The clamor of lunchti echoed through the academy’s vast courtyard. Students milled about, so forming study circles, others engaging in casual banter. But all of it dimd when Riku Aoyama stepped out of the library, clutching a thick binder and his sleek notebook. The sun glinted off his glasses, and his refined stride exuded an air of subtle dominance. Conversations hushed. Heads turned. Whispers followed.

"There he is again..."

"Did you hear? He helped Professor Mitsuda revise an entire lecture last night. Alone."

"No way... Is he even human?"

Inside, Riku scoffed. Not at their admiration, but at how easily they were swayed by showmanship.

He scanned the courtyard. Ayumi sat under a sakura tree, the breeze catching her soft brown hair. Her book rested forgotten on her lap, eyes trained on him with an expression she didn’t often wear: curiosity... maybe more.

Their eyes t.

She quickly looked away, cheeks pinkening. Riku smiled faintly. That was new. And interesting.

He made his way toward her, past groups of envious boys and giggling girls.

"Busy again?" Ayumi asked, pretending to flip a page.

"Only if soone keeps interrupting my schedule," he said smoothly, setting his binder down beside her. "Is that jealousy I see, Ayumi?"

She scoffed, but her gaze lingered longer than usual. "Don’t flatter yourself. I just find it suspicious you keep topping every test, even ones we don’t study for."

Riku tapped the notebook. "Genius is lonely, but so of us thrive in silence."

She laughed lightly. "You really believe that?"

He leaned closer. "Don’t you?"

Their mont was interrupted when a girl with flowing violet hair—Katsura, a senior from the Student Council—approached.

"Aoyama, the Chairman wishes to see you. Imdiately."

The courtyard buzzed again. Being summoned by the academy’s Chairman wasn’t normal. Not unless you were exceptional—or a problem.

---

Inside the Chairman’s Office

Mahogany shelves lined with artifacts, tos, and scrolls surrounded them. Chairman Raizen, silver-haired and stern, watched Riku with eyes like daggers.

"You’ve made quite the na for yourself, Aoyama. The professors speak highly of you. So say too highly."

Riku’s deanor remained calm. "Should I apologize for excelling?"

Raizen smirked. "No. But tell this—how do you know the chemical breakdown of Obsidian Dust when it was only recently discovered?"

Riku said nothing. Silence was his defense.

"You used... sothing, didn’t you? Sothing not taught here."

"I just study differently."

The Chairman leaned forward. "We’re watching you. Even brilliance can burn too bright."

Riku nodded once. "Then wear your shades."

anwhile - Faculty Quarters

Professor Reina Kisaragi stood in front of a mirror, brushing her long black hair. Her thoughts wandered to Riku—how he had deciphered her ancient riddle in under a minute during class.

He was brilliant.

Too brilliant.

She pulled out a dusty journal marked with a strange sigil: The Forgotten Order.

"Could he be the one we’ve been waiting for?"

A shadow lood outside her window, nodding once before vanishing into the dark.
