The academy’s corridors were abuzz.

Riku Aoyama had beco a na that echoed in every classroom, whispered across courtyards, and scribbled into notebooks. Whether it was admiration, jealousy, or raw curiosity, his reputation was cented—and growing.

It was only the second week back after the vacation, but things had changed. His lectures were now filled with subtle stares, quiet murmurs, and glances from teachers that lingered just a little longer.

He didn’t mind. Not entirely.

If anything, it ant the system was working exactly as he intended.

> [Passive Activated: Adaptive Perception Aura Lv.1 – Subtly attracts intellectual attention within 10-ter radius.] [System Note: Popularity Rising – Impact Score 5]

He sat in Advanced Theoretical chanics, casually solving formulas ahead of the teacher’s pacing. Around him, even the top students glanced his way from ti to ti, their brows furrowed.

Ayumi, seated diagonally behind him, bit the tip of her pen. Her eyes flicked from her notes to him and back, more often than necessary.

He caught it.

She imdiately looked away, feigning focus. But the slight pink at the tip of her ears betrayed her.

Riku smirked.

He rembered their interaction during the Verdant Hollow trip—the way she’d leaned against him in the cave, the quiet conversations, the shared silences. Sothing had shifted. She was more aware of him now... and he was aware of her.

> [Affinity Alert – Ayumi: 56% → 64%] [New Emotional Tag: Curiosity > Attraction]

He didn’t need the system to tell him what that ant. But it helped.

The bell rang.

As students filtered out, Ayumi hesitated at her desk. Riku took his ti packing up, and sure enough, she walked up beside him.

"You’re always ahead in that class," she said, brushing a lock of her dark hair behind her ear.

"I try," he replied coolly, slipping his notebook into his bag. "The material’s easy when you’ve seen most of it before."

"That’s a weird way to phrase it," she said, eyebrows raised.

"Maybe," he said, smiling slightly. "Or maybe I’m just a genius."

She laughed, surprised. "Confident today, aren’t we?"

He leaned in just a little. "Only because you’re watching."

Her breath hitched slightly. She didn’t answer at first, then looked away with a half-smile. "I need to go to Alchemy class."

"I’ll walk you."

They walked together, the distance between them charged, though unspoken.

---

anwhile, in the faculty lounge, Instructor Mizuki scrolled through her digital tablet, sipping black coffee. The na "Riku Aoyama" was highlighted across multiple grading reports.

His scores had improved exponentially. Even her personal observations noted his sudden mastery in subjects where he’d previously been average.

"He’s either unlocked his potential or he’s hiding sothing," she muttered.

Her colleague, Professor Katsu, glanced over. "Aoyama? That transfer student?"

She nodded. "He’s gaining too much attention. It’s almost... manufactured."

"You think he’s cheating?"

"No," she said. "If he is, it’s not anything we can detect. He knows exactly how to mask the spike. But he’s not just smart—he’s thodical."

Professor Katsu rubbed his chin. "Reminds of that incident ten years ago."

Mizuki’s eyes narrowed. "You don’t an—"

"Sa pattern. A sudden genius. Rising influence. And then... vanishing."

---

Later that day, Riku stood alone in the academy courtyard, reviewing his latest System updates.

> [New Passive: Scholar’s Prestige Lv.1 – Teachers and Authorities perceive you as more trustworthy and capable.] [New Coupon Acquired: Minor mory Injection – Add knowledge on one academic subject.] [Points Earned Today: 60]

He debated using the mory Injection on Arcane History or Combat Tactics. He decided to save it for now.

"Hey," Ayumi called from behind.

He turned. "Back already?"

She nodded. "I was wondering if... you’re joining the student forum tomorrow?"

"The one about territory funding?"

"Yeah. You have one now, right? Verdant Hollow?"

He nodded. "Still under developnt. But yeah."

"I think you should speak. A lot of people would listen."

He raised an eyebrow. "Including you?"

Ayumi shrugged. "Maybe."

He stepped closer. "Then I’ll be there."

---

That night, Riku returned to his room, leaning back on his bed. His system interface shimred to life in the dark.

> [Ongoing Missions: Investigate Underground Duel Rings – Status: Pending] [Optional Trigger: Accept Invitation to Secret Debate Society] [Incoming ssage: Kira]

He opened the ssage.

Kira: "Any strange activity? I heard whispers sothing might happen near the academy soon. Keep your eyes open."

Riku stared at the ssage.

Sothing was building. Beneath the attention, beneath the curiosity—sothing darker lurked in the academy’s shadows.

He looked out the window toward the moonlit courtyard.

Whatever was coming, he’d face it.

With charm, cunning... and the system.
