Chapter 4: Traveling Through the Void

Endless darkness stretched in every direction, devoid of even the faintest light.

By chance, a flicker of white fire appeared—a lone ember in the abyss. It stood out, an anomaly in the void.

A sharp hissing echoed through the emptiness.

Amidst the firelight, a figure writhed in agony, his roar of pain reverberating through the darkness.

This person was none other than Imperial Sky.

Faced with the imminent threat of Venerable Wind, who held Pill Elder’s life in his grasp, he had no choice but to dive into the spatial rift. Any hesitation would have ant certain death.

Imperial Sky understood that, aside from the rift, there was no escape. No matter how he ran, the Wind Exalted One would find him.

So he had plunged into the abyss. But not without seizing so compensation—Pill Elder’s fallen Nascent Sacred Ring. It was a small price for what he had endured.

Now, within the rift, a terrifying force tore at his very existence. The unbearable sensation made him cry out in pain.

Flas engulfed his body—an icy fire, the Bone Spirit Cold Fla. The spectral blaze shielded him, reducing the tornt of the spatial tear. But even that protection would not last forever.

He soon noticed the flas weakening. The more the tearing force surged, the faster the fire dimd.

Imperial Sky clenched his fists. He knew the Bone Spirit Cold Fla had little energy to sustain itself. Once extinguished, he would be exposed to the raw void, and death would be inevitable.

Gazing into the unending darkness, feeling the pressure of the void intensify, he muttered, “I must replenish the Bone Spirit Cold Fla’s energy at once, or this will be my end.”

Then, realization struck him, and a smirk played on his lips. Fortunately, I took Pill Elder’s Nascent Sacred Ring. Without it, I’d already be dead.

He raised his hand, staring at the ring glinting on his finger. “Since it belonged to Pill Elder, there must be a wealth of pills stored inside.”

If this were the original story, the ring might not have held much. But this was a different ti. Pill Elder had yet to obtain the Bone Spirit Cold Fla. At this stage, he would have been in his pri, with his Nascent Sacred Ring stocked full of dicinal treasures.

Without hesitation, Imperial Sky extended his spiritual sense into the ring.

The Nascent Sacred Ring required a drop of blood to recognize its owner. But his physical body had already been destroyed—he had no blood to offer.

Fortunately, this particular ring had been forged by Pill Elder himself, using his Nascent Soul as the core. That ant it could be accessed using soul power alone.

Imperial Sky’s brows furrowed as he sensed a lingering trace of Pill Elder’s spiritual imprint on the ring. However, against the Bone Spirit Cold Fla’s power, such resistance was aningless.

As the imprint burned away, he finally saw the ring’s contents—and his eyes widened.

Bottles of pills. Bundles of dicinal herbs. Each radiated a potent spiritual essence that set his pulse racing.

At the sa ti, he sensed the Bone Spirit Cold Fla flickering, on the verge of extinguishing.

He acted imdiately. Plucking a bottle from the ring, he barely glanced at its label before uncorking it. A rich dicinal fragrance filled the void. Without hesitation, he guided the flas to consu the pills, refining their energy into pure essence.

The flas surged, regaining their intensity. A triumphant smile curled his lips. “Pill Elder, I truly must thank you.”

With the Bone Spirit Cold Fla stabilized, Imperial Sky felt a renewed sense of security.

Gradually, as the fla absorbed more essence, he sensed sothing remarkable. The fire, which had always felt foreign—wild and uncontrollable—was now responding to him.

At first, the connection was faint, but as he continued feeding the fla, it beca clearer.

Is it possible…? Am I gaining control over it?

Excitent flickered in his chest. He had only been the Bone Spirit Cold Fla’s host, not its master. But now, the more he fueled it, the more attuned to it he beca. Each ti the energy waned, he replenished it with another pill. Each cycle brought the fla further under his command.

Ti blurred in the endless void. He did not know how long he had been drifting, training, surviving. But eventually, he reached the pinnacle of control.

The Bone Spirit Cold Fla, once a wild force, had fully submitted to him. It shrank into a single silver-white ember, embedding itself between his brows—a mark of complete mastery.

A newfound strength coursed through his soul. The cold fla now encased him fully, shielding him from the void’s relentless tearing force.

And yet, his journey was far from over.

He continued refining, continued growing. With each passing mont, his soul condensed further, becoming sharper, and stronger.

When he was not absorbing pills, he studied the alchemy knowledge left behind in the ring. Within its depths, he discovered nurous pill recipes, their effects, and their intricacies. At last, he recognized what he had been consuming.

One pill, the Fighting Spirit Pill, could elevate a Dou King’s strength by an entire star level. But the body could only endure it once in a lifeti.

Imperial Sky nearly cursed aloud. He had wasted a sixth-tier pill without a second thought.

Tch. No more waste. From now on, I’ll only use lower-tier pills or raw dicinal herbs.

Ti drifted on, unasured. Then, at long last, he saw it—a glimr of light in the endless darkness.

His breath hitched. A lump ford in his throat. Light…!

Imperial Sky turned toward it, drawn by an overwhelming sense of relief.

At that mont, he looked down at himself. His body was small, insignificant in the vast void. Yet silver-white flas coiled around him, their radiance undeniable.

This was no ordinary fla. It was the Bone Spirit Cold Fla—fully tad, fully mastered.

A soft glow pulsed at the center of his forehead, where the fla had taken root. It had changed, shifting from pale white to brilliant silver. He did not know what this transformation signified, only that it was stronger than before.

Stronger than ever.
