880 thousand years before William t the System.

In a vast and unwelcoming void far from the Mortal Realms, a graceful woman enshrouded in flas that matched her hair faced off with fifty opponents enshrouded in a blinding golden light. The woman's brows were furrowed as she glared at each of her opponents carefully.

"How did you find ? And who has co for this ti?" she spat flas as she spoke.

"We see all that happens in the Ascended Realms, even this dark place you call sanctuary, Efretta. It doesn't matter who we are." one of the figures responded with a calm smile, as if everything had been predetermined since the beginning.

"Ha! You're not as strong as you claim to be. Why else would you send fifty just for ?" Efretta scoffed.

"You're a dangerous individual. We can't have you running away, can we?" the individual ignored Efretta's provocation. He issued an order, "Get her."

The one that spoke sat to the side while the other forty-nine figures moved in unison, surrounding Efretta from all sides. An incomparably strong Array ford between the group, erecting a barrier a million kiloters in every direction that would prevent anyone from escaping in a short amount of ti.

Efretta smirked, her petite lips curling up as she said a single word, "Burn."

In an instant, the entire arena was set ablaze, the Barrier Array and all fifty golden-shrouded individuals included. The Barrier Array cracked as the group cast various Spells to counter Efretta's attack, nearly destroyed the mont it was created.

"Tch." Efretta frowned at the state of the Array, which should have been disintegrated the mont it ford. "You've put a lot of effort into this. You even brought a Superior Ti-Altering Stone."

"And we will make sure you are caught this ti." the individual gloated as he crushed a colorful triangular crystal.

The Array Barrier that was initially very weak was restored in an instant, duplicated by an unknown force that seed to move ti forwards and backwards simultaneously. At the sa ti, the injuries to the group were all healed, and their mana was restored to their peak while a chunk Efretta's Mana Reserves were consud.

She gritted her teeth as a sense of weakness overwheld her, Mana of the Darkness Elent drawn to her lips as another word ford.

"Disintegrate."

The golden aura on Efretta's opponents disappeared little by little, consud by the innate power of the Darkness Elent. The Cultivators hidden behind the aura beca visible and less otherworldly than they did before.

"See. You're nothing special." Efretta channeled a mix of Sound and Dream Mana into her voice, her words reaching the ears of everyone in the arena while simultaneously convincing them that they were nothing compared to her.

It was an emotional attack unlike any other, one that would even cause saints to commit atrocities if Efretta wished them to do so. Read chapters at empire

The Cultivators scread in agony as their confidence wavered, but the ringing of a bell was enough to wake them up from their stupor. Efretta was left annoyed once more as the holder of said bell was the sa individual.

"You're annoying." she said as Death Mana burst forth. "Die. Quickly."

With unnatural speed comparable to that of the Light Elent at its peak, the Death Mana burst from Efretta's mouth and wrapped the leader of the Cultivators tightly, aging him by tens of thousands of years in an instant and siphoning the life force to Efretta.

In the middle of its path, Efretta noticed sothing odd about the life force and decided to stop it with Ice Mana, "Freeze."

A raspy voice ca from within the Death Mana, "You're just as powerful as ever, Efretta. Too bad for you, I have plenty of thods to deal with you."

Efretta's eyes widened as her Death Mana dispersed, revealing a husk that almost resembled the man that she had targeted. Upon closer inspection, however, she noticed that this person was not the sa.

"A substitute... And they match your aura so closely. You dared to sacrifice your own blood for ?" Efretta couldn't believe what she was seeing.

"Anything if it ans you'll stop ddling. I've lost more than my cousin because of the things you've done." he said seriously.

"Don't bla what the Heavens did on ." Efretta said as she countered a series of sword lights with her fingernail. If not for the consecutive suppressive effects and a prior injury, Efretta would have obliterated this entire group already.

The man remained silent as he spoke a Necromantic Spell into existence, "Dead Souls, Revive."

Millions of wisps of light floated over from afar and condensed into hundreds of thousands of humanoid figures. Their clothes were ragged and their eyes turbid, but they each stared directly at Efretta as if they already knew the purpose of their existence.

"Go." the Cultivator said, causing the revived souls to charge at Efretta without abandon. Life or death mattered not to them, only the opportunity to bury their opponents the sa way they had been once before.

"Charles the Soul Snatcher. That's who you are. It all makes sense now why you'd use your own cousin as a substitute. I felt so pity before, but now I could care less. Fate Reversal." Efretta glared at the man nad Charles as she banished the group of souls to an unknown dinsion.

"Hehe. It seems that even if I change my appearance, my skills are too noteworthy." Charles smiled mischievously as his form changed to a three-ter-tall man with arms so skinny that a normal human might be able to snap them in half.

His skin was yellowing, but it carried a strong life force that seed to belong to an uncountable number of people, a sign of how many innocent lives had been claid by this person.

"So even the Heavens have bent you to their will, huh? You're just as trash as the rest." Efretta looked at Charles much more warily than she did before. Charles the Soul Snatcher was no cannon fodder.

"They think they can control , but I'm after much more than their good graces." Charles' smile widened, becoming almost monstrous as a row of jagged teeth poked out.

"Ew. You concern ." Efretta frowned.

"You should be concerned about yourself!" Charles shouted as he leaped forward, Necromancy Mana forming a cloud around his hands as he reached for Efretta.

She backed off, using Necromancy Mana of her own to counter her opponent's. The two Mana collided in midair, Efretta's quickly devoured by Charles' much stronger version, but her move did the trick.

"Oho? The Talented Mage Of All has a weaker Elent than ? What a surprise!" Charles sent more of his Mana to clash with Efretta, forcing her to waste more of her Mana in comparison. The other Cultivators joined in, adding more Mana to the mix and forcing Efretta on the defensive, exhausting her Mana Reserves at a visible pace.

Ten days later, Efretta was in horrible shape, while her opponents were still in good condition. The combined assault from Charles and the rest was too much even for a peerless genius like Efretta.

Her head hung low as she secretly sent out a wisp of her soul in a certain direction, which would return to her main body and form a double soti in the next million years that would hopefully free her.

Charles walked up and used a special set of chains to bind Efretta, sealing all of her Magic and other Talents in an instant, but he failed to notice the wisp of light that sped off in the distance. Seeing Efretta's miserable condition, Charles adopted a serious attitude and issued an order to his comrades.

"It's ti to turn in. Guard her well and don't let her leave your sight."
