Discover hidden tales at empire
William blinked. One mont, he was being crushed to death by a wall of text, while the next he was back in a luxurious room where the Monarch of the Dragon Continent and Riyald were both standing.
With his Ti Affinity, William could tell that barely a second had passed since he entered the simulation, and neither his Master nor the Monarch were aware of his disappearance.
While Riyald and the Monarch exchanged questions, William beca silent as he tried to understand what had just happened.
That Duon person... he at least has the Ti and Space Elents, and... Fate slash Karma? What is that all about? Not to ntion the divination, I can't make sense of it at all.
A man with heart collecting more, a boy is not prepared for what's in store... The first part is so obscure. Is the man , or am I the boy? If I'm the man, then why would having heart be important?
I'm probably the boy, since the rest of the divination is talking about the boy. What am I not prepared for?
There were too many questions, and not enough answers, which seed to be the trend in this World. As his strength grew, the number of questions William had increased, rather than decreasing.
He tried to organize his thoughts in a simple manner.
I don't know much about the Heavens, I hardly know anything about the World. I don't know the relationship between the World and the Heavens at all, but at least I know what happens when World Cores are absorbed, and why the dragons of the Dragon Continent disappeared.
It seed that humans were the reason for the dragons' disappearance, but not specifically the natives of the Dragon Continent. Instead, a now-dead branch of the Yu Royal Family was at fault, while the Heavens were the true reason.
To create Magical Beasts just to deal with humans that absorb World Cores... it's not right at all!
In William's opinion, Magical Beasts were more like the wild animals of his previous World. Regardless of how vicious they were, animals were part of the ecosystem and shouldn't be used in such a way.
Except mosquitos. Mosquitos can burn in Hell.
If the Heavens were a person in his old World, they'd be jailed for animal abuse at the very least. Thinking of that made William laugh for a mont, but then he thought of Golden Girl.
Is she the one doing all of this? She gave the Heaven's Aura Mark, could the secondary effect be a bad thing that she will use to control later? Will I be treated just like these Magical Beasts, unable to resist and forced to fight for their cause?
The more questions he asked, the more muddled William's mind beca. He clutched his head in pain as a massive headache ford, drawing the attention of the Monarch and Riyald.
"Disciple William, are you alright?" Riyald asked. He had never seen his Disciple show an expression of pain like this one, and it made him wonder if William had been secretly attacked from under his nose.
"I'm fine." William waved his hand in dismissal as he regained his composure. The pressure on his mind was still intense, having been overworked by both the simulation and his deductions, but he suppressed his thoughts and focused on his original task.
He looked at the Monarch, "Esteed Monarch, I hear that you have an interesting burial ceremony."
William had heard this information from the System, of course. When asking about thods to assist Riyald, he was told that the Dragon Continent typically sealed their dead with Arrays instead of giving them a proper burial.
This was in the hopes that they could revive their allies during tis of need with the Necromancy Elent. This was the Dragon Continent's most powerful trump card, able to restore two thousand years' worth of combat power for a few days' ti.
At the sa ti, the location of the burial chambers was a closely guarded secret. When William asked the System about its location, it wanted to charge him a whopping forty thousand Potential Points.
"Ah...yes we do." the Monarch replied nervously. Sothing about William's expression made him feel as if William was planning out his funeral.
"Great! Do you mind if we take a look?" William smiled calmly.
"Uh... we don't usually show that to outsiders." the Monarch began to sweat. If William continued to press him for the information, he would probably have to fight, and the Monarch could already tell that William would destroy him in an instant.
Should I have them revived now? We might stand a chance if we...
"I wouldn't count on your dead as support." Riyald warned before the Monarch could finish his thought. As an old man having lived a long ti, Riyald could tell when soone was planning to make a move.
"I really can't show you the chambers..." the Monarch said helplessly. No matter what happened to him, he wouldn't risk the safety of his Continent.
William looked at the Monarch silently. He previously planned to kill the Monarch the mont he proved their involvent in the disappearance of the dragons. He would search for the burial chambers on his own with the Navigation Talent and Life Sense, which probably wouldn't take long.
Now that William had experienced the simulation, however, he would feel bad knowing that they were completely innocent. Not to ntion he might lose Humanity points if he was too forceful.
Instead, he decided to bargain. "Monarch, Sir. What Elents do you use?"
"Lightning and Plant Magic, why do you ask?"
William pulled out the Lightning and Plant Dials from his Space Ring, both of which had been collecting dust in his Space Ring for a long ti. "If I give you these, will you consider allowing my Master and I to visit the burial grounds?"
"This..." the Monarch hesitated to give a response. He could tell at a glance that the two Artifacts were designed to improve the quality and quanity of both Lightning and Plant Magic by a considerable amount. In an auction, these would be priceless treasures fought over by anyone.
But William just casually brought them out!
"Don't misunderstand. If you decline my offer, we will still be going to the burial grounds. You really don't have a choice." William added.
"Then I suppose I must accept." the Monarch replied as he took the two Dials from William. "I'll take you there whenever you're ready."
"We're ready now." William nodded as he exchanged glances with Riyald. The Monarch had a subordinate open a series of short-distance portals until they arrived at the base of a small hill, where William could see a large number of complex Arrays dotting its surface.
They were all improved Perfect Arrays, but the sheer number made them almost comparable to a Tier 6 Array. While they could be destroyed by attacks at the Soul Formation level, it would probably take years if not decades.
The entrance to the burial ground was opened, and the Monarch ushered them both through a wide tunnel fit for three people side by side. While they walked, torches lit up on either side in a thodical manner until they reached a large opening.
