Chapter 10: [10] Shattering the Chains
Arthur Sterling stood in the center of the Abyssal Rift.
The sheer pressure of his perfectly balanced energies cracked the black glass beneath his heavy boots.
His right eye glowed with the pristine glacial blue of an Arch-Mage. At the sa ti, his left eye burned with the liquid gold world-ending destruction of the Abyss.
It was a state of existence that defied every established law of the multiverse. Pseudo-Ascension.
The six Apex Wardens towering chanical constructs of pure white starlight tal froze entirely. Their featureless faces twitched as their internal tracking systems completely short-circuited.
To the Heavens, the integration of Pure mana and Abyssal energy was not just impossible. It was heresy of the highest and most absolute order.
"Target is incomprehensible," one of the Wardens buzzed. Its voice was a grating tallic screech. "Directive remains. Purge all Abyssal corruption. Erase the anomaly."
"Purge?" Arthur chuckled softly.
The sound was layered with a dark vibrating resonance that made the ambient miasma tremble. "You overgrown tin cans don’t have the clearance to fire ."
"SWOOSH!"
The six Wardens lunged simultaneously. Their flaming greatswords ca down in a synchronized and inescapable net of divine execution.
Arthur didn’t even bother to raise the Ebonheart Sword. He simply blurred.
His Void-Step Mantra propelled him forward at a speed that left a physical afterimage in the air. The six flaming swords slamd into the glass floor where he had stood a microsecond before, triggering a massive blinding explosion of holy fire.
"BOOM!"
Arthur ignored the shockwave that washed over his God-Tier Isolation Veil. He appeared directly in front of the massive thrumming starlight chains binding Morwenna.
The Demon Empress watched him with wide disbelieving eyes.
"You actually survived the integration," Morwenna breathed. Her voice was barely a whisper over the roar of the chanical angels behind him.
"I told you, I’m the new managent," Arthur said smoothly.
He didn’t use a spell. He didn’t use his sword either. Arthur raised his bare hands.
His muscles bulged as the Dinsional Breaker Physique flared to life, fueled by the newly integrated Abyssal God-Energy. He grabbed the thick glowing links of the divine chains.
The holy magic violently hissed as it tried to incinerate his flesh. But the abyssal energy coating his skin ate the holy fire just as fast.
"CRACK!"
Arthur ripped his hands apart. The indestructible Heavenly-forged chains shattered like cheap plastic, exploding into a shower of brilliant white sparks.
Morwenna gasped as the thousands of intricate seals piercing her flesh dissolved. Having been bound for centuries, her body was completely devoid of strength.
She collapsed forward and expected to hit the harsh glass floor.
Instead, Arthur caught her easily. He pulled her slender tattooed fra against his chest.
"Careful partner," Arthur murmured with his arm securely wrapped around her waist.
Morwenna gritted her teeth. A bitter feeling of helplessness washed over her.
"You broke the cage mortal. But I am empty. It will take
centuries of deep slumber to regenerate even a fraction of my true power. I cannot fight those constructs."
Arthur just gave her that sa arrogant corporate smirk. "Good thing my company offers excellent health benefits."
[Ding!]
[System Action]
?? Bound Consort Feedback Loop Initiated.
?? Transferring accumulated system reserves to Target: Morwenna.
Morwenna’s breath hitched violently. She expected a slow agonizing recovery. She expected to be a burden and a weak captive Empress forced to rely on a mortal man.
What she got instead was a torrential flood of pure power.
Arthur’s system bypassed all natural laws of recovery. It forcefully injected her own Abyssal God-Energy multiplied by his own absurd reserves directly back into her withered soul.
"Fvck!" Morwenna scread.
Her back arched as her dark crimson gown fluttered wildly. The pulsing black tattoos on her pale skin ignited with blinding dark violet light. Her fangs elongated and the ambient dark matter of the Rift violently swirled around them. It bowed in absolute submission.
In the span of three seconds, she wasn’t just healed. She was pushed to the absolute terrifying zenith of her peak strength.
Morwenna opened her liquid gold eyes and stared up at Arthur in sheer unfiltered shock.
He hadn’t just given her a spark. He had handed her a sun. He was a walking breathing cheat code.
The arrogance she had clung to as her only defense shattered. It was instantly replaced by a fierce possessive and wildly intoxicating loyalty.
"You..." Morwenna whispered while her hands gripped the lapels of his coat. "You are no mortal. You’re a monster."
"I’m a CEO," Arthur corrected.
"Whatever you are," Morwenna purred.
Her lips brushed against his jawline as a terrifying beautiful smile spread across her face. "You are the only male in this pathetic universe strong enough to hold my leash. I am yours Emperor."
Before Arthur could reply, the six Apex Wardens ripped their swords from the floor. They turned their featureless heads toward the massive spike in demonic energy.
"Corruption levels critical. Executing extre prejudice."
"Rest in my shadow," Arthur ordered Morwenna with his gaze shifting to the chanical angels.
Morwenna didn’t hesitate. With a dark sultry laugh, her physical form dissolved into a pool of living darkness. She slid seamlessly into Arthur’s shadow.
Instantly, Arthur felt a massive comforting presence guarding his back. A lethal bodyguard perfectly synced to his soul.
Arthur slowly raised his left hand and pointed his index finger at the charging Wardens.
[Ding!]
[System Ability]
?? Initiating Ultimate Spell: Cataclysmic Annihilation Ray.
A sphere of condensed pitch-black energy the size of a marble ford at the tip of his finger. It didn’t emit sound. It didn’t emit light. It simply existed as a pure undeniable void of absolute erasure.
"Downsizing," Arthur whispered.
"ZZZZZZT!"
A beam of dark matter no thicker than a pencil shot from his finger. It swept across the cavern in a horizontal arc. The beam passed through the thick starlight tal of the six Apex Wardens without a single sound of resistance.
For a second, the constructs continued to run. Then their upper halves simply slid off their lower halves.
"BOOM!"
The Wardens exploded into massive fireballs of divine energy. Their conceptual cores were completely erased from reality.
The beam didn’t stop there. It hit the far wall of the Abyssal Rift and silently ate through millions of tons of bedrock. It permanently expanded the canyon by miles in a single second.
Arthur lowered his hand and felt slightly impressed. The efficiency was beautiful.
[Ding!]
[System Enhancent]
?? Ebonheart Cube has absorbed the remains of the Apex Wardens.
?? Weapon Nexus upgraded. Attribute Acquired: Holy.
The pitch-black longsword in his right hand humd. A vein of pure white starlight integrated into the dark tal. Now he could cut with both the Abyss and the Heavens.
"We have a lot of work to do," Arthur said to the shadow beneath his feet.
"I am eager to bleed them for you," Morwenna’s voice echoed directly in his mind dripping with lethal intent.
Just as Arthur turned to find a way back to the surface, the entire Abyssal Rift shuddered. The system interface violently flashed bright red in his vision accompanied by a blaring siren that only he could hear.
[CRITICAL ALERT!]
?? Apex Overseer Kaelen has forcefully descended upon The Mortal Domain.
?? Target Location: Vanguard Bastion.
Arthur’s smirk widened. His eyes glead with cold predatory anticipation. The middle-managent he had been waiting for finally showed up to audit the branch.
"Perfect," Arthur muttered. He bent his knees as abyssal energy gathered around his boots. "The harvest has arrived."
With a deafening sonic boom that shattered the remaining glass in the cavern, Arthur launched himself straight up into the pitch-black sky. He tore toward the surface like a dark teor.
