Chapter 30: [30] The Realm-Breaker Engine

The dungeons of the Ebon Citadel were cold and dark and utterly silent.

Forged from the remnants of the Blackwood Estate deepest vaults, the holding cells were specifically designed to suppress high-tier spiritual energy.

Aurelia sat huddled in the corner of a heavy starlight-tal cell.

The forr Valkyrie Commander was a broken shell of the arrogant deity who had demanded Arthur’s surrender hours ago.

Her golden armor had been stripped away. It was replaced by a simple grey prisoner tunic. Her back was a mass of agonizing bandaged wounds where her magnificent wings used to be.

She stared blankly at the stone floor. She was waiting for the torture to begin. She was waiting for the monster who had shattered her reality to co and claim her.

Heavy deliberate footsteps echoed down the corridor.

Arthur Sterling stood on the other side of the energy barrier. He didn’t look like a gloating victor. He looked like a CEO checking on an asset.

He didn’t say a word. He simply raised his hand and tossed a thick leather-bound ledger through the barrier. It hit the floor right in front of Aurelia’s feet.

"Read it," Arthur commanded.

Aurelia flinched. Her golden eyes darted up to his face. Slowly, with trembling hands, she picked up the book. She opened it.

Her breath hitched.

It was the master ledger of the Blackwood family. It was stolen by Lyra during the raid.

Page after page detailed the exact operational logistics of the Mortal Domain.

It listed the number of beasts dropped into the lower realms. It cataloged the exact soul-yield harvested from mortal deaths.

It ticulously broke down how the Apex Council actively manipulated famines and wars to maximize the energy output of the mortals they ruled.

"You thought you were fighting for righteousness," Arthur said coldly. His voice echoed in the damp cell.

"You thought you were the sword of justice. You are not. You were the security guard for a slaughterhouse. Your Heavens are just parasites feeding on livestock."

Aurelia’s hands shook violently. She dropped the ledger. Tears of absolute betrayal and horrifying realization spilled over her cheeks.

The rigid dogmatic faith that had fueled her existence shattered completely.

Everything she had ever done was just to protect the profit margins of corrupt gluttonous gods.

"Why..." Aurelia choked out. She wrapped her arms around her knees. "Why are you showing

this? Just kill ."

"I do not waste useful capital," Arthur replied casually.

"You have tactical experience. You know the exact layout of the Apex Council military forces. I am offering you a new contract. Work for . Serve my empire, and I will let you watch

burn the Heavens to ash."

Aurelia looked up at him. She saw the cold unyielding ambition in his dark eyes.

He was a monster, yes. But he was a monster who offered the truth. He offered vengeance.

Slowly, the fallen Valkyrie pushed herself to her knees. She bowed her head until her forehead touched the cold stone. She surrendered her pride and her faith and her very soul.

"Command , Master," Aurelia whispered.

Arthur smiled as a torrential flood of chaotic faith-shattering energy rushed into his system.

It was violent and unstable. It provided the perfect fuel for his next phase of expansion.

Hours later, the Ebon Citadel was entirely operational.

In the primary training courtyards, Aurelia wasted no ti proving her worth.

Clad in a sleek dark Vanguard uniform that replaced her golden armor, she paced back and forth before a line of two hundred elite shadow-guards.

She was brutal. She was exacting.

She was drilling centuries of Apex-tier military tactics into Arthur’s mortal troops. She barked orders and corrected stances with a fierce punishing efficiency.

Up on his balcony, Arthur watched the training session. He felt a massive continuous wave of power washing over him.

Arthur rolled his shoulders. He felt the heavy suffocating mantle of the War-God settle over his already imposing aura.

His foundation was flawless. His staff was assembled. It was ti for a company dinner.

The grand banquet hall of the Ebon Citadel was a masterpiece of dark mahogany and polished obsidian.

At the head of the massive table sat Arthur Sterling. He was the undisputed Emperor of his newly forged domain.

To his imdiate right sat Sylvia Thorne, the Arch-Mage. Her icy elegance acted as the perfect counterweight to the tension in the room.

To his left lounged Morwenna, the Demon Empress. She sipped celestial wine and eyed the others with predatory amusent. Her heavy chest moved along with her breathing.

Further down the table sat Lyra, the Stardusk Rogue. She playfully tossed a stolen golden dagger in the air.

Across from her sat Aurelia. She was rigid and entirely focused. It was a stark contrast to the thief’s relaxed deanor.

The tension in the room was heavy. Four imnsely powerful and dangerous won were all bound to the sa man. They were all vying for his attention and approval.

Morwenna casually leaned over. Her hand rested intimately on Arthur’s thigh as she shot a smug look at Sylvia.

The Arch-Mage’s eyes narrowed. The temperature of her wine glass instantly dropped to absolute zero.

Arthur chuckled softly. The sound was deep and rich. It instantly cut through the heavy tension in the room.

He didn’t yell. He didn’t flare his aura. He simply reached down and gently patted the hand Morwenna had rested on his thigh. He gave it a reassuring squeeze before shifting his gaze to the others.

"Ladies," Arthur spoke smoothly. His dark eyes danced with amusent as he looked at his executive board. "I am flattered. I really am."

The subtle infighting paused. Morwenna blinked in surprise. Her pout turned into a slow wicked smile. Sylvia averted her eyes quickly. A deep red blush painted her cheeks, but she imdiately crossed her arms to maintain her icy pride.

"But there is plenty of

to go around," Arthur continued. He leaned back in his throne and smiled. It was the smile of a man who had lived long enough to know exactly how to handle dangerous won.

"You are all extraordinary in your own ways," Arthur stated. "Sylvia, your intellect keeps this Citadel breathing. Morwenna, your wild strength is unmatched. Lyra, your cunning is my greatest asset. And Aurelia, your discipline will forge my Vanguard."

He paused and let his warm gaze linger on each of their faces.

"I need you to work together. Jealousy is a terrible waste of your beautiful talents. When you share the burden of building this empire, you will all share the rewards. Are we on the sa page?"

Instead of a simple obedient agreent, the four won exchanged cautious and wary glances. They were proud and imnsely powerful. They were not going to suddenly hold hands and act like sisters.

Sylvia adjusted her posture, delicately swirling her wine with a haughty smirk.

"I suppose we can cooperate. Assuming, of course, the Demon Empress honors our earlier wager and pays the twenty thousand divine crystals she owes

for misjudging the Valkyrie’s resilience."

Morwenna slowly dragged her nails across the mahogany table, her abyssal tattoos pulsing. "You were the one who underestimated his speed, ice witch. He broke her in under two minutes, which ans I won. But I will play nice," she purred, her golden eyes sliding back to Arthur. "As long as my Emperor rewards my victory with a private sparring session later."

Lyra caught her falling dagger by the hilt and grinned. "As long as the loot is split evenly, I do not care who sits next to who."

Aurelia remained rigid, her posture perfect as she pointedly ignored the fact that they were openly debating the betting pool placed on her absolute humiliation. She gave a stiff, military nod. "I will not engage in such childish wagers or petty argunts. Your Vanguard will not fight among themselves. You have my word."

Arthur smirked. He stood up from his throne and adjusted his dark coat. It was a complicated and ssy dynamic, but it was far more entertaining this way.

"Good," Arthur declared. "Because the honeymoon phase is over. We have an acquisition to make."

He brought up the system interface and accessed the shop.

He had fard millions of System Points from the destruction of the Golden Armada. He auto-looted their armor and weapons and cores. He didn’t hesitate.

[Unlock Shop Access]

?? Purchasing: Realm-Breaker Engine

?? Cost: 5,000,000 System Points

?? Effect: Allows a massive spatial structure to bypass dinsional boundaries and teleport across the Apex Realm.

"System. Integrate the engine into the Citadel core," Arthur commanded. "Set coordinates for the Silverleaf Capital. Let us go bankrupt a Syndicate."

Deep within the bowels of the floating fortress, a massive engine roared to life.

The Ebon Citadel violently shuddered. The space around the island warped and teared.

In a flash of blinding dark light, the entire floating continent vanished from the neutral zone. They teleported directly toward the beating financial heart of the Apex Realm.

The hostile takeover was going multiversal.
