Rohan couldn’t believe his ears.

First, he got two inventories for free. Now, he didn’t even have to go through any stress to get his first network bond.

Why was he so damn lucky after stepping into the Frontier Realm? Or was everyone here just too nice?

He stared at Eric for a while before finally speaking. "You’re sure?"

"Yes," Eric answered imdiately. "You see, that Class ans you don’t have any ability yet. The least I can do is share mine with you."

Rohan smiled. Eric was nothing but a nice, naive idiot. If people like him were the Hunters in the realm, then this place wouldn’t be a battle for power. Instead, it’d be great and epic but a bit... cartoonish for Rohan, so yes, a battle for power was a better status quo.

"Okay, give your hands."

Eric stretched his hands forward, then he and Rohan held hands, which was really, really weird and uncomfortable.

The System decided to break the awkwardness as different ssages appeared to Eric and Rohan, visible only to them individually.

For Eric, it showed:

[You’re willing to share your ability through consent to Scion Of Infinity]

[Yes/No]

He ntally chose Yes. Then the System words faded, arranging themselves into new words simultaneously.

[Checking Eligibility....]

[...]

[Eligible!]

[You’ve sent a Bond and Share Request to Scion Of Infinity]

The ssage processed and transmitted to Rohan in seconds.

[Class Activated!]

[Runesmith has sent a Bond and Share request]

’Accept.’

[Accepted]

[Checking Eligibility....]

[...]

[Ineligible! Requirents not t!]

[Requirents: Add to Network!]

[Add Runesmith to Network..Yes/No]

’Yes.’

[Adding...]

[Declined!]

Rohan frowned slightly.

Disappointnt washed over Rohan imdiately. Eric—unable to see the System ssage—frowned, noticing the change in Rohan’s expression.

"What’s wrong?"

Rohan turned to him and smiled sheepishly, hiding his pain. "Apparently, you’re too strong."

"Huh?" Eric’s frown deepened.

"I can only bond with you when I’m at forty percent experience, and I’m really, really below that."

"Oh... bumr. Who can you bond with then?"

Rohan’s disappointed expression returned. "Level One Uncommon."

Eric didn’t reply, contemplating an idea. "Well, I don’t think we can just walk up to anyone and ask them to bond. Maybe you should start grinding toward that forty percent? Didn’t you say we should go for that beast training now?"

A deadpan gaze imdiately settled on Rohan’s face.

’What does he an by "we"?’ he thought inwardly.

"I think you’re a bit more eager than . Why is that?" he asked politely.

"Ah, sorry... does that make seem sus and weird? Sorry. I just get excited when I et a new friend. Trust , that’s all."

’Friend, huh?’

Rohan smiled, although he still didn’t believe him. "Okay, if you say so."

"But about the beast training, I think we should keep it for a week or two until we’re properly ready, and maybe by then I would’ve gotten a bond and you’d have gained a better understanding of your Class," he added.

Eric nodded approvingly at Rohan’s decision. "Makes sense. So, do we train now?"

"Not yet. I still need to visit the people involved in registration to know if my friend has arrived yet."

"Oh, a friend?" Eric mused.

"Yes, she hasn’t arrived since yesterday," Rohan said with a worried expression.

"She? Hmm."

Rohan threw a furtive glance at Eric. "What do you an by ’hmm’? She’s just a friend."

"Okay... my bad, my bad," Eric said, smirking.

’Dumbass.’

They both walked out of the room, heading for the registration office.

"You don’t say—"

Rohan cut him off, already knowing what he wanted to say. "No, she’s Rare. I can’t bond with her yet."

Eric’s shoulders slumped.

---

After eting with those in charge of registration, it turned out no other Hunters had appeared after Rohan’s batch. At 12 a.m., newly awakened individuals were sent to their chosen Regions, but given the ti differences back on Earth, people arrived in batches in the Frontier Realm.

Yet, Mira wasn’t in either of the batches.

"What if she changed her Region?" Eric pointed out.

"No, she would’ve told ."

"She might have tried. Maybe it just didn’t reach you," Eric assured him.

"No, she’s not the type to make late decisions. Tch, I’m so worried," Rohan muttered.

"She’s fine, I’m sure. A Rare Class isn’t a small Class, after all. By the way, how do you know so much about her?"

Rohan scratched the back of his head. "Well, we grew up in the sa orphanage and left together. We’ve also lived in the sa house together and even shared a bed as teenagers, but later on, I moved out when she started bringing girlfriends around. Couldn’t make it weird. Still, we’re best friends."

"Ohh... your sister then?"

"You could say that, but I’d say we’re more than siblings."

A mischievous grin appeared on Eric’s face. Seeing it, Rohan hissed and rolled his eyes.

"...and also less than lovers because we’re not. Do you have any other thoughts? Argh, for fuck’s sake."

With that, they moved to the training grounds.

---

The next two weeks were both interesting and disappointing for Rohan. Sadly, he couldn’t bond with anyone. On the bright side, he had taken a huge leap in fighting. After countless training sessions with Eric and a few others, he had drastically increased his knowledge to the extent that it shifted his Frontier Experience from 0% to 1%.

It looked aningless and insignificant, but to Rohan, it ant a lot. The System acknowledging his gradual understanding was a huge win.

Eric, on the other hand, had also improved greatly.

Unlike Rohan, whose growth mostly ca from understanding combat fundantals, Eric’s growth ca from understanding his Class. The more he experinted with his runes, the more uses he discovered for them. During the first few days, he could barely maintain a single rune for more than a few minutes before it faded. Two weeks later, he could maintain multiple runes simultaneously without exhausting himself.

His Strength Rune beca more stable, allowing him to enhance parts of his body without wasting essence on areas he didn’t need. His Speed Rune also improved significantly through repeated practice. Instead of applying it across his entire body, he learned how to focus it into specific movents—a burst of speed during a dodge, a quick acceleration during an attack. Small things that made a huge difference in actual combat.

The biggest improvent ca from his Reinforcent Rune. Initially, Eric only used it on himself, but after countless training sessions, he discovered that weapons responded to the rune even better than flesh. His wooden spear beca noticeably sturdier whenever the rune was active, allowing him to strike harder without worrying about it breaking during practice. The instructors praised the discovery and encouraged him to continue exploring different rune combinations.

As for Rohan, he spent most of those two weeks fighting, training, and learning. While his Frontier Experience only increased by a single percent, his actual combat ability improved far more than the number suggested. He no longer froze during exchanges, no longer overthought every movent, and had developed enough instincts to hold his own against most beginner Hunters. He was still far from skilled, but he was no longer helpless.

Most importantly, the two weeks had confird sothing.

The Frontier Realm rewarded effort.

Those who trained improved. Those who adapted survived. Those who remained stagnant were left behind. It was a simple rule, but one Rohan found himself liking more and more with each passing day.

Currently, the two of them walked through a section of the pavilion before turning right. Ahead of them stood a large caged training ground surrounded by reinforced wooden walls. Several Hunters waited outside while distant growls echoed from within the enclosure.

Standing before the entrance was a massive man clad in red armor. Scars covered his exposed arms while a heavy axe rested against his shoulder.

Rohan walked over and stopped in front of him.

"We are here for beast training."
