There were others. Way more advanced. And they didn’t make it."

Kira helped him stand. "You’re not them. And you’re not alone."

Riku took a deep breath.

> [Final Relic Location: Crown of Echoes - Hidden Beneath the Academy’s Sub-Level Vault]

"Looks like we’re heading back."

---

Academy Grounds - Return Trip

As they approached the teleport pad to head back to campus, a student ssenger intercepted them.

"Riku Aoyama, you’ve been summoned by the Headmaster. Imdiately."

They exchanged glances. Ayumi and Kira were clearly concerned.

"I’ll go alone. et near the old observatory after," Riku said.

---

Headmaster’s Tower

The Headmaster sat alone, eyes sharp behind his glasses.

"You’ve made impressive progress, Riku. Too impressive."

Riku remained quiet.

"There are relics you’re not ant to find. Truths ant to remain buried."

Riku’s eyes narrowed. "Then why am I being led to them?"

The Headmaster leaned forward. "Because the world is shifting. And your system may be the only one capable of balancing the scales."

> [Hidden Trial Unlocked: The Third Gate]

"Complete your relic hunt. Then co back to . We’ll talk about the Gate. And what’s waiting beyond it."

---

The academy’s ancient architecture creaked under the weight of secrets. After his eting with the Headmaster, Riku walked alone down a corridor few had access to lined with long-forgotten statues and banners dulled by ti. Behind him, the door to the Headmaster’s Tower closed with an ominous thud.

He pulled up his system.

> [Relic Objective: Crown of Echoes] [Location: Sub-Level Vault 7B – Restricted Wing Below Arcane Archives]

> [Warning: Dinsional Interference Detected – Security May Be Active. Bring Companions or Risk ntal Strain.]

Riku paused near the observatory, where Ayumi and Kira were already waiting.

"Did he threaten you?" Kira asked, arms crossed.

"No. But the tone was clear: sothing bigger is coming, and they know I’m not ready for it yet."

"Then it’s ti we push forward before they push us out," Ayumi said, firm and unwavering.

He nodded. "We retrieve the last relic tonight."

---

Sub-Level Vault 7B

At midnight, cloaked under an invisibility buff and Ayumi’s illusion spell, the trio slipped into the sealed lower levels of the academy. Each hallway felt colder than the last. Arcane security runes flashed faintly, and echoing whispers drifted from behind the sealed cell doors.

They reached a staircase spiraling into a chamber guarded by a giant mural, a crown of stars suspended above a figure cloaked in shadows. Beneath the mural was a sigil-locked gate.

> [System Protocol: Overclock Access Key Deployed.] [Vault Entry Unlocked.]

The door rumbled open, revealing a pitch-black chamber, filled with silver threads floating midair, mories suspended in stasis.

In the center sat the Crown.

It was not regal, but alien. Six prongs bent in odd angles, with a floating jewel at its heart. Riku reached forward.

> [Warning: mory Saturation Risk. Relic will attempt Integration. Proceed?]

He looked to Ayumi and Kira.

"We do this together. If I collapse, pull back."

Kira gripped his shoulder. Ayumi extended her fla ward to encase them.

Riku touched the Crown.

mory Fragnt: The Fall of the Gatewalkers

He saw a city of impossible architecture, floating spires, inverted temples, and creatures ford of light. Six figures knelt before a being made of ti and void.

"We failed," said the lead Gatewalker.

"The Relics fragnted. The Crown is no longer whole."

"But we must try again," another whispered. "The next Gatewalker... might succeed."

A glowing sigil ford, breaking into shards.

Riku’s mind twisted. His own reflection stood before him, except it had red eyes.

"You are the last echo. Don’t beco a shadow."

The vision snapped.

---

Riku collapsed to his knees, blood dripping from his nose.

"Riku!" Ayumi and Kira grabbed him.

He gasped, trembling. "I saw... everything. The Gatewalkers were system users. From a ti before ti. They failed. But one fragnt of their mory... created ."

> [System Level Increased: Core mory Synced. Gatewalker Lineage Confird.]

> [New Skill Unlocked: Quantum Step - Instantly move through space for up to 20 ters. Can be used twice per battle.]

> [Points Earned: 5,000 Bonus]

Riku looked up, determination burning. "I’m not just a user. I’m a successor."

Academy Courtyard – Morning

News had spread: Rei Kanzaki had gone missing. The Sable Council was watching. Riku’s na was whispered in more places than he could track.

Instructors stared longer. So nodded with approval. Others... with suspicion.

Riku walked through them all like a storm’s eye. He knew now what he had to do.

"It’s ti to begin building more than just a kingdom," he said aloud. "It’s ti to prepare for war."

Kira and Ayumi, walking beside him, didn’t flinch.

"We’ll follow your lead, Riku," Kira said.

Ayumi nodded. "But only if you rember who you are. Not just a system bearer. Not a Gatewalker. But... Riku Aoyama."

He smiled. "Then let’s wake the world."

---

The sun barely peeked through the thick veil of clouds above the academy. Riku stood atop the outer terrace of the central tower, the wind tugging at his coat. Behind him, Kira and Ayumi waited quietly, watching as his eyes scanned the school grounds.

"Do you feel it?" he asked quietly.

Kira stepped beside him. "What exactly?"

"Change," Riku replied. "Everything’s shifting."

System Interface Active

> [System Notice: Gatewalker Protocol Initiated] [Legacy Trigger: Crown of Echoes Synced - Unlocking Evolution Pathways] [Path Options: Kingdom Architect | Dinsional Vanguard | Silent Watcher]

Riku narrowed his eyes.

> [Selected Path: Kingdom Architect]

> [Bonus Unlocked: Domain Core Expansion - You may now claim new territories outside Verdant Hollow.] [System Reward: Territory Influence Upgrade | Structure Blueprint Pack - Basic to Advanced]

Kira whistled as she read the display. "That’s huge."

Ayumi crossed her arms. "So we’re actually doing this? Not just surviving, but building?"

Riku turned. "We’re going to change the world."

---

Back at Verdant Hollow

Plans sprawled across a wide table inside the growing command cabin. Riku had acquired new blueprints from the system: barracks, watchtowers, energy nodes, mana-forged farming stations.

Each design ca with a material and point cost.

> [Available Points: 6,750] [Starter Bundle Remaining: 1x Terrain Modifier, 2x Construction Boost Vouchers]

Kira managed the build schedule. Ayumi supervised the guard rotations and began training basic recruits, handpicked locals from surrounding settlents drawn in by rumors of a growing safe zone.

Riku focused on infrastructure. His leadership style wasn’t commanding, it was strategic, inclusive. He asked for input and gave credit where it was due.

A week passed in this routine.

The Hollow’s transformation was staggering. Watchtowers stood proud at the valley entrances. Residential pods erged from the hillside. System drones buzzed overhead, setting stone blocks and stabilizing mana pillars.

Villagers brought stories.

Whispers of the "King with the Eyes of Code."

Of a "Ghost Queen" with blades of silver—Kira.

And a "Priestess of Fla"—Ayumi.

They were becoming more than leaders. They were becoming myths.

anwhile: Back at the Academy

Inside the sealed vault of the academy’s foundation, the Sable Council gathered. Rei Kanzaki stood at the edge of the inner circle.

"Crown of Echoes has responded," said a deep voice, its speaker hidden beneath a robe of shadows.

"The Gatewalker is real. But too early. He will falter."

Rei remained silent, his eyes flickering with inner conflict.

"We must test his kingdom. Break it before it becos a threat."

---

Three Days Later – Verdant Hollow

The peace ended abruptly.

Sirens blared across the valley. Ayumi ran into the main tower, her eyes wide.

"Portals, five of them. South ridge."

Kira was already grabbing her gear. "Bandits? Monsters?"

"No. Students," Ayumi said. "From the academy. Ard. And not friendly."

Riku walked calmly to the window, gazing at the shifting distortion in the sky.
