The exploration team split even more, but now their steps were being closely watched by Rain. They also received orders from the headquarters to change their direction in case Rain felt their traces getting faint.
Fortunately, their steps left enough traces for Rain to keep track of them… he had so skills in the earth mage's path that broke the limit, so that helped to the point that Rain could tell their location one hundred kiloters away.
Any more than that, and the task would consu too much mana… Rain needed to keep track of the path ahead as well to avoid ambushes. After a couple of hours of moving like that, Rain was finally able to sense sothing underground. There were so sort of caves buried in the sand… it was quite a long system of caves. At the sa ti, the wind was picking up.
There was a chance that those things were connected, and Rain reported this as well.
"This looks like sothing the other teams would want to explore, but it is hard to imagine that the survivors would manage to last down there," Roan said. "Can you sense anything else inside the caves?"
"No, the caves are thick, so I can't sense any vibrations," Rain replied.
"... If either of the teams wants to head there, they will be completely vulnerable while descending," Roan rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "We should report this as well, but it is clear that they should only head there once we lure the giant centipede."
The headquarters confird Roan's thinking, and they issued the orders for the other team to wait for his team to find anything else. From the headquarters' point of view, they couldn't see or sense any reason why that direction would be different from the rest of the world.
Over the last few weeks, they watched that planet, and they didn't find anything like an eye of the sandstorm… it just kept moving around the planet.
"What do you think about the movent speed of the storm, Sakaki?" Rain asked. "Is it faster or slower than the speed of the movent of this planet around its axis?"
"It should be at least twenty tis slower… but even so… we should have found any anomalies after watching this planet for over two months," Sakaki explained.
There was no point in keeping things about that while they were on the move, so Rain decided to focus on his own tasks before anything. As they kept advancing, the wind beca stronger, and slowly but surely, they could feel the pull getting stronger on their bodies. At the sa ti, the network of caves and tunnels didn't disappear.
"If the eye of the storm keeps moving, then it is just a coincidence that it is here…" Rain thought. "However, it is one hell of a coincidence. Thanks to this, it is fair to assu that the people here lived in caves for so reason… they couldn't have an advanced society…"
While Rain was pondering about such implications and how that would affect the mission, he suddenly felt a few quakes approaching from the direction they were heading to, and Rain quickly alerted everyone.
"I can't pinpoint its location yet, but sothing is definitely coming…" Rain declared.
Everyone readied themselves to fight and grabbed their weapons and gloves. With the wind that strong, they would have so advantage using the elental gloves. Still, the dust was bound to decrease their effects at middle and long range, so they couldn't attack from that far away.
Before long, Rain's heightened senses detected sothing massive entering his range of search. As he focused on the incoming presence, he could tell that it was remarkably long. Still, his eyes widened in disbelief when he estimated the creature's length to be more than ten kiloters…
The sheer scale of such a creature seed impossible by conventional standards, challenging the boundaries of what Rain considered feasible. However, he quickly reminded himself of the insane nature of the first dragons on Earth, understanding that logic and conventional expectations did not apply in this realm.
The realization that they were dealing with an extraordinary creature sent shivers down Rain's spine. He promptly relayed the information to the rest of the team, emphasizing the urgency and potential threat they were about to face.
"We've got sothing big incoming, and I an really big," Rain announced. "Prepare for a massive entity, more than ten kiloters in length. Stay alert, and be ready for anything!"
Most people wondered if Rain was right in the head, but eventually, they began to feel the trembling underground and couldn't help but think that he was serious… eventually, they saw a massive wave of sand approaching them, and half of the body of the centipede erged from the sand as it crossed it at insane speeds…
The head of the massive centipede erged from the swirling sand, revealing a nightmarish sight. The blue and green hues that adorned the creature's body intensified as it ca into view. The multitude of teeth lining the monstrous mouths seed to have a life of their own, giving off an eerie vibe.
The sheer size of the creature sent shivers down the spines of those witnessing the grotesque spectacle. The head alone was a terrifying sight, and it hinted at the colossal length of the creature still concealed beneath the surface.
As it approached with incredible speed, the air around it seed to vibrate with otherworldly energy, adding an additional layer of dread to the already tense atmosphere.
Without the need to receive orders to do so, the team decided to employ a tactic involving Impulse. mbers of the group used Impulse, generating a force in the opposite direction to the centipede's movent.
Simultaneously, the mbers equipped themselves with frozen gloves, channeling elental power to generate intense cold winds. As they pointed their gloves toward the approaching beast, the freezing gusts quickly perated the air, causing the sand particles to freeze. The once chaotic storm of swirling sand turned into a surreal display of frozen particles suspended in mid-air.
